It would be a lie if Freya said she wasn't equally anxious.
But she held her composure.
"We'll only know once we answer the call," she said, finally picking up the phone to answer.
"Let me hear it." Amelia instinctively leaned forward, as if getting closer would somehow help her catch every word. Her fingers curled tightly at her sides, her anticipation evident in the tension of her posture.
Freya didn't stop her. She simply answered the call and spoke in a warm professional tone.
"Producer Polson," she said steadily, "has it been decided?"
There was a brief silence on the other end.
Freya's grip on the phone tightened ever so slightly.
"Freya," James finally spoke.
His voice … felt different than before.
Not uncertain —but not as assured as she had expected earlier.
He paused, as if carefully weighing his words, reconsidering them even at this moment.
"We have decided to cast Adelyn as the female lead."
For a second —
Freya was stunned.
