Chapter 116 - Chapter 116

Deep within Vanaheimr, in a forge transformed from a natural lava cave, the God-King 'Narcissus' stood quietly.

He did not kindle an earthly fire nor strike an anvil, but merely extended his pale, slender fingers and traced them through the air.

As his fingertips moved, the hardest ancient wood from the forests of Vanaheimr, rare metallic essences buried deep in ley lines, moon crystals precipitated from the depths of lakes, and even traces of primordial energy emanating from the roots of the World Tree were drawn by invisible forces.

He used no chisel or hammer, but 'wove' and 'shaped' with pure will and an understanding of the essence of matter.

As the light flowed, the matter in his hands was like obedient clay, precisely decomposed, reorganized, and adorned with mysterious runes.

A few days later, a pair of wine cups appeared, simple and elegant in form, yet filled with a restrained divine light.

They were made of dark golden unknown wood, intertwined with silver-white metal, and the cup walls naturally grew with fine grain patterns of the World Tree.

The most amazing thing was that when 'Narcissus' poured ordinary mead into one of the cups, no matter how he poured, the wine in the cup seemed connected to an invisible spring, always maintaining a full state and emitting an increasingly mellow aroma.

The Horn of Plenty was not an artifact for battle, but it deeply understood material circulation and energy creation, and was also a symbol of abundance, friendship, and inexhaustibility.

'Narcissus' held the cups in his hand and, instead of sending messengers, personally embarked on a journey to the kingdom of the dwarves, Svartálfaheimr.

Instead of playing tricks like Loki, or going directly to the workshops of the most famous brothers, the Ívaldi sons or Brokkr, he went to the central gathering place of the dwarves and requested a meeting with the dwarf elders and chieftains.

His appearance caused great vigilance among the dwarves.

An alien God-King personally entering their underground realm was unprecedented.

In a huge underground lava hall, many dwarf artifact craftsmen and leaders with long beards and sharp eyes gathered to scrutinize the uninvited guest.

'Narcissus' sensed the suspicion and xenophobia in their eyes.

He said nothing more, simply presented the pair of 'Inexhaustible Cups'.

"Dear dwarf craftsmen, masters of the secrets of earth and fire," he said in a calm, respectful voice.

"I, Narcissus, ruler of Vanaheimr, bring this not as a show, but as a gift, a tribute to your great skills, and as a sincere expression of my desire for cooperation."

The dwarves suspiciously took the wine cups and examined them carefully. At first, they were indifferent, but soon their expressions changed.

As the best craftsmen, they could see the difference and subtlety in this method of forging the wine cups—it was not hammered forging, but rather 'growth' and 'definition'.

And the inexhaustible characteristic touched upon the level of law creation, its complexity even surpassing that of many powerful artifacts.

"This... how was this done?" An old dwarf with a beard braided into a complex plait couldn't help but ask, his eyes shining with the light of a techno-enthusiast.

'Narcissus' smiled slightly, concealing nothing, but in language understandable to dwarves, he briefly explained the principles of energy circulation and material stability.

This revealed a technical path and an unfathomable control that they had not yet trodden.

"I know that the pride of dwarves lies in the masterpieces created by their own hands and wisdom," 'Narcissus' looked around at the dwarves.

"I am not here to ask you to serve, but to achieve an exchange and cooperation in skills."

He pointed to the pair of wine cups: "This thing is proof of our sincerity and a demonstration of our own abilities. We Vanir respect craftsmanship and contracts. What we need is not a slave, but a partner side by side."

He proposed a collaborative plan: Vanaheimr would provide unique materials that were difficult for dwarves to obtain, as well as unique theories of enchantment, while the dwarves would use their unparalleled forging skills to create a batch of well-crafted weapons and armor for the Vanir race, incorporating the skills of both sides. This was not a one-time deal, but a long-term mutually beneficial trade and technological exchange relationship.

"We believe," Narcissus finally said,

"true strength comes from the combination of wisdom and the refinement of skill, not from trickery and provocation. The one from Ásgarðr may be accustomed to conquering and seizing, but Vanaheimr is willing to exchange respect and win-win results for friendship and cooperation."

The dwarves fell silent and discussed among themselves. In their dealings with Ásgarðr, they often felt used and despised.

They had already studied the methods of Odin and Loki. And this God-King before them had come in person, displayed outstanding skill, shown respect, and offered equal and mutually beneficial cooperation... This feeling was completely different.

The Inexhaustible Cup was not only a demonstration of technology but also a symbol: cooperation with the Vanir could bring a constant stream of inspiration and opportunities.

Finally, the old dwarf with the braided beard, as a representative, stepped forward, placed his right hand on his chest, and solemnly saluted 'Narcissus':

"God-King Narcissus, your skill and conduct have earned our respect. Dwarves only befriend true craftsmen and reliable partners. You have proven that you are both."

He took the 'Inexhaustible Cup' and raised it high: "We accept your proposal! Svartálfaheimr is ready to establish cooperation with Vanaheimr! Let our hammers sound for new friendship and shared strength!"

In the underground hall, enthusiastic applause from the dwarves and the roar of beaten shields resounded.

'Narcissus' calmly accepted all this. He knew that with technology, respect, and a win-win strategy, he had bypassed Loki-like intrigues and secured a reliable group of allies for the Vanir.

This batch of equipment, jointly created by the Dwarf Master and Vanir wisdom, would significantly strengthen the power of the Vanir.

P.S.: Loki cuts off the beautiful golden hair of Thor's wife, Sif, and promises to get it back for her under Thor's threat.

He finds two famous teams of dwarf craftsmen—the Sons of Ívaldi and Brokkr and Eitri.

To the Sons of Ívaldi, he lies about the Brokkr brothers and claims they are the greatest craftsmen in the world.

To the Brokkr brothers, he paraphrases (and exaggerates) the contempt the Sons of Ívaldi have for them, calling them 'clumsy oafs'.

Both dwarves are enraged and accept Loki's wager on craftsmanship. It is decided that each will create three of the most exquisite treasures, and the winner will be judged by the gods.

This provoked wager ultimately results in a series of famous artifacts for the Æsir, including Thor's hammer Mjölnir, the golden ring Draupnir, and the golden-bristled boar Gullinbursti.
