Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Famous in One Battle, an Insurmountable Mountain!

With the elimination of the eight mid-level mages, the enthusiasm of the freshmen at Pearl Academy did not diminish. Instead, it surged even higher.

Challengers flooded into the arena like a rising tide, and the counter on the arena wall began to jump wildly.

Two hundred, four hundred, six hundred… until the number broke through the astonishing four digits—one thousand!

Wang Feng stood in the fighting arena, still energetic, his face flushed with health and not the slightest sign of fatigue.

In the audience, many freshmen began to feel lost and confused.

"Is he even human? It's been so long, why does his magic power seem endless?"

"Wait, didn't we learn that after a dimensional summoned beast is called, it continuously consumes the summoner's magic power and mental strength? Am I remembering it wrong?"

"No, you're right—that's the truth! This guy is definitely cheating! I want to report him!"

In the Summoning Department lounge, Hai Dafu sat frozen in disbelief.

He had gone from disdain, to surprise, to shock, and finally to utter numbness. Wang Feng's performance had completely overturned his perception of reality.

"How is this possible? How can a freshman be this strong…" Hai Dafu muttered, eyes wide with disbelief.

Mo Fan, sitting nearby, noticed Hai Dafu's defense crumbling. A faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips.

He had been waiting for this moment!

"Alright, stop waiting. You won't get a chance to play. It's late—we should go eat!" Mo Fan patted the fat boy on the shoulder.

Without looking back, he walked out of the lounge and left the fighting hall.

Mo Fan trusted Wang Feng's words completely—if Wang Feng said it had nothing to do with them, then it really had nothing to do with them.

Since there was nothing left for him here, it was time to eat.

Hai Dafu stared at Mo Fan's retreating figure in confusion, his lips moving but no words coming out.

In the teacher's seating area, Jiang Yunming frowned as he looked at the scarlet four-digit counter. With a sigh, he turned to Dean Xiao and asked softly:

"Dean Xiao, do you really want to continue this competition? A thousand challengers have already been defeated. Isn't it time to end it?"

Dean Xiao smiled faintly, his eyes never leaving Wang Feng and Shanshan in the arena. His voice was calm.

"End it? Why would we end it? A promise cannot be broken. Besides, this is a valuable lesson for this class of freshmen—and even for all the teachers and students at Pearl Academy, don't you think?"

He paused before continuing, "Only when they understand that there are always stronger people out there can they strive to improve and truly grow."

Jiang Yunming fell silent.

He knew Dean Xiao was right, but watching Wang Feng's seemingly endless magic power and terrifying combat ability made him uneasy.

Would Wang Feng's overwhelming strength crush the spirit of this entire class of freshmen?

Yet, since Dean Xiao had already decided, he could not object.

What's more, Wang Feng was from his own Summoning Department. At this moment, Wang Feng was bringing glory to it.

A faint smile tugged at Jiang Yunming's lips, and pride welled up in his chest.

"In that case, I'll wait and see how this beast-fighting competition ends…" he murmured, turning his gaze back to the arena.

Soon, the challengers reached 1,200.

"Oh my God, he's still so energetic! Wouldn't it be wonderful to be his girlfriend?" Ai Tutu yawned, though her eyes sparkled with excitement.

Mu Nujiao rolled her eyes but silently agreed. Wang Feng's stamina was astonishing—he didn't look like someone who had just defeated 1,200 opponents.

Not far away, Ye Xinxia was recording Wang Feng on her phone. Hearing their conversation, her hand trembled slightly and her cheeks flushed pink.

"Sister Mu?" Ai Tutu called, but received no answer.

She turned to see Mu Nujiao staring blankly at Wang Feng, lost in thought.

"Sister Mu!" Ai Tutu raised her voice.

"Huh? What is it?" Mu Nujiao blinked back to awareness, looking at Ai Tutu in confusion.

"Sister Mu, you always call me a fangirl, but look at you now—you're no better than me!" Ai Tutu teased with a grin.

Mu Nujiao blushed furiously, glaring at her in embarrassment. "Rabbit!"

Seeing her reaction, Ai Tutu chuckled secretly, then grabbed her arm. "Come on, Sister Mu, aren't you hungry? Let's go grab something to eat."

"Eat? At a time like this?" Mu Nujiao hesitated.

"Oh please, if we don't eat, we'll collapse before he even finishes! He clearly intends to teach all the freshmen a lesson. With only a thousand done, there are still three thousand more. This could go on until dawn!"

"Look—even the teachers are eating!"

Mu Nujiao glanced where Ai Tutu pointed and indeed saw tutors munching on bread and biscuits, while some seniors ate takeout boxes mid-spectacle.

"…Alright then."

The two girls slipped out to refill their stomachs before returning to witness Wang Feng's legend.

Wang Feng became famous in a single battle—and the fight was far from over.

Reporters covering the Pearl Academy competition were grinning ear to ear.

This was headline news!

The videos they uploaded went viral instantly, dominating trending searches across major platforms.

"Breaking News: A powerhouse emerges at Pearl Academy! Even the eight great families' geniuses were crushed!"

"A healing mage sweeps through the entire freshman class. Is this the fall of morality or the distortion of human nature?"

At first, many dismissed the headlines as exaggerated freshman gossip.

But as time went on, the truth became undeniable.

The counter soared past 1,200… 1,500… 1,800… 2,000… 2,500!

By four in the morning, more than half the freshmen in the academy had been defeated by Wang Feng.

Even upperclassmen from the Qing Campus and the Main Campus rushed over to witness this unprecedented spectacle.

Top-ranked geniuses from various departments arrived one after another, even attracting the attention of their departmental chiefs.

These main campus elites were the cream of the crop—most of them had spirit seeds as standard.

Yet from the shock in their eyes, it was clear that even they were shaken by this beast-fighting competition.

Challenging an entire school's freshman class alone?

Even their own chiefs couldn't manage such a feat.

Human power has limits—at least, that's what they had always believed.

"Is this kid really human?" Professor Qiu Yuhua, acting as referee, couldn't help swallowing nervously.

He could perhaps reach this level himself—but only because he was a Super Mage!

And even then, his age meant his stamina could not compare.

But Wang Feng had been fighting for fourteen hours straight, from two in the afternoon until now!

His eyes were still sharp, his expression calm, his magic power seemingly inexhaustible.

"This is too strange… could his innate talent exempt him from the magic cost of summoning?"

Inside the arena, Wang Feng looked at the freshmen trying to stall for time, and a cold smile curved his lips.

"If you're so reluctant to surrender… then let me speed this up and finish you all sooner!"
