Chapter 177 - Chapter 176 : Gate

Annie took a deep breath. She pressed her hands flat against the flayed-skin pages and forced the archaic, dead syllables from her throat. "Kunda... astratta... montosse!"

The moment the ancient language hit the air, the heavy timber walls groaned violently. The temperature plummeted. A cacophony of wet, overlapping laughter echoed from the wood itself.

"Hehehehe..."

The low giggle bled into a sudden, piercing scream from beneath the floorboards.

"MAKE IT STOP!" The wails vibrated in everyone's teeth, punctured by shrill, mocking cackles from unseen entities. "We see you..."

"Oh fuck, oh fuck, we're going to die..." James babbled, biting his nails raw, pacing frantically as the noise grew louder.

Henry didn't hesitate. He stepped into James's path and delivered a swift strike to the back of his neck. The man folded instantly, collapsing onto the floorboards.

"Sorry," Henry muttered, stepping over him. "The last thing we need in this mess is a blabbering fool."

Annie didn't stop, gripping the table's edges, raising her voice over the howling. "Khandar... estrada... khandos!"

With a deafening crash, the heavy front door exploded inward. A horrific mass of dead, pale limbs and gnashing teeth shot through the doorway with a raw, metallic shriek, lunging straight for her.

Henry pivoted, thrusting his palm toward the breach.

'Ether manifestation!'

A concentrated sphere of blinding blue energy sparked and detonated outward, slamming into the mass with the force of a bomb blast and throwing it back through the splintered frame.

The blue light expanded rapidly, forming a domed, crackling barrier sealing the cabin.

Outside, monstrous shapes erupted from the woods, hurling themselves against the shield, rotting flesh hissing against the magic — some screaming in pain, others laughing manically as their faces melted against the barrier. "Hahaha! It burns!"

Dean shielded his eyes, lowering his gun an inch. "Okay, so you've got juice. Good to know. How long can you keep this up?"

"About an hour," Henry grunted, sweat beading on his forehead. "As long as nothing heavy hits it—"

The entire cabin lurched.

With an ear-splitting crack, the roof tore away into the night sky. Wind howled through the exposed rafters.

Looming over the ruined cabin, blotting out the moonlight, was a towering, gelatinous mountain of rotting meat and bone, dozens of twisted faces writhing across its surface — some weeping, some howling with laughter.

"We will swallow your souls! Hahaha!" The rest snapped their jaws open in a synchronized, deafening roar that shook the ground.

"Nosferatos... kunda... amanto!" Annie screamed, tears streaming down her face, refusing to break the spell.

The creature slammed its weight against the barrier.

Boom.

It flickered. Henry gritted his teeth, sweat pouring, muscles locked, boots sliding back half an inch on the floorboards.

Boom.

The shield buckled under the suffocating force. If it fell, everyone in the cabin died — no slow possession, nothing to fight back against. A monster that size wouldn't need to try twice.

"Fuck this..." Henry snarled.

Jagged arcs of white lightning began crackling in his eyes.

High above, storm clouds churned violently in response. The mountain of rotting meat blocked out the sky entirely, pressing down to crush them, but Henry pushed his power straight through it, raising his free hand to the heavens.

A blinding bolt of lightning tore down and blasted into the center of the creature's mass with an earth-shaking thunderclap.

A massive chunk of burnt, smoking meat blew off its body. Black blood and charred bone rained against the outside of the barrier.

"REEEEEAAAARRRGH!"

The monster reeled backward, shrieking in agony, dozens of faces wailing in unison as the smell of ozone and roasted flesh flooded the freezing air.

Annie flinched at the thunderclap but kept pushing through the final verses, voice growing frantic. "Yantar... kunda... grosh!"

She slammed her hands flat against the table. "Grosh!"

The Necronomicon snapped shut on its own. The sky above the torn-off roof ripped wide open — a massive, glowing whirlpool of blinding white light and pitch-black shadow spun into existence, twisting the storm clouds into a glowing funnel.

It didn't just open a doorway. It created a vacuum.

The suction was deafening. The creature shrieked as its weight lifted entirely off the ground, chunks of rotting meat and screaming faces ripping upward into the vortex.

But the pull didn't stop there.

Henry's barrier shattered, and the vacuum slammed into the ruined cabin — loose floorboards, broken glass, the severed hand from earlier, all flying upward into the rift.

Dean threw his arms around an exposed iron support rod, boots lifting off the floor.

"Is that the gate that's supposed to pull that thing?!" he yelled over the tornado-force wind. "Why the hell is it pulling us too?!"

Annie clung to the heavy oak table, knuckles white, feet sliding. "I don't know! But if we get sucked in, we'll be trapped in their world!"

Sam jammed his demon-killing knife into the floorboards, gripping the handle with both hands to anchor himself.

Ash hooked his arm through the fireplace grate, pinning his shotgun to his chest.

Henry dropped flat, pinning the unconscious James beneath him and driving his fingers into the wood for a grip.

"Then hold onto something tight!" he roared over the wind. "Unless you want a permanent vacation in a demon hellscape!"

Above them, the creature fought the pull, dozens of mismatched hands clawing at dirt and trees, but the whirlpool was too strong.

It unleashed one final, deafening wail — "NOOOOOO!" — before its massive body was sucked into the center of the portal, trailing black blood into the light.
