Leo rushed out of the villa the instant he heard the thud and the sharp gasp.
Aria was on the ground just outside the corridor. Three Purist girls stood over her, laughing as they took turns stomping down on her side and back. One of them had her foot planted firmly on Aria's shoulder, grinding it down while the others kicked at her legs and ribs. Their shadows fell across her in the pale afternoon light.
Aria curled in on herself, trying to protect her head, breathing in short, pained gasps. Blood smeared from a split lip across the stone.
Leo's vision narrowed.
Kai'sa and Garrett burst out right behind him, drawn by the noise. Kai'sa's hand flew to her mouth. Garrett went completely still, the way someone does when they are calculating something ugly.
The lead Purist girl looked up, smirk widening when she saw Leo.
