Bang!
The iron door of the sheet-metal shack was kicked to pieces by Qin Yu.
The heavy metal panel crashed to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.
Outside, scavengers with hunger gleaming in their eyes stared intently at the scene inside.
Even Monkey and Big Bear, standing at the outermost edge, were swallowing hard.
Inside the shack.
It was piled high with crates of high-grade nutrient paste, rows of sealed synthetic meat steaks, and even dozens of barrels of purified water.
This was the entire fortune Scar had amassed by exploiting Rust Town for years.
"Old K."
Qin Yu didn't even glance at the supplies, sitting squarely on the iron chair in the center of the room.
"Boss!" Old K scrambled in, his face filled with fervor.
"Take some men and move all this stuff outside."
Qin Yu laid the Kiss of Death across his lap, pulled out a cheap cigar he'd found on Scar's table, and lit it.
"Distribute it to the whole town, by headcount."
"Anyone who dares take more than their share gets shot on the spot."
Old K shuddered, his eyes instantly reddening.
"Boss... distribute it all? This is enough food to last half a year!"
"I'll only say it once."
Qin Yu exhaled a cloud of acrid smoke, his gaze cold and sharp.
"Eat your fill tonight, so you'll have the strength to kill for me tomorrow."
"Now go and hand out the food."
Old K roughly wiped away his tears, turned around, and roared hoarsely at the scavengers outside.
"Line the fuck up!"
"The new boss has spoken! Tonight, the whole town eats meat!"
A wave of beast-like cheers instantly erupted outside.
Thousands of people knelt in the mud, kowtowing frantically toward the sheet-metal shack.
Cries, shouts, and the sounds of chewing mingled together.
...
Late at night.
Rust Town was unusually quiet.
The scavengers, full and satisfied, clutched their rusty muskets and slept like logs in their dilapidated shacks.
Qin Yu sat alone on the roof of the sheet-metal shack.
The night wind carried the pungent smell of exhaust fumes.
Overhead, two dark red crescent moons cast an eerie glow.
Qin Yu casually flicked away his cigarette butt, but his heart felt hollow.
"No idea where they ended up."
Qin Yu took a deep breath of the cold air, and two distinctly different faces involuntarily surfaced in his mind.
Yao Xue.
That icy-cold chief surgeon who always silently bandaged his wounds late at night.
Those long, beautiful legs clad in Black Silk Stockings, that aloof, untouchable demeanor that pushed everyone away—except for him, to whom she opened her heart.
And Yao Qian.
That otaku younger sister who called him "brother-in-law" with every other breath, wore White Silk Stockings, and was as docile as a kitten.
"Without me, could those two foolish women survive in a hellhole like this?"
Qin Yu clenched his fists tightly.
His nails dug into his palms, bringing a sharp sting.
And then there was Li Ruobing, who always charged headfirst into fights, and Elena with her Valkyrie Corps.
Qin Yu abruptly raised his head, staring intently at the dark red starry sky.
"System."
Qin Yu called out coldly in his mind.
[Ding! I'm here.]
The icy mechanical voice immediately echoed in his mind.
"You said you could retrieve their spatial coordinates."
Qin Yu's eyes gleamed like those of a bloodthirsty wolf.
"How many Starburst Points do I need?"
[Answering host.]
[Cross-star system search for lifeform coordinates requires unlocking the "Interstellar Radar" module.]
[Unlock price: 100,000 Starburst Points.]
[Current host balance: Zero.]
"One hundred thousand?"
Qin Yu sneered, the killing intent in his eyes boiling over without restraint.
"How much can we get for wiping out that so-called fucking recycling station?"
[Assessing...]
[Target: Garbage Planet-77, Corporate Outpost Recycling Station.]
[Annihilate all enemy forces, destroy infrastructure, seize transport vessel.]
[Estimated Starburst Points obtainable: 30,000 to 50,000.]
"Not enough."
Qin Yu stood up from the rooftop, letting the icy night wind beat against his tattered trench coat.
"Then we'll smash everything on this planet that's even remotely connected to the company!"
"I'm going to turn this shithole upside down!"
...
The next day.
Dawn had just broken.
A layer of grayish toxic mist hung in the air.
In the clearing by the sheet-metal shack.
Qin Yu sat imposingly, wiping down the pitch-black heavy Sniper Cannon in his hands.
Kneeling before him was Scar, his face ashen.
Scar's severed arm had been roughly bandaged. The bleeding had stopped, but he was as weak as a dead dog.
And behind Scar.
Over three hundred Scavengers stood in neat rows.
Led by Old K and Monkey, each man held automatic rifles and crude shotguns confiscated from Scar's men.
Though skinny, having eaten their fill last night, their eyes now all gleamed with a crazed ferocity.
"Scar."
Qin Yu stopped cleaning the gun, pressing its muzzle directly against Scar's forehead.
"Is the map done?"
Trembling, Scar pulled a crumpled piece of parchment from his chest and offered it up with both hands over his head.
"Boss... i-it's done."
"This shows the entire defensive layout of the recycling station."
Qin Yu snatched the parchment and gave it a glance.
The drawing was crude, but the key positions were clearly marked.
Three ten-meter-high electrified alloy barricades.
Eight fully-automatic heavy machine gun turrets on the perimeter.
Fifty "Scavenger"-class combat Mecha permanently stationed on the internal landing pad.
And one official company overseer, living in the core fortress, holding the access codes for the orbital defense towers.
"Fifty Mecha? Eight gun turrets?"
Qin Yu sneered, crumpling the parchment into a ball and tossing it aside.
"Pretty tight defense."
Scar swallowed hard, cautiously lifting his head.
"Boss, we really can't charge in head-on!"
"Those electrified alloy gates, even a heavy tank couldn't break through!"
"If those gun turrets open fire, these three hundred brothers will be turned into mincemeat before they even get close to the main gate!"
Hearing this, Old K and the others behind him also paled slightly.
Being unafraid to die was one thing; throwing your life away was another.
"Who the hell said I was going to charge in head-on?"
Qin Yu kicked Scar in the chest, sending him sprawling to the ground.
Qin Yu stood up, his sharp gaze sweeping across the entire gathering.
"Scar."
Qin Yu looked down at him from his height.
"You have to drive a transport truck to deliver scrap metal to the recycling station every month, don't you?"
Scar was taken aback for a moment, then nodded repeatedly.
"Yes... today's the 15th, it's exactly the day for delivering scrap."
"But Boss, they scan everything at the entrance!"
Scar grew anxious.
"Even a fly flying in would be picked up by the company's thermal imaging!"
"That's not your concern."
Qin Yu hefted the hundred-jin heavy [Kiss of Death] with one hand. The red glow of the Nano-Reactor was especially piercing in the early morning light.
"Old K."
"Here!" Old K quickly stepped forward.
"Go get Scar's scrap transport truck out."
A wild calculation gleamed in Qin Yu's eyes.
"Hollow out the cargo bed."
"I'll hide in the scrap pile with my gun."
Dead silence fell over the crowd.
Scar stared wide-eyed at Qin Yu as if looking at a madman.
"Boss! Have you lost your mind?!"
"The scanner will spot you, and the machine gun turrets will shred you to pieces in seconds!"
"I said, don't you worry about it!"
Qin Yu slammed the butt of his gun hard onto Scar's broken shoulder, making him scream in agony once more.
"You just focus on driving."
"Get through the security checkpoint, enter the gate, and park the truck next to their Mecha hangar."
Qin Yu turned his head, looking at the three hundred scavengers holding their rifles.
"You."
Qin Yu's voice thundered, making everyone's eardrums ache.
"All of you, hide in the ruins two kilometers outside the recycling station."
"Without my order, no one is to show themselves."
Old K nervously tightened his grip on the rifle in his hands.
"Boss, when do we make our move?"
Qin Yu grinned, revealing a bloodthirsty smile that sent chills down the spine.
"When the gate opens from the inside."
"When all the machine gun turrets go silent."
"When I blow every damn Mecha inside sky-high!"
Qin Yu abruptly raised his Sniper Cannon, pointing it straight at the sky.
"When you hear the explosion."
"Charge in!"
"Kill anyone you see! Loot everything you find!"
Qin Yu stared intently at this group of the lowest, most wretched trash.
"Do you want to eat moldy nutrient paste leftovers for the rest of your lives?"
"No!" Monkey was the first to roar, his eyes reddening.
"Do you want to be trampled like worms in the mud forever?"
Qin Yu bellowed again.
"No!!" The three hundred roared in unison, their voices shattering the toxic fog of the early morning.
"Then go and take down their nest for me!"
Qin Yu slung the gun over his shoulder and strode toward the dilapidated heavy-duty tracked transport truck.
"Today."
"I'm taking you all to eat something good!"
...
Half an hour later.
A heavy-duty tracked truck loaded with rusted scrap metal rumbled out of Rust Town.
Scar sat in the driver's seat, gripping the steering wheel with one hand, his body drenched in cold sweat.
Every breath he took trembled.
Because he knew.
Beneath that pile of foul-smelling scrap metal.
Lurked a living demon who dared to defy the laws of the universe.
And behind the transport truck.
Three hundred ragged scavengers, like ghosts, used the cover of the garbage mountains to silently advance toward the recycling station.
Target.
Black Recycling Station.
