"Hahahaha…"
"Hahaha…"
"Conquer the multiverse!"
The three pitch-black Giants of Darkness laughed wildly under Jovian's temptation, as dark power spread through the world without restraint. (TN: While dark giants also works, Dark Giants is better)
"This planet's future is disappearing…"
"What exactly happened that made Tiga go wrong…"
The time machine slowly opened, and from within it emerged the beautiful white-haired woman once again. She gazed into the distance in confusion. The Ultra-Ancient civilization had planned everything perfectly. Tiga was supposed to awaken in this universe. He was supposed to protect the world with endless light. Yet the result she now saw was that Tiga had returned to darkness once more and personally released those three demons.
Maybe this civilization had already entered its final countdown to destruction…
"I can't just sit here and do nothing!"
"Daigo, can you hear me?!"
"Earth has fallen into endless darkness. It needs your help now!"
The beautiful white-haired woman, Yuzare, the captain of Earth's defense force from thirty million years ago, decided to make one final gamble.
"What did you say?!"
Hearing the voice, Daigo grew anxious as he tried to communicate with Yuzare.
"Daigo! Earth has fallen into darkness…"
"There is only one way to save it!"
"You have to become light…"
Once Yuzare realized Daigo was responding to her, she immediately began repeating her words into his mind.
"You need to…"
Yuzare sent her method into Daigo's mind in meticulous detail. She hoped he could follow her instructions, rise up, and become the new light.
The enemy was very powerful, of that Yuzare was more certain than anyone. But that was not what mattered. What mattered was the courage to face a powerful enemy. Only someone unafraid of danger, someone brave enough to confront all enemies, could defeat the darkness, overcome every foe, and save Earth and this universe from catastrophe!
"I understand!"
After receiving the method from Yuzare, Daigo did not hesitate for even a second. He immediately decided to try it. He had a feeling her method was real, and he believed with absolute certainty that he could use it to become true light.
"I'm definitely going to become a true Giant of Light!"
"I'll shoulder the responsibility of fighting evil monsters!"
"I'll do a better job than that dark warrior from the pyramid ever could!"
Daigo was overflowing with confidence. He swore he would outdo Jovian.
"You seem to have misunderstood something…"
Yuzare fell quiet after hearing Daigo's words. He seemed to have gotten the wrong idea. She did not want him to learn from Jovian. Her original goal had been for Daigo, after becoming a giant, to help her defeat Jovian, that black giant. But Daigo clearly had plenty of ideas of his own. He would not be guided entirely by her wishes, and he would not become her perfect warrior…
"I only hope no tragedy unfolds, and that everything I fear never comes to pass."
Yuzare shook her head. She had considered helping Daigo personally, but she was dead, and not just dead, but someone who had been dead for thirty million years. Her power was severely limited. She could not truly help Daigo in the way someone needing great power required. All she could do was pray for him silently, pray that Jovian would not tear him to pieces.
Meanwhile…
Not long after GUTS discovered the pyramid and Jovian personally killed Golza and Melba, another monster appeared!
This one came from deep inside a massive quarry vein on Kurara Island in the Southwestern Islands.
The islanders called it Gakuma, a giant monster that lived on stone, the guardian god of stone!
"Use GUTS Wing 2's energy weapon!"
Looking at the horned monster causing havoc, Horii shouted loudly.
"Got it!"
"Let's show this monster what we can do!"
The moment he heard Horii, Shinjoh boarded the aircraft. As GUTS' ace pilot, he would personally fly GUTS Wing 2 and deliver a solid blow to the monster.
Roar!
Roar!!
On the ground, Gakuma paid no attention to GUTS Wing 2 as it rose into the air. It continued roaring while attacking the quarry workers below, people whose excessive mining had made it impossible for the monsters to survive in peace.
Crackle…
And just as those workers drew Gakuma's attention, GUTS Wing 2 split open in the middle, revealing a massive cannon port. The next second, a beam of multicolored light fired out and slammed into Gakuma's body.
Boom!
With a thunderous explosion, Gakuma vanished completely!
"We won!"
The members of GUTS shouted excitedly as they watched Gakuma get blown to pieces.
This was the first monster they had ever defeated using human technology. It was humanity's own strength, and that fact filled all of them with excitement.
"Who says only giants can kill monsters?"
From inside the aircraft, Shinjoh clenched his fist as he looked at the monster he had just killed, his voice full of distrust toward Yuzare and the message from the time machine.
Boom!
After killing the monster came the victory lap. Shinjoh slowly brought the aircraft down, and the team stepped out proudly, heads high, walking toward the quarry workers.
"You defeated the monster!"
"Just what you'd expect from GUTS!"
The people praised them loudly. They were not standing on the side of justice. They were just looking at things from their own perspective and naturally assuming that anyone who defeated the monster had to be a hero, so they showered GUTS with praise.
"Gakuma was sad…"
"This is Gakuma's home. Those stones were Gakuma's food. The miners took the stones away, and without food, it attacked humans and turned them to stone so it could eat them."
Out of everyone in GUTS, only Daigo was thinking about whether they had done something wrong. Between Gakuma and humanity, who was right, and who was wrong?
Humans called themselves the rulers of this planet and claimed dominion over everything on it, as though all resources belonged to humanity alone. But while developing those resources, they had disturbed countless creatures and destroyed the homes of untold living things…
So were humans really in the right? Should he be protecting humans like that?
As the carrier of Ultra-Ancient genes, as a super warrior who had already surpassed ordinary humanity, Daigo kept thinking. He thought about who really owned this planet. Was it humanity, or the beings who had been here long before them?
"Stop talking nonsense, Daigo!"
"From the moment monsters started attacking humans, they became our enemies!"
Seeing Daigo's doubtful expression and the way he was beginning to question GUTS' mission and duty, Munakata rebuked him in a stern voice.
"Don't waste time thinking about what's right and what's wrong!"
"You just need to remember that you are a warrior who protects humanity, a soldier who defends mankind. That's enough!"
"We might end up betraying anything else in this world, but humanity is the one thing we must never betray!"
Munakata pressed a hand down on Daigo's shoulder as he spoke in a deep voice.
"I understand!"
Daigo nodded repeatedly, showing that he understood what Munakata was saying. He stopped wavering. He stopped feeling lost.
Roar!
Just as Daigo's resolve was beginning to settle, another giant monster clawed its way up from underground with a furious roar. It resembled the one they had already killed, but this one had two horns.
ROAR!!!
The twin-horned monster looked at the single-horned one that had already been blasted to pieces, and its roar was filled with grief and fury.
It was the cry of a creature that had seen its family killed, a howl of rage and helplessness at everything in the world!
"Damn it! There were two Gakumas…"
Only now, facing the larger monster with two horns, did they realize Gakuma had not been alone. These creatures lived as a family unit, one large and one small, male and female, a pair. But after they used their weapons to kill the smaller one-horned Gakuma, only one was left.
"Use GUTS Wing 2 and destroy the larger Gakuma before it causes any more damage!"
Munakata issued the order to the team.
"Maybe we can give it a chance!"
But Daigo's sympathy surged up again. He wanted Munakata and the others to spare Gakuma's life.
"You…"
"…Damn it."
Munakata looked at Daigo's stubborn refusal to let it go and let out a sigh.
"Daigo, remain here on standby. Everyone else, board the aircraft!"
In the end, Munakata ordered Daigo to stay behind while the others boarded the aircraft to eliminate the monster.
"Commander Munakata…"
Daigo frowned deeply. He could not accept that outcome.
"That's an order!"
Munakata coldly gave the command and led the rest of the team onto the aircraft.
"Damn it…"
"Is there really no other way?!"
Daigo clenched his fists as he watched GUTS Wing 2 rise into the air, utterly powerless in the face of what was happening.
"Fire!"
Right before his eyes, GUTS Wing 2 released its energy beam at the last remaining Gakuma…
And then…
Gakuma met it with its own beam, blocking the attack and knocking it right back, throwing GUTS Wing 2 into violent instability!
"This is bad, we're going down!"
Ace pilot Shinjoh shouted from the cockpit. When Shinjoh said they were crashing, that meant they were really crashing.
"Ahhh!"
The people inside the aircraft screamed.
At that critical moment, Daigo pulled out a transformation device.
"Hah!"
With a sharp shout, he was engulfed in light and transformed into a magnificent Giant of Light, catching the falling aircraft in one hand.
"That's…"
"A giant?!"
Inside the aircraft, the members of GUTS stared at the giant holding them up, their faces filled with disbelief. None of them had expected that at the most crucial moment, it would be a giant who saved their lives.
"He's different from that black giant earlier. This is a completely new giant!"
As the Earth human who currently knew the most about giants, Horii stared at the giant's colored chest and could not help blurting it out.
"So another giant has revived?"
"That's great…"
Shinjoh pumped his arm in excitement, overjoyed by the giant's appearance.
Boom!
The giant gently lowered the aircraft to the ground. After giving it a small nod, he turned to face the monster in the distance.
Roar!!
The monster did not act rashly in the face of the enormous giant before it. It only roared.
"Tch! Tch!!"
The giant tried to communicate with it, apparently hoping to resolve the situation through words.
ROAR!!!
But the monster's attitude was firm. It had no intention of listening.
"Tch! Tch, tch!"
The giant sounded helpless, but he still tried to persuade it. He wanted to become a guardian who could protect all of Earth's ecology. He wanted to be Earth's protector, not just humanity's protector.
ROAR!!
The monster roared furiously. Gakuma II had no intention of forgiving humans. In its eyes, the humans who killed Gakuma I were nothing but bastards, monsters who had stolen their territory, seized their food, and murdered their family. Against monsters like that, there was only war!
"Tch!"
The giant let out a helpless sound and raised his fighting stance. If he could avoid it, he truly did not want to settle things with violence.
"Tiga!"
Just as the giant and the monster were facing off, black lightning flashed across the sky. A pitch-black Giant of Darkness tore through the heavens and descended to the earth!
Boom!
The Giant of Darkness landed slowly, sending dirt flying everywhere.
"That's the giant from before!"
The members of GUTS recognized him at once. This was the same pitch-black Giant of Darkness from the pyramid, the one who had brutally butchered Golza and Melba, Jovian himself!
"Is he here to help this new giant?"
The members of GUTS wondered with heartbreaking innocence.
Then the very next second, what happened made their eyes nearly pop out of their heads.
"Get lost!"
In broad daylight, in full view of everyone, the Giant of Darkness strode up to the colorful Giant of Light and, right under the other giant's respectful gaze, slapped him hard across the face!
Boom!
With a thunderous crash, the colorful Giant of Light was sent flying by that single monstrous slap. He smashed through the entire stone factory and collapsed onto the ground.
?
The colorful Giant of Light stared at the Giant of Darkness in confusion and terror. God knew just how much damage one slap across the face could do to a rookie Giant of Light just starting his career.
Crackle…
But the Giant of Darkness ignored him completely. He spread his arms, and black lightning instantly gathered around him. Then a wave of dark energy burst from his hands, burning through the air as it slammed into the two-horned Gakuma.
Boom!
With a massive explosion, Gakuma blew apart instantly!
"Kid…"
After doing all that, the Giant of Darkness rolled his shoulders and looked down at the colorful Giant of Light, who was still sprawled on the ground, clutching the side of his face.
