My girlfriend planned a baby shower for me. I swear, I was fucking surprised.
I never expected it. I had never even thought about having a baby shower; it didn't cross my mind at all. I stood entirely frozen just inside the doorway, my legs gluing themselves to the floor while the loud noise echoed through the room. My heart thudded hard in my chest, a sudden rush of warmth flooding through me as I blinked rapidly against the bright colors.
The moment I entered, everyone shouted, "Surprise!" popping party poppers as confetti rained down. Shiny blue, pink, orange and other colors ribbons floated down through the air, sticking to my hair and landing softly on my shoulders.
Everyone was here, my Redwood friends, my brother, Eriko, and even some people I didn't know. The cottage living room was completely packed, voices buzzing all at once as people smiled and waved from behind the snack tables.
