(Sapphire's POV)
"Careful," Damian said with an unusual softness as he gently placed me on the car seat. "You are okay."
I tried to nod, but couldn't. I couldn't even make a sound for God's sake!
That nasty Stanley had choked me to an inch of my life.
Damian gave me a bottle of water and waited while I sipped it. "Slowly now, don't rush it." He whispered and praised me when I did as he asked. "Good girl."
If I had the strength, I would have rolled my eyes.
"Now, let's get you home."
As we drove back to the house, my mind was on so many things at once that I didn't even
Know when I slept off.
"Sapphire." Damian's voice sounded so far away. "Blue eyes, wake up." He called again.
I stirred and opened my eyes.
"Are we home yet?" I asked, my voice sounding like a dying whale.
Damian obviously heard it too because he grinned, "yes. Now let's get you inside."
He came down and quickly walked to my side of the car and opened the door.
