Behind him, Sera was visibly shaken. Even with the mask on, her body language made it obvious she was in shock. Elira, however, remained perfectly neutral, as if the slaughter was just a detail, nothing worth reacting to.

Lucian turned and looked her in the eye.
"Yes, I did. If I hadn't, we wouldn't have been able to save her."
