El-Romano was seated as usual in his dining room when the ledger from Gavin came to him. The same thing Maverick had denied him proudly a few weeks ago was now rightfully in his grasp without him even having to exert any effort...or perhaps much effort.
Carla couldn't stop herself from staring strangely and awkwardly at the large book atop the dining table while she ate.
To make matters worse, Bruno, her worst enemy, was seated with them as well on the chair beside El-Romano as the butler stood behind after dropping the ledger.
"Did you see the child drop it off?" The old man asked his butler, who nodded immediately.
Carla darted her eyes between the two men, sourcing from their conversation that they were likely referring to Gavin.
"I did. The underboss did a poor job of hiding." Sawyer told his master as he stood ever straight and unmoving, causing Carla to wonder how he managed to keep up with standing like a damn pole every single time.
