Cellie's POV
Diana's face when the elevator opened to the apartment floor was the face I had been looking forward to since Demetrio told me about the condo three days ago.
"Holy—" she said.
"I know," I said.
"This building is insane."
"I know."
"This hallway alone is nicer than my entire apartment."
"Diana."
"Okay, okay." She followed me to the door. "Show me."
We went through the whole thing room by room and Diana narrated her reactions with the specific enthusiasm of someone who had never encountered a space she could not find something extraordinary to say about, and I loved her for it because her reactions were giving me permission to have my own without performing gratitude while also performing modesty.
The bedroom stopped us both.
