The rigid certainty in his shoulders fractured, replaced by a raw, unreadable bewilderment. "Lena, I am trying to save your life. You can barely hold yourself upright."
â"This was my decision!" I fired back, the argument erupting before my mind could even try to soften the blows. "My choice! You don't get to step in and throw away everything I bled for on those sands just because you want to protect me from a secret!"
â"This isn't about a secret!" his voice roared, the sheer volume making the stone walls hum, though his eyes remained desperately fixed on mine. "It is about your survival!"
