I could feel the tremor running through him, the war between taking everything he wanted and maintaining the last threads of his control.
My fingers curled into the fabric of his shirt, and he growled into my mouth—an actual growl that vibrated through my chest.
He kissed me deeper, harder, each stroke of his tongue deliberate and devastating, leaving me breathless and aching, my body arching instinctively against him.
When he finally pulled back, we were both panting. His forehead dropped to mine, eyes squeezed shut as if he couldn't bear to look at me.
"Wait," I whispered, placing a hand on his chest. I could feel his heart racing beneath my palm. "Before we go any further, I need you to formally agree." I swallowed. "Or you can walk out right now and we pretend this never happened."
His eyes opened slowly, confusion and desperation and something almost feral warring in those crimson tinged depths.
