The first day of school at Mingzhu Academy.
A school-wide assembly was held at Qing Campus.
Dean Xiao stood on the high platform:
"I'm glad to see your growth, but this is not the end of your journey!"
His tone suddenly became stern, like a sharp knife piercing everyone's heart:
"Qing Campus is the terminal station of your youthful cultivation, a small warm pool before you face rapids and waterfalls.
The next stop is the real magical journey! No matter how much injustice you have suffered, just swallow it all yourself. No one will sympathize with the weak!"
Dean Xiao was no longer as amiable as usual. His expression was stern, even a little intimidating.
The students held their breath, afraid to make a sound.
"Today is the assessment that determines your admission to the main campus. All mages who have not reached the intermediate level are ineligible!"
"You only have three years left at Qing Campus. If you cannot reach the Intermediate Mage level within these three years, then after leaving Mingzhu Academy, do not consider yourself a student here anymore!"
These words were like a heavy hammer, striking everyone's hearts.
The main campus is reserved for the strong, a gathering place of geniuses. The prerequisite is intermediate-level cultivation—a threshold that discouraged most Qing Campus students.
Soon, many beginner students silently lowered their heads and left, clearing a large space.
Dean Xiao glanced at the remaining students. His stern expression softened into a kind smile:
"Congratulations on becoming a member of the main campus."
About a thousand students from Qing Campus remained on the playground.
Although most were newly advanced and could barely release intermediate-level magic, this was enough to enter the main campus. Once they reached the intermediate level, they could gain a foothold there.
The assessment was also tied to a reward: the Three-Step Tower!
Hearing Dean Xiao's rules, Ai Tutu's face lit up with excitement. She grabbed Mu Nujiao's hand and eagerly sought out Wang Feng.
"Brother Wang Feng, let's form a team! There are five spots available!"
Today, Wang Feng's reputation loomed like a shadow over Qing Campus. Just mentioning his name caused students to lose momentum.
Having him on the team was almost equivalent to locking in victory.
Wang Feng did not refuse. After all, he planned to bring Ye Xinxia to the wave points. With five spots available, he could bring one or three—and maybe gain some benefits.
"Brother Wang Feng, you're really awesome~!" Ai Tutu hugged him excitedly.
Her natural cushion pressed against Wang Feng's abdominal muscles mercilessly.
He raised an eyebrow, looking down at her, a small smile forming. "Bunny, are you taking advantage of me?"
"No way!" Ai Tutu pouted but hugged him even tighter.
"Bunny! Watch your image!" Mu Nujiao scolded.
"Oh~" Ai Tutu let go, still smiling brightly, clearly in a good mood.
Ye Xinxia, standing nearby, saw the intimate scene. A flash of surprise crossed her eyes, but she quickly composed herself, her smile meaningful.
Back at the apartment, everyone gathered for a brief meeting to discuss the next plan. Afterwards, they dispersed to gather information about the shadow monster.
When Ye Xinxia and Wang Feng were alone, a teasing smile appeared on her delicate face:
"Brother Wang Feng, you acted quickly! Has the rabbit been captured already?"
Wang Feng raised an eyebrow. "What nonsense are you talking about? I haven't made a move yet."
"Really?" Ye Xinxia blinked, disbelief on her face.
Wang Feng laughed at her expression that seemed to say, I've seen through you already.
"Don't believe me? Then I'll prove with my own actions that I'm not lying!"
He suddenly reached out, lifting Ye Xinxia by the waist, walking toward the room.
"Eh? No, no, don't we need to find the Shadow Beast?"
Ye Xinxia panicked slightly, blush spreading across her face, hands grabbing his shoulders.
"It's not too late to go after it after it appears~" Wang Feng said with a sly smile.
A few hours later, a busybody posted the shadow monster's location on the school forum.
All the freshmen taking the test began heading toward the location.
The requirement for victory was to send the shadow monster into the designated iron cage. The winning group would gain a place to enter the Three-Step Tower for training. Instructors would score subsequent rankings based on performance during the assessment.
The shadow monster's iron cage was placed on an uninhabited hill at the edge of Qing Campus.
"Wang Feng hasn't appeared yet? Has anyone seen him?"
"No!"
"Keep hiding and alert the others immediately when you see Wang Feng!"
"Wang Feng has appeared! He's already snatched the Shadow Monster, bringing Mu Nujiao, Ai Tutu, and the healing Hua Ye Xinxia with him!"
A team from the southeast reported urgently.
"Damn bastard, why does he do that? Why?"
"Stop yelling and proceed as planned!"
Wang Feng dragged the unconscious shadow monster up the mountain, sweeping his mental power to detect ambushes.
In just a few hundred meters, there were thousands of mid-level mages waiting!
On another hill, Dean Xiao, department heads, and senior professors used magic telescopes to observe the developments.
"Tsk tsk, these Qing Campus brats must be scared out of their wits. They actually united more than a thousand people to target Wang Feng," Old Professor Qiu Yuhua clicked his tongue.
"That's inevitable. You saw Wang Feng at the welcome party. Add the temptation of the Three-Step Tower—if they don't unite, they really look down on him!" Dean Fu chuckled.
Dean Xiao shook his head helplessly, putting down his telescope. "Wang Feng is putting too much pressure on Qing Campus. Especially the freshmen he defeated at the orientation—now they're holding back anger."
"If you're not convinced, just keep it to yourself. They're just not as skilled as others," Jiang Yunming smiled.
"Although Wang Feng single-handedly suppressed the freshmen at orientation, they were mostly beginner mages. Now he faces a full thousand mid-level mages. Can he compete?" Wei Rong asked, frowning.
Jiang Yunming smiled. "Director Wei Rong, how about a bet?"
"What bet?" Wei Rong raised his eyebrows, intrigued.
"A bet on whether Wang Feng can suppress these 1,000 mid-level mages and put the shadow monster into the iron cage. Stakes: one semester and half of the main campus departmental resources!"
"Okay! I bet!"
