Chapter 52 - Chapter 52: Xianzhou Marshal Hua

On the star skiff heading for Yaoqing, Wei Qing stayed alone in his cabin.

This trip was only the two of them—him and his master. Everyone else remained on the Luofu, dealing with the aftermath of the war.

The room was silent, save for the steady hum of the skiff's engine as it moved through the void.

Wei Qing was thinking over everything that had happened lately.

First: sincere thanks once again to Yaoshi-mom. That "mom" was too generous—so generous that even now it still felt unreal, like he was dreaming.

Who would've thought that in this universe, something like an "Aeon-in-waiting" even existed?

When Lan descended as well, Wei Qing had genuinely felt like he'd played things way too big.

But fortunately, the Aeon of the Hunt hadn't chosen to do anything to him. Whether Lan simply didn't care, or felt Wei Qing's "rank" wasn't high enough to be worth the trouble—who knew.

Then Wei Qing looked again at the system's newly-updated mission:

[As a two-faced traitor with an intense drive to climb higher, how can you be content with mediocrity?]

[Main Quest: Announce to the entire universe your name as an Emanator of Destruction. Let the cosmos be shaken by Destruction's infamous might!]

[Special Note: This mission's reward relates to Paths; reward will be issued according to your completion rate.]

What kind of stunt is this system trying to pull now?

Was it trying to make him blow his cover?

This was a persona he'd hidden for three hundred years, diligently, just so he could slack off and live lazily.

And honestly? It was a sad story.

Wei Qing had only wanted to infiltrate the Xianzhou Alliance and find some random job to coast on—only to end up forced into three centuries of hard labor, all because of Lan's gaze.

Luofu General…

That seat… he really did seem about to sit on it.

Even now it still didn't feel fully real, though he'd known for a long time that his master had been training him as the successor.

But in front of Aeons, mortal power really was too limited.

Wei Qing felt like he was, at minimum, a "version T0" character now—stats on stats, mechanics on mechanics, a true all-rounder.

Yet after witnessing Lan's strike, and seeing the future under Finality, his dream of becoming some cosmic kingpin had shattered.

He still couldn't "碰瓷" an Aeon. Maybe only after Yaoshi fell—after he could take that divine authority—would he have a chance.

"Wei Qing, we're here," Teng Xiao's voice came from outside the door.

They had arrived at their destination:

Yaoqing Xianzhou.

Even though the three Emanators of Destruction had already withdrawn from Alliance territory with the Antimatter Legion, it had only been a few days. Yaoqing's atmosphere hadn't recovered from its solemn tension.

Dock workers looked grim. Patrols of Cloud Knights were several times heavier than usual. Every detail screamed wartime nerves.

After passing through the starport, an envoy was already waiting.

They didn't even get time to settle in—both were hurried straight to the general's residence.

It looked broadly similar to the Luofu's general's residence, but the interior was more stripped-down, hard-edged, and utilitarian.

Under guidance, Teng Xiao and Wei Qing entered the main hall.

At the seat of honor stood not Yaoqing's general, but a woman with a heroic, commanding presence.

She wasn't wearing ornate armor—just a seemingly plain, dark robe.

Her posture was straight as pine. Her face wasn't aged. She simply stood there—quietly—and yet it felt as though the whole building's air deferred to her existence, naturally settling into stillness around her.

This was the Marshal of the Xianzhou Alliance—the undisputed greatest Hunt-aligned warrior in the cosmos aside from Lan themself.

Hua.

"You've arrived," the Marshal said.

"Marshal." Teng Xiao clasped his fists and saluted. Wei Qing bowed slightly as well.

Hua's gaze was still as an ancient well as it fell upon Wei Qing—like she was trying to see through his essence itself.

"…Teng Xiao, you've taken a fine disciple," she said evenly, with no obvious emotion. "I already know of the Luofu affair. Shuhu has been put down. Jidu Mirage has fallen. This is great merit. The Alliance will remember it."

"This victory—my disciple should take first credit," Teng Xiao said, shifting half a step aside to present Wei Qing.

Hua nodded faintly, then looked at Wei Qing again, lingering a moment longer.

"Emanator of Abundance," she said slowly, and the air in the hall seemed to tighten again.

Teng Xiao frowned, about to speak—but Hua lifted a hand, stopping him.

"Teng Xiao. I have no intention to accuse. Power itself has neither good nor evil; only the heart that wields it distinguishes right from wrong."

"As a general of the Luofu, you should also know: the Xianzhou Alliance is irreconcilable with the Plagues Author and the fanatical Abundance devotees—but we do not blindly hate all Abundance."

The tension evaporated instantly.

Teng Xiao's tightly-held nerves loosened.

"The Marshal sees clearly," he replied.

"And I've also heard—on that day, besides Yaoshi, the Reignbow also descended upon the Luofu."

"Just as three hundred years ago: since this is the Reignbow's decision, then I will not play the villain."

Hearing Hua's words—carrying an implied weight—Wei Qing was a little surprised.

He'd only met the Marshal once before and didn't truly know her character.

He'd been worried she might resemble the Fu Hua of that "neighboring Shenzhou era"—someone stubborn to the point of cold extremity.

Now it seemed he'd worried too much.

Hua's gaze swept over both of them, then settled on Teng Xiao.

"Teng Xiao. You didn't come only for this matter—did you?"

Teng Xiao's expression sharpened. He drew a deep breath, straightened his spine, and spoke firmly.

"Marshal. Shuhu's threat has been removed. The Luofu's overall situation is stabilized. This subordinate… requests permission to resign from the post of Luofu General."

He paused, then continued in a steady voice:

"And I recommend my disciple, Wei Qing, to succeed the seat of Luofu General."

The hall fell into silence.

Many had believed it inevitable—but for Teng Xiao to propose it personally before the Marshal carried a different weight entirely.

So it really was for this…

Wei Qing felt a quiet swell of emotion as he looked at his master.

Hua's face showed little surprise. She had clearly anticipated this as well.

She fell silent for a moment, her gaze moving between Teng Xiao and Wei Qing.

"Teng Xiao. You've guarded the Luofu for many years—hardships borne, merit earned. It is indeed time to consider succession."

"Wei Qing's achievements and strength are also sufficient to convince the masses."

"Then—Wei Qing."

"Teng Xiao recommends you to inherit the position of Luofu General. For your own part… what do you think?"
