Chapter 9 - Dripping For Another Man

VIVIENNE's POV

This was insane.

No, I was insane!

Standing in front of Maddox's room with my head pressed against his door and thighs clenched tightly, I strained to decipher the sound filtering through the hard wood.

''Yesss, take it all in!'' Maddox cold, commanding lust filled voice slittered out of the room.

Fuck.

I pressed my ear into the door, my breath hanging painfully in my throat.

There was a gurgling sound, a gagging sound then a low, feminine moan cut through the masculine one.

My teeth involuntarily grazed my lips, my hand digging into the wood as a pool of warm liquid slowly filled my panties.

I should stop listening in.

I should leave.

But for some weird reason, my legs were being extremely selfish.

They were glued to the floor, chest heaving as I strained my ears, waiting for the next sound.

But it never came.

Instead, the door pulled open abruptly, removing the only thing supporting my weight.

A yelp escaped my lips, my eyes widening as I slowly fell forward, breath hitching.

I shut my eyes tightly, my body trembling as I awaited the impact.

Just as I thought I was going to hit the ground, strong arms gripped my waist tightly, stopping me just before I could hit the ground.

I froze.

His hand was firm around my waist, not tight enough to hurt me but just enough to keep me in place.

My eyes flew open, and those piercing ocean blue eyes came to sight.

Maddox was staring down at me, his chest heaving slightly, his grip on my waist unyielding as a blush furiously spread across my cheeks.

His eyes were dark, way darker than I'd known it to be.

Over his shoulders, I caught a glimpse of the Omega girl frantically gathering her things, but my focus was entirely laced on the smirk that slowly spread across Maddox's lips.

He leaned down just a fraction, his lips brushing the shell of my ear as he whispered under his breath, just loud enough for me to hear it.

''Jesus, Viv. Don't you ever get laid by Roman?''

The words felt like a bucket of ice water had been splashed all over my skin.

Shame…hot and suffocating, choked out the lingering arousal.

I shoved my palm against his rock-hard chest, using every ounce of strength I had to rip myself away from his grip.

I stumbled back a step, straightening my dress as my heart thumped wildly against my chest like I was fighting for air.

"Don't flatter yourself, Maddox," I snapped, my voice shaking despite my best efforts to sound cold, my hands still trembling at my sides.

I should have listened to Rhys and Cassian.

I should've never gone after Maddox.

Their warnings suddenly slipped into my head like a broken record.

''Let him go. Maddox gets sensitive about stuffs like this.'' Cassian's voice rang out in the cold room immediately after Maddox left, his hand clamping against my shoulders.

I shivered, the contact sending chills down my spine.

Goosebumps shot up my arm and my neck, my toe curling inwardly as the feeling spread through my body.

I stepped back slowly, avoiding eye contact.

As if regaining himself, Cassian's hand slowly dropped from my shoulder and it felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my chest.

He turned away from me and walked to Rhys who still had his eyes on the victims, his hands clenched tightly.

''Let's go clear your head.'' He muttered, yanking Rhys by the arm.

His eyes briefly skimmed me and I looked away, my heart hammering against my chest.

What the fuck was wrong with me?!

Why the fuck was my heart skipping and breath hitching for the triplets?!

And most especially, why am I worried about Maddox?!

My heart still thumped from even yelling at him.

That look in his eyes… that murderous look like he was going to do something really bad.

Cassian and Rhys didn't seem to care.

So why was I suddenly caring when I hated him the most out of his brothers?

''Luna Vivienne.'' Nurse Violeta's voice cut through my thoughts.

My eyes snapped to her and she still looked a shivering mess from the aftermath of Maddox's rage.

''Thank you.'' Her eyes shone with joy as she patted my hands.

I corked her a small smile, one that didn't quite reach my eyes before—

''Why the fuck were you eavesdropping?'' Maddox's harsh voice cut through my thoughts.

I broke out of my reverie and a small gasp escaped my lips.

Maddox had gotten close to me, his breath fanning against my neck.

''I—I don't know what you're talking about.'' I lied through my teeth, my eyes darting everywhere but him.

Maddox stepped closer. ''Then why are you shaking?''

My breath hitched.

Shaking? Who the fuck did he think he is?!

I took another step back, my eyes widening as my back collided with the cold wall. ''I'm not shaking.''

''Fuck, Viv'' He stepped into my space again, his lips curling into a tight smile.

''You are.'' He taunted, his voice dropping to a seductive purr. He tilted his head, inhaling deeply right at the crook of my neck.

My skin sizzled, my hand digging into the flesh of my palm to keep myself at bay.

''It's barely been a few hours since your husband left and you're already dripping for someone else?''

A sudden, sharp ache pooled heavily between my thighs.

My body completely betrayed me, responding to his dark, dominant energy with a primal need that sickened me to the core.

I tightly clenched my thighs together, desperately trying to friction-clasp the wetness, trying to hide the fact that he was completely right.

I was fucked up. And I hated myself for it.

I love Roman.

I wanted him, badly.

In the exact same position Maddox and the she-wolf were minutes ago.

So why the hell was I falling apart over his little cooked up game with his brothers?

I should unclench my thighs, push Maddox away and leave. Yet, his suffocating aura was twisting my insides and clawing at my sanity.

He suddenly chuckled, a low guttural sound that sounded more like mockery. Like he knew exactly the consequences of what he was doing.

A slow, wicked smirk spread across his lips as his gaze dropped to my tightly clenched thighs. ''Does that feel good, Viv?'' His voice was barely above a whisper, sending chills down my spine.

''Are you having enough fun pressing your legs together? Or do you want me to—''

BUZZZZ BUZZZZZ

The vibration of the phone in my pocket cut through Maddox's next words.

A huge sigh of relief escapes my lips, the ache in my chest clearing up.

I slowly pulled out my phone and my hand started to tremble violently as I stared at the caller ID, the bile in my throat dropping to the pit of my stomach alongside guilt.

Roman!

I gasped, pushing against Maddox's chest with all the strength I could muster.

He didn't budge at first, his eyes flashing to the screen then back to me with a fierce, possessive intensity. Then he slowly stepped back by an inch, giving me breathing space.

I swallowed hard, my teeth digging into the inside of my cheeks before sliding the button and picking up the call with trembling hands.

I pressed the phone to my ear. ''R-Roman?'' I choked out, desperately trying to smooth the hitches in my breath.

''Vivi?'' Roman's deep comforting voice crackled through the phone.

Hearing him, my eyes began to water.

He had only been gone a few hours but I missed him.

I missed him badly.

That had to be the only reasonable reason for my continuous arousal.

It wasn't because of Maddox or Rhys or Cassian.

It was because I missed Roman.

''Hey, baby. I'm hitting the borders of Silver wolf pack in a few. Comms are going to drop immediately I get to the other side. So I wanted to hear your voice one last time.''

Warmth filled my chest.

''Roman, I…'' I glanced up. Maddox hadn't moved, but his gaze was entirely fixed on me.

His gaze was primal, a look that made my body tremble.

''Vivi? Are you okay?'' Roman's worried voice cut through my thoughts. ''Your voice sounds breathless. Are you crying again?''

''No! No, I'm fine!'' I lied quickly, my chest heaving. ''I-I just ran that's all, I'm just really busy.. I—''

He cut me off. ''I understand. I'll be back home in no time.'' He muttered and I could already hear the smile in his voice.

I nodded, knowing fully well he couldn't see me. Still, the silence between us somewhat kept me grounded.

The beeping sound of the phone hit right after.

He hung up.

''You just…ran?'' A low chuckle had me snapping my head up.

Maddox had stepped forward, his face filled with mockery and something unreadable.

My legs trembled, my hand curling into fists by my side.

''If only Roman knew…'' He stepped even closer, our bodies colliding.

I froze, my breath hitching.

He started to lean forward, his eyes slowly lowering to my lips.

My gaze dropped to his and I involuntarily wet my lips, my legs turning to jelly.

His face was only inches away from mine and he kept leaning closer, and closer, his lips almost touching—

''Maddox?!''

A voice rang out and Maddox flew away from me immediately, taking several steps back like my breath stunk.

I stared at him confusedly, my eyes narrowing as my breath came in ragged gasps.

Then my eyes flew the other way…

Rhys walked in, his eyes flying between Maddox and I for a brief second before finally stopping at Maddox.

''What?'' Maddox's voice was hard as ice, a complete contrast to the softness of it a few seconds ago.

Rhys corked him an eyebrow before brushing his hand through his hair.

''Sasha is here.''

My heart stopped.
