Jade's hands fidgeted with her dress. She had been in the same car with him the whole time, and neither of them had said a word to each other, mostly because she had avoided it from the start. When he spoke, she either gave a one-word answer or ignored him completely. Honestly, Van was beginning to question her change in attitude. It was never consistent, and it worried him, because how then would she react when everything went down tonight?
As they arrived at the venue, she stepped out first without waiting for anyone to open the door. It wasn't a fancy restaurant as she had assumed. She had thought he might want to take her on a date, but instead it was a luxury apartment in the heart of the city, with fences covered in thick thorny bushes yet vibrant red roses.
"Let's go in," Van said, ushering her toward the apartment and stretching his hand toward her. She took it hesitantly.
