TAVRIC
'She knows too much… I don't think she is a mere human.' Jaxl mindlinks me, the words sharp with an edge of panic and worry. 'What should we do?'
We get information from her by any means necessary, I resolve. I keep my eyes locked on her hands, then on the unsettling casualness in her eyes.
She looks like she hasn't just shattered our lies to pieces. She looks like she hasn't just admitted to knowing exactly who I am and what Lucy is to me.
"Who are you?" I demand.
Before she can even open her mouth, I cut through the air with a scoff. "And before you go about ignoring our questions or sidelining us, know this: I won't take half-assed answers. You tell me what I want to know, or you deal with me."
As much as I'm desperate to find my mate, I'm not following an unknown person into an unknown void. Not like Lucy did.
My heart grapples with a rough mix of pain and confusion. How is she? What is she doing right now?
