On the way back to our rooms we decided to stop to eat something at the cafeteria.
The cafeteria lady was really surprised when she saw us, her eyes went from my face to the gem clipped to my uniform, then back to my face, her mouth hanging open for a full two seconds.
"You found it! With only that clue?"
I'd mostly ignored her clue, but I wasn't going to tell her that. And help was always appreciated.
"Yes. Thank you, I owe this gem thanks to you."
Lia's elbow was close to my ribs. She had her polite smile on, the one that didn't reach her eyes.
"We were also wondering what we can eat here?" She asked.
The old lady snapped back to herself and reached under the counter for a small piece of paper. "This is the menu. Since it's still early, we only have oatmeal with fruit."
"What is oatmeal?" I asked.
Lia and Zoe looked at me at the same time. Something passed between them, a shared decision that explaining it was not worth the effort.
