Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: The Mysterious Branch Pavilion Master

"Mother, was it pleasurable?" After the climax, Li Xuan released his tight grip on Chu Qingyi's waist and whispered gently by her ear.

At this moment, his member remained nestled between her thighs, its swollen crimson tip protruding prominently from her legs, adorned with a glistening strand of pearly white that slowly dripped onto the ground.

Their simultaneous release had carried them both to the peak of passion. Well-versed in the arts of love, Li Xuan could feel the tremors coursing through the delicate frame in his embrace. As her honeyed passage, still clasping his shaft, gushed with torrents of nectar and her lower body convulsed uncontrollably, he knew Chu Qingyi had reached her zenith under the stimulation of his manhood. A secret thrill and swelling pride filled his heart.

It seemed his member was truly formidable—even the aloof Fairy Qingyi had to submit beneath its power.

With such thoughts, a grin nearly split his face from ear to ear.

Still immersed in the afterglow of ecstasy, Chu Qingyi's beautiful eyes were dazed, her exquisite cheeks flushed crimson. Her disheveled hair cascaded wildly, and her elegant robes, now wrinkled from their passionate encounter, bore the marks of their union. The makeshift bedding of dried grass beneath them had been torn asunder by their fervent movements, scattering straw haphazardly everywhere.

As the waves of pleasure receded and the blush faded from her skin, rationality returned to Chu Qingyi, leaving her heart in turmoil. The vivid memory of their wanton scene replayed in her mind—especially how that member had delivered such intense pleasure, a sensation she had never experienced before. It was as if she had ascended to heaven, treading on soft clouds, every cell in her body dancing with joy. A tingling, euphoric bliss swept through every nerve, like being lost in an illusory paradise—so real yet elusive.

What unsettled her even more was that this ecstasy had been brought by Li Xuan!

The moment his tip pressed against her entrance, her instinct had screamed to resist and reject, yet she found herself utterly powerless to do so.

Searching her soul, she knew that if it were Li Ye in his place, she would not have instinctively refused. Instead, a faint anticipation would have stirred within her—a curiosity whether Li Ye's manhood could evoke the same rapturous delight.

But now, the one beside her was Li Xuan—an ordinary youth barely in his teens, and worse, the sworn son of the man she loved most!

Chu Qingyi's head throbbed with agony. She didn't know how to face this situation. Reason told her to push away this impudent boy, to sever the offending flesh that had defiled her, or even to slay Li Xuan in vengeance. Yet, her body's instinctual responses filled her with shame—she could hardly resist Li Xuan's closeness, especially that thick, lengthy member. Every time she recalled how that very same repulsive shaft had delivered pleasure enough to make her feel transcendent, she was torn between adoration and resentment.

"Mother? Mother?" Noticing her prolonged silence, Li Xuan placed his hands on her shoulders and gave a gentle shake.

"Don't touch me." Chu Qingyi broke free from his grasp, her tone icy.

"What's wrong? Weren't you fine just a moment ago..." Li Xuan was utterly bewildered. The woman who had been moaning incessantly under his thrusts had suddenly turned cold and distant.

"I said don't touch me!"

Her words, though brief, were laced with suppressed anger. She struggled to contain the nameless fury within, but Li Xuan's renewed physical contact caused it to erupt like a volcano, accompanied by a furious roar.

Startled, Li Xuan withdrew his hand as if shocked by electricity, instinctively shrinking back a few inches, afraid of accidentally provoking her again.

"Go sleep over there."

Chu Qingyi's voice rang out once more, returning to its usual calmness, with no trace of the earlier anger.

Li Xuan had no choice but to comply, gathering his clothes and retreating to his original corner.

Curled up on the tattered straw mat, Chu Qingyi's heart felt as if a bottle of mixed flavors had been overturned—complex and unsettled.

The mat, having endured their intense movements, was now in tatters, scattered in disarray here and there. The chill from the ground seeped directly into Chu Qingyi's body, making her shiver uncontrollably.

The dampness of her undergarments starkly reminded her of the scenes that had just unfolded. Even she herself did not understand why, under the invasion of his manhood, she had felt no resistance to Li Xuan's intimate touch. Yet once the pleasure brought by that manhood faded, even the slightest contact from Li Xuan made her instinctively recoil.

Could it be... that the male member truly holds such fascination for me?

The sudden question that flashed through her mind plunged her into confusion.

Li Xuan, huddled in the corner and watching Chu Qingyi's back, was equally bewildered. He couldn't comprehend what this woman before him was thinking. Throughout history, it had always been men who could walk away without a second thought after intimacy. Why was it that in his case... after being taken advantage of, he was now being cast aside into the cold?

Ah... a woman's heart is as deep and unfathomable as the ocean...

Li Xuan couldn't help but sigh, lifting his head to glance out the window. The night was at its darkest, and dawn was still several hours away. Having busied himself all night, he simply lay down on the ground fully clothed, adjusting his body into a comfortable sleeping position. After a few yawns, he finally succumbed to the overwhelming drowsiness and fell into a deep sleep.

Before long, thunderous snores echoed through the desolate, dilapidated temple, sounding especially loud in the silence.

Already troubled and restless, Chu Qingyi turned and shot him a resentful glare, tossing and turning, unable to find sleep.

The already fragmented straw beneath her was scattered everywhere by her restless movements, the sharp, broken ends poking into her soft flesh.

Stinging pains pricked multiple parts of her body, and in her growing irritation, Chu Qingyi simply sat up, leaning against the large foot of the Buddha statue as she gazed up at the sky outside the window.

The night sky after the rain was exceptionally enchanting. Countless dazzling stars dotted the silky, satin-like expanse, clustering around a bright, full moon. A faint, almost imperceptible mist veiled the surface of the night sky, making it appear even more profound and ethereal.

Nearby, a towering tree stood lush and verdant, its tender green leaves taking on a serene shade of deep blue-black in the thick darkness, swaying gently in the breeze. From time to time, the calls of unknown birds could be heard, likely a few playful creatures singing under the cover of night.

Chu Qingyi found herself captivated, the restlessness in her heart gradually settling into calm.

The moonlight was cool and clear, and the woman bathed in its glow seemed even more aloof.

At this moment, Chu Qingyi's expression was serene. Her exquisite face, which required no makeup to captivate men from all walks of life, was now softened by a gentle, silvery moonlight, making her features appear even more cool and sacred, like a celestial maiden from the heavens—so divine that one glance would inspire feelings of unworthiness and deter any thought of defilement.

Her long, fluttering lashes, curved like palm-leaf fans, shimmered as her eyes, bright as a galaxy, seemed to hold the entire Milky Way within them. Flecks of light danced in their depths, possessing a magical allure that drew anyone who gazed into them irresistibly deeper.

After what felt like an eternity, the fluttering of her lashes gradually slowed, finally resting gently upon her eyes.

Inside the dilapidated temple, the mother and son, who had spent the night in intimacy, now lay fast asleep.

Outside, the night was profound and silent, with no sign of human life for miles around. Only the crumbling temple stood steadfast, as it had for decades.

The tranquil night flowed like water, broken only by the tireless chirping of a few summer cicadas hidden deep in the grass, singing until the very end of their brief lives.

...

The next day.

When Li Xuan struggled to open his eyes, the sky was already bright. He glanced around in a daze, his expression groggy, before lying back down, intending to return to sleep.

Just as he was about to drift off again, he jolted awake. Rubbing his blurry eyes in disbelief, he realized that Chu Qingyi was no longer at the foot of the Buddha statue.

A shiver of fear ran through him, instantly banishing all sleepiness. He scrambled to his feet, frantically searching for any trace of her.

"Mother, where are you? Mother?" Li Xuan staggered, his voice trembling with tears.

He circled the Buddha statue but found no sign of Chu Qingyi.

Panic seized him, terrified of being left alone in this desolate, godforsaken place.

"Mother, come out! Don't scare me like this! Mother! Please, come out!" he sobbed, tears streaming down his face.

Just as he was about to venture outside to search, a familiar figure appeared in his line of sight.

"Qing... Mother... where did you go..." Li Xuan wept with relief, his eyes fixed on the beloved figure he thought he had lost.

In contrast to his emotional outburst, Chu Qingyi merely cast him a cool glance before walking back to the foot of the Buddha statue and sitting down.

"Mother, you... you mustn't abandon me... If it's because of last night... even if you... hit me or scold me, I'll accept it... just... just don't leave me behind... But I don't understand... clearly, you... you also felt..."

"Enough! Do not speak of this again!"

Li Xuan's face was a picture of pitiful distress as he poured out his grievances. He thought Chu Qingyi was still angry about the previous night, but he couldn't comprehend why. In matters of intimacy, both parties could find pleasure, so why did she keep evading her own instincts and placing all the blame on him?

In his agitation, he blurted out his most honest thoughts, but before he could finish, Chu Qingyi cut him off sharply.

"But... but clearly, you..."

"One more word, and I'll throw you out!"

Forced into silence, Li Xuan closed his mouth and said no more.

"Let us both pretend this never happened," Chu Qingyi said calmly. "Once we retrieve the elixir from the Mysterious Pavilion, my injuries will heal completely. Li Ye will also have the strength to break through the Yin-Yang convergence. The day he succeeds will be the day we depart." She saw no reason to hide the truth from Li Xuan any longer and laid out the true purpose of their journey, along with their plans for the near future.

"You... you're leaving?" Li Xuan stood frozen in place as if struck by lightning, the word "departure" echoing relentlessly in his mind.

Chu Qingyi fell silent, turning away to gaze silently at the imposing statue of the Buddha.

She was leaving... leaving...

Unable to accept this reality, Li Xuan wore a desolate expression. His hair swayed gently in the breeze, his eyes filled with disbelief, and his mouth slightly agape, he looked as though his soul had left his body—utterly lost and disheartened.

"It's still early," Chu Qingyi finally said with a hint of reluctance, her thin lips parting as she spoke calmly.

Snapping back to reality, Li Xuan carefully pondered the meaning behind her words. In other words, as long as Li Ye had not yet made a breakthrough, they could not return to the Celestial Master's Mansion.

Even as a mere farmer, he had heard that breakthroughs for immortals were incredibly difficult, often taking three to five years to accomplish.

Once he had thought it through, the gloom on Li Xuan's face vanished entirely. After all, they still had three to five years. He could worry about their departure when the time truly came.

As for what she had said about last night's events being as if they had never happened...

Li Xuan chuckled inwardly. She had likely said this countless times before, yet when the moment arrived, she was always completely at the mercy of his manhood, unable to hold back her soft, panting moans each time.

"Alright, let's go," Chu Qingyi said, casting one last glance at the dilapidated temple before instructing Li Xuan to continue their journey.

The two traveled on and off, passing mostly through remote mountain villages and countryside. After brief rests, they would resume their journey.

The sky grew darker as the sun rose in the east and set in the west. Just as it was about to dip below the horizon, the mother and son finally spotted a sizable town in the distance.

The town was surrounded by tall, dark gray walls, giving off an air of solemnity and grandeur.

From afar, they could see a plaque hanging above the central gate, inscribed with three elegant, gilded characters: Qinglong City.

This was it!

Chu Qingyi breathed a sigh of relief, secretly grateful they had reached their destination before nightfall.

Without pausing, the two hurried toward Qinglong City.

At the very last moment before the city gates were to close, they rushed to the entrance. The stern-faced soldier initially insisted that no one would be allowed through once the gates were locked. However, upon seeing Chu Qingyi, whose face was veiled, he was captivated. Though her features were hidden, her breathtakingly beautiful eyes alone were enough to prove the unparalleled beauty of the woman behind the veil.

Her graceful and elegant figure was unmatched by any woman in Qinglong City.

Mesmerized, the soldier quickly opened the gates to let them pass.

"No wonder this is a place established by the Mysterious Jade Pavilion. Its scale and grandeur far surpass Jinling City," Li Xuan remarked, looking around with wide-eyed wonder like a country bumpkin visiting a grand estate for the first time.

Though it was late, the city was still bustling with activity. Street vendors called out their wares one after another, and the aroma of various foods filled the air, enticing passersby to stop and linger.

Shops of all kinds lined the streets—herbal medicine stores, blacksmiths, pastry shops, fabric stores, rice shops, and more—offering an astonishing variety of goods. It seemed there was nothing one couldn't find here, limited only by imagination.

Li Xuan was dazzled by the array of novelties he had never seen before. Even a few distinctively featured Western travelers passed by. If not for their ordinary clothing, he might have mistaken them for demons in disguise.

He and Chu Qingyi were the last group of travelers to enter the city today. Had they been even a moment later, once the city gates were locked, not a single soul—not even a mouse—could slip through. This gave a clear idea of how strictly the curfew was enforced in Qinglong City.

Though her face was veiled with a light gauze, Chu Qingyi's unparalleled grace and the ethereal, saintly aura she exuded still drew frequent, lingering gazes from passersby—mostly men.

"Wow! Since when did our Qinglong City have such a stunning beauty?" remarked a middle-aged man with a thick beard, dressed like a butcher, unable to hold back his admiration as he watched Chu Qingyi's retreating figure.

"Indeed, indeed! Look at her figure, that slender waist, that curve… tsk tsk, even the women at the Yihong House can't compare," another man chimed in, his eyes fixed unwaveringly on Chu Qingyi.

"If she's really that beautiful, why cover her face with a veil? Maybe she's too hideous to show it!"

This discordant remark came from a plump, middle-aged woman with a round, sallow face dotted with pockmarks, her expression twisted with jealousy.

The two men shot her an annoyed glance before walking away.

"Mother, is this big sister a fairy like the ones you told me about?" A little boy, no more than five or six years old, gazed innocently at Chu Qingyi and asked the woman beside him in a childish voice.

"Ah, well… don't talk nonsense, child. I've never seen a fairy, but this sister does seem even more beautiful than one," the woman replied tenderly, patting the boy's head.

"Then I want to marry the fairy sister when I grow up."

The boy's bold declaration drew laughter from the adults around them.

Li Xuan listened to the heartfelt praises from the crowd, especially the awestruck gazes directed at Chu Qingyi, and couldn't help but straighten his back, swelling with pride. He quickened his pace, trying to walk side by side with her.

"Damn! No way, how can such a beauty be accompanied by a toad?"

"What toad? He must be her servant!"

Just as Li Xuan was basking in his pride, a few murmurs—neither too loud nor too soft—drifted from the crowd, reaching his ears.

They actually called him a toad?! He wanted to see which blind fool had the nerve to say that!

"Do not stir up trouble," Chu Qingyi said calmly, casting him a fleeting glance.

Li Xuan, who had been ready to flare up, instantly deflated at her words.

"Wow! She really is a fairy descended to the mortal realm—even her voice is enchanting!"

"Yes, just the glimpse of her eyes is enough to captivate one's soul. I bet all the women in Qinglong City would pale in comparison if they stood beside her!"

"Not necessarily. I think the mistress of the Xuanji Pavilion could rival her."

"Oh? You mean the deputy pavilion master?"

"They're not the same type at all. If this fairy before us is like the moon in the sky, then the deputy pavilion master is a blazing sun—their temperaments are completely different, impossible to compare!"

"From the way you talk, it sounds like you want to have both! Personally, I find the deputy pavilion master quite fiery-tempered, and there's something odd about her demeanor, though I can't quite put my finger on it."

The conversations of passersby fell clearly into Chu Qingyi's ears. The hot-tempered woman they spoke of was likely the yet-unmet branch master of the Mystic Pavilion.

Eccentric in temperament, huh...

Chu Qingyi's delicate brows furrowed slightly. It seemed she would have to tread carefully on this journey to retrieve the pill. Even as Gu Yishuang's granddaughter, a powerful dragon could hardly suppress a local snake. If this branch master truly proved unreasonable, she would need to prepare countermeasures in advance.

Seeing that night was about to fall, an impromptu visit now seemed inappropriate. After a moment's consideration, she entered an inn, deciding to rest for the night and inquire about the exact location of the Mystic Pavilion branch tomorrow.

"Two of your best rooms, please," Chu Qingyi said calmly to the middle-aged man who appeared to be the innkeeper.

The man was bent over his accounts, fingers flying as he rattled the abacus beads with practiced ease.

Hearing her voice, the innkeeper immediately looked up with a welcoming smile. But when his eyes fell upon Chu Qingyi—dressed in pure white robes and exuding an aura of noble elegance—he froze in place. His gaze fixed on her, as if all other people and sounds had vanished, leaving only this woman's every subtle expression.

What a peerless beauty!

The innkeeper marveled inwardly. Travelers from all directions often stayed at his inn, yet in all these years, he had never seen a woman of such stunning appearance. He became utterly entranced, even neglecting the abacus in his hands.

"Innkeeper! Are you deaf?! Two best rooms!!" Li Xuan glared irritably at this audacious man who dared openly covet Chu Qingyi's beauty right before his eyes.

"Oh, oh, two best rooms, right this way, miss! Our inn also offers various specialty snacks from Azure Dragon City. Just let me know if you need anything!" The innkeeper, snapping back to reality, greeted Chu Qingyi with his trademark enthusiastic smile, completely ignoring Li Xuan's presence.

This infuriated Li Xuan. Deliberately stepping forward, he roughly bumped the innkeeper aside with his shoulder, taking his place to walk alongside Chu Qingyi.

After doing so, he shot a challenging glance at the innkeeper.

Just then, Chu Qingyi suddenly stopped and asked softly, "What's the difference between your best rooms and the ordinary ones?"

The innkeeper hurriedly explained, "The best rooms are larger and more finely decorated than the ordinary ones. Located on the second floor, they offer a quieter environment. You can even see the main street outside by opening the window—the liveliest street in our Azure Dragon City. The ordinary rooms, however, are noisier, as the first floor houses not only guest rooms but also dining patrons."

"One best room, one ordinary room." With that, Chu Qingyi proceeded upstairs on her own.

The innkeeper beside her understood her meaning perfectly. He quickly had a waiter attend to Li Xuan while he himself eagerly followed behind her, chattering incessantly about the inn's specialties.

Left standing alone, Li Xuan was dumbfounded, on the verge of tears. He shot a resentful glare at the innkeeper, then looked with pitiful eyes at Chu Qingyi's retreating figure. Finally, he had no choice but to follow the waiter to the room at the very end of the first-floor corridor.

"Miss, this is our finest room. Does it meet your satisfaction?" the innkeeper asked with a smile, slightly bowing as he spoke to Chu Qingyi.

Though it was called the best room, it was hardly different from an ordinary guest room, aside from a few more furnishings. Still, it was far more luxurious than the Li family's old residence in Jinling City.

Chu Qingyi gave a slight nod, took out a silver ingot to hand to the innkeeper, and signaled that she wished to rest.
