Lloyd let out a short sigh while the weapon in his hand dissolved into fragments of light and vanished completely. His fingers remained empty, still extended an instant, before relaxing.
"How sentimental..." he murmured, with a low tone, almost distracted.
His attention immediately shifted toward Bernard.
The baron hadn't remained still. During the last seconds, he had taken advantage of the chaos to circle the room, seeking an angle that would allow him to reach the door. His heavy body advanced clumsily, but urgency pushed him to move faster than usual.
It wasn' t just fleeing.
Bernard stopped suddenly and turned on himself, raising the hand he still preserved.
"Ha! You shouldn' t have ignored me!" he shouted, showing a tense smile. "I have more than one ring, you know?"
His amputated arm had been left behind, along with the rings he wore on that hand. But the other remained intact.
