"And it's not just that," Bakura added. "Jōnouchi didn't only use Mai's own style to break her trap—Mai also wasted a full 2000 Life Points just to maintain Mirror Wall for nothing."
"Jōnouchi… I didn't expect you to make me take a loss that big," Mai said with a light laugh. "But I'm not going to just stand here and let you hit me."
"I activate the Spell Triangle Ecstasy Spark! This card raises my Harpie Lady Sisters' ATK to 2700!"

The three sisters gathered yellow energy in their palms. Their beams linked into a glowing triangle, and from its center a piercing X-shaped ray blasted forward—shattering Red-Eyes Black Dragon in an instant.
"What?!" Jōnouchi shouted.

"Mai's incredible too—she flipped the momentum back in an instant," Anzu said.
"No," Kisaragi said, her tone calm but firm. "The truth is: Mai's been pushed right to the edge. Isn't that right, Yugi?"
"Yeah," Yugi nodded. "She's burned too many resources. Her hand is empty—what we just saw was basically her absolute limit."
"A Duel is, fundamentally, a battle of resources," Kisaragi continued. "If you still have cards in hand, you still have answers for what's coming. But if you don't…"
She let the sentence hang.
"My turn—draw!"
"I Normal Summon Black Dragon's Chick!"
A tiny black dragon hatchling appeared—freshly out of its shell.

"But why summon that now?" Honda asked.
"I banish Black Dragon's Chick! Special Summon Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon from my hand!"

"What—?! He summoned a high-level monster that easily?!" Mai gasped.
"Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon can be Special Summoned by banishing one Dragon on my field," Jōnouchi explained. "And once per turn, I can use its effect to Special Summon one Dragon from my hand or Graveyard—except another copy of itself!"
"Not so fast! I activate the Trap Harpie's Feather Storm!" Mai snapped.
Harpie Lady surged upward, whipping a cyclone of feathers across the field. Under the storm, Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon instinctively lowered its head—its power suppressed.
"What?!" Jōnouchi barked.
"Jōnouchi, this card can be activated if I control a WIND Winged Beast," Mai said. "Until the end of this turn, the effects of the monsters you activate are negated."
"In other words—your Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon can't use its effect to summon another Dragon this turn."
"If I can't use effects—then I'll win with force!" Jōnouchi grinned.
"Battle! Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, attack Harpie Lady!"
Red light flared in the dragon's eyes as a dark crimson energy sphere formed in midair—then fired straight at Harpie Lady.
"I activate the Counter Trap Negate Attack! Your attack is negated—and this ends the Battle Phase!"
"Tch… you really are stubborn," Jōnouchi said, laughing.
"Jōnouchi… this is the first time I've ever enjoyed a Duel this much," Mai replied with a smile of her own.
"Then I set two cards. End turn!" (Cards in hand: 1)
"I can't take my eyes off this Duel," Honda muttered.
"But if Mai can't make a move this turn, she loses," Kisaragi said flatly.
"My turn—draw!"
"I activate Pot of Greed! I draw two cards!"
Mai placed her hand on her Deck… but didn't draw immediately.
Jōnouchi… you're a Duelist unlike anyone I've met. Then I'll answer you with everything I have.
She drew two cards.
The moment she saw them, her lips curled upward.
"Jōnouchi… sorry, but I think this Duel is over."
"What?!" he snapped.
"I activate the Continuous Spell Hysteric Sign! When it's activated, I can add one Elegant Egotist from my Deck or Graveyard to my hand."
"So—I add it from my Graveyard!"
"Now I activate Elegant Egotist! By its effect, I Special Summon Harpie Lady 1 from my Deck!"

"And because of Harpies' Hunting Ground—I destroy your set card on the left!"
"Then before you destroy it, I'll use it!" Jōnouchi shouted. "I activate Trap Card—Return of the Red-Eyes! By its effect, I Special Summon Red-Eyes Black Dragon from my Graveyard!"
