Maverick turned his head slightly to look at Lucrezia and how her gaze didn't waver from Jace.
Her face was scrunched in anger and even though she was aware he was staring at her, she didn't bulge.
"I asked you a question." Lucrezia was still onto Jace and the guard couldn't help but raise his brows.
He looked again at the rearview mirror, seeing how Maverick didn't say anything to back him up before he cleared his throat and thought of an answer.
"A while ago, Miss," he replied.
He spared a brief glance at Lucrezia through the mirror before returning his focus to the wheel. Sliding the key into the ignition, he turned it, and the engine hummed back to life.
"Great! I-It works now." He turned back this time to Lucrezia as if acknowledging that the car was finally working now.
He subconsciously ran his eyes over her for a moment before immediately turning back around like he was afraid of seeing something he wasn't supposed to see.
