The North, the Wall, Space-Time Illusion
"You are all existences that should not have appeared; you should be devoured by us!"
As Wheelchair Bran spoke, countless Brans of different forms appeared within this deathly silent space—half-man half-corpse, wights, the Night King, kings, and all sorts of either twisted or normal existences.
As these figures appeared, Wheelchair Bran's voice began to echo, or rather, these Brans had been repeating this sound all along.
"Is this your plan? That is to say, the strange situation on the continent of Essos was also caused by you?"
Jon didn't feel any fear toward this scene that resembled a horror movie; on the contrary, Jon learned a few things from the other's words.
Why the Seven, who once manifested miracles, would turn into a few wood carvings, and why the Lord of Light's prophecies were always misinterpreted—all of this was actually because they were incomplete!
Past, Present, and Future were the three most powerful rules in this world, followed by those miscellaneous gods and power systems.
The Children of the Forest had always been the existences that maintained the balance of power, but once the rules were broken, everything changed.
At this moment, Bran—or rather, the consciousness of the rule representing the Present—was truly very displeased. Due to the Children of the Forest breaking the game, human souls and consciousness directly entered the Old Gods, and it was born because of the influence of these human souls.
It was precisely because of the influence of these human souls that it developed thoughts and desires, and wanted to ascend to that supreme position.
In the consciousness of human souls, a king controls the life and death of everyone and the execution of the state; this fellow wanted to become the king of this world, controlling the world's execution and manipulating the life and death of all things.
"Then what does that have to do with me?"
"You shouldn't be here at all. Why can't I find your past, nor explore your future?"
Facing Jon's indifference, the Bran sitting in the wheelchair appeared very angry. It was extremely annoyed by Jon's rule-breaking behavior and wished it could kill Jon immediately.
"I will let you know what a true god is!"
After Wheelchair Bran finished speaking, he disappeared instantly, and soon, that black mist monster appeared in this space once again.
With the appearance of the black mist monster, cracks like those in glass appeared in this space, making the surrounding flow of time increasingly unstable.
Furthermore, as the black mist monster moved, waves of distortion rippled through the air like ripples.
Next, an even more massive black mist monster appeared before Jon. Its size and appearance were much larger than the demonic dragon Jon had transformed into, looking like a Titan from myths and legends, exuding a suffocating sense of vastness.
The pressure from this monster was even more terrifying; where it stood, even the surrounding air seemed filled with oppression, as if all power would naturally weaken before it.
Every movement it made seemed to resonate with the power of the entire space, and every step it took made the ground tremble, as if it couldn't bear its massive weight.
"Roar, roar, roar…"
As the terrifying monster took shape, it once again let out a very frightening roar, a sound that seemed to act directly upon the soul.
It caused Jon's dragon body to shudder, as if he had been struck by lightning; it was only then that Jon truly realized the strength of this fellow.
Moreover, this fellow's attacks didn't stop at once; the surrounding temporal turbulence developed even more cracks after being hit by these roars.
Following that, countless massive black shadows emerged from the surrounding temporal turbulence. These shadows had various forms—some like sharp arrows, some like fierce beasts, some like ghosts. They surrounded the black mist monster like its guards, or perhaps its weapons.
The demonic dragon Jon felt unprecedented pressure at this moment. His body was also affected in this turbulence; his movements became sluggish, and his strength felt heavy.
Every flap of his wings felt like resisting powerful resistance from all directions, as if the surrounding space was compressing his body.
"Swoosh, swoosh…"
"Roar, roar, roar…"
The black mist monster opposite him indeed had stronger control over this space; it seemed able to manipulate the surrounding black shadows at will to launch a fierce attack on Jon.
Countless black shadows of various forms attacked under the control of this fellow. They swarmed toward Jon's dragon body from all directions. Although none were as large as Jon, their numbers were vast.
Under their continuous siege, Jon's dragon body looked as if it were wearing a spotted coat. These monsters used various methods to attack Jon, seemingly trying to break through his incredibly strong dragon scales.
"Roar, roar, roar…"
Under Jon's control, the demonic dragon resisted with all its might. Dragonfire instantly enveloped his entire body, making him look as if he were burning.
The flames Jon spat out appeared exceptionally dazzling in this turbulence, but under the continuous impact of the black shadows, his flames were gradually suppressed, and their light grew dim.
Seeing that these fellows' attacks were successful, the massive black shadow also launched an attack. It was like a venomous snake lurking in the dark, fiercely baring its terrifying fangs at Jon.
"Roar…"
After being attacked by the opponent's tentacles, the demonic dragon Jon had transformed into let out a roar of immense pain. This sound was like a thunderclap, causing even the surrounding space to ripple slightly.
At this moment, Jon felt very uncomfortable. His entire body had only one sensation: exhaustion. It was a tiredness that made even his soul want to fall into a deep sleep.
In a daze, Jon felt the power on his body being stripped away, as if someone were tearing at his status panel.
In the space outside, Jon's dragon body was also shrinking at a rate visible to the naked eye, like a leaking ball.
The blackish-purple energy trickled away and was quickly absorbed by the black shadow, while Jon fell directly into a deep slumber.
---
"In ancient times, the world was ruled by the Demon King, and humanity fell into pain and torment. Just as everyone sighed to the heavens, the light of hope descended…"
In his daze, Jon seemed to hear such a passage. His last consciousness only remained at the moment the black monster attacked him; after that, he knew nothing.
Shortly after, Jon suddenly opened his eyes. Before him appeared a diamond-shaped gem shimmering with golden light. Its surface was not at all regular, as if it had been polished haphazardly.
"Eh!? What is this? Where's the system?"
Usually, whenever something approached Jon, its data and information would appear on Jon's status panel. However, when he saw this diamond-shaped gem, the system had no reaction at all.
Helpless, Jon could only reach out his hand toward this strange golden gem, wanting to know what it actually was.
"You have finally arrived here!"
"What?"
Just as Jon touched the golden gem, the voice inside suddenly startled him.
"What are you?"
"I am the Future, or rather, I am your former system. The reason you came here is because of me!"
After hearing the other's words, Jon didn't ask silly questions like "Can I go back?" or "Why was I chosen?"
Because asking anything now was meaningless. The most important thing was how Jon should break the deadlock. The existence of Bran and the Night King seemed to be related to this fellow. Based on previous records, Jon already understood that this fellow was the reason those two existences had always been hostile to him.
"Based on the information in your memory, I found a power system with rules similar to mine. And now, after that fellow took my last bits of chaotic power, I have completely mastered the power of the rules and no longer need to worry about being contaminated."
"Contaminated!? What do you mean?"
Jon could barely understand the previous words, but he was a bit confused by the latter part.
"I represent the rules of the Future and Hope, but these rules are not pure rules. Since the power of the rules in this world is quite vague, my power has never completed its sublimation…"
Under the explanation of the golden diamond-shaped gem, Jon also understood that this fellow was actually the Lady of Light, the Lord of Light, and the Seven. Or rather, in the long river of history, it had appeared in various existences and forms.
Much like the three-eyed crow and the others, this fellow was also seeking sublimation and transcendence, but it wasn't as aggressive as those two; it only wanted to complete its sublimation step by step.
Meanwhile, the other two fellows who planned to merge into one intended to destroy everything to start anew. After eliminating all living beings, they planned to use the weirwood as the mother tree to recreate a batch of existences more beneficial to this world.
The Children of the Forest's hatred for humans had never actually vanished; instead, it had persisted, to the point where it seriously affected the execution of those other two rules.
In their view, only by eliminating the human race, which is full of destructive desires, can this world continue to be maintained.
"Just because of different methods and philosophies, there must be destruction and battle?"
After hearing the other's explanation, Jon muttered this sentence to himself.
Perhaps the Long Night of the past was an implementation of this philosophy, only it was stopped by the existence before Jon's eyes.
