Chapter 45 - 045 Message From Maya

This mission had granted him a substantial windfall of points—enough to finally elevate his Lightning Magic to Rank-B.

Why did Tatsuya choose to prioritize Lightning Magic? The answer was simple: it was the only high-output magic that allowed for effortless manipulation. At its weakest, a stray spark could stun a foe; at its peak, a single discharge could level an entire city. Such was the devastating potential of Rank-B Lightning Magic.

Ding!

Tatsuya glanced at his phone screen, a satisfied smirk playing on his lips. "As expected of Mother," he murmured. "Efficient and swift, as always."

The message was from Yotsuba Maya. In it, she praised Tatsuya for the brilliant strategy he had employed to suppress the Blanche attack.

Ding!

A second notification arrived. This time, Tatsuya's eyebrow twitched.

"It looks like I'll have to make time to head home," he sighed.

The second message was a simple inquiry into his well-being, but between the lines, the subtext was clear: she wanted him to visit. Just the thought of his mother's displeasure sent a genuine shiver down Tatsuya's spine.

Maya was the type to maintain a radiant smile even when she was furious, yet the aura she radiated in those moments was so suffocatingly dark that it struck terror into the hearts of everyone around her. It only happened when her rage reached its peak—and from what Tatsuya could remember, that had only happened once: when the National Defense Force attempted to forcibly recruit him.

Maya had rejected the military's proposal with cold finality. A conflict had broken out, but in the end, Maya emerged the undisputed victor. The National Defense Force had been left utterly powerless once she unleashed her Strategic-Class magic. Since that day, they hadn't dared to mention recruiting Tatsuya again—at least, not in her presence.

Truthfully, Tatsuya himself was somewhat interested in joining the military, but he didn't dare defy Maya. It wasn't so much a lack of courage as it was a lack of will; Maya doted on him profoundly, and he had no desire to turn against that affection.

Ding!

As the third message chimed, Tatsuya's fingers flew across the screen with lightning speed.

[I will return home once the Nine Schools Competition is over.]

[Ufufu~ Mother will be looking forward to it.]

Only after receiving that response did Tatsuya finally let out a long breath of relief.

"Finally... I can actually rest."

Exhausted from the mental gymnastics of dealing with Maya, Tatsuya collapsed onto his bed. He fell into such a deep sleep that he didn't even notice Miyuki slipping into the room and curling up beside him.

The next morning, Tatsuya's hand reflexively searched for something soft—an object that fit perfectly within the curve of his palm.

At first, it was just a gentle touch, but he soon found himself squeezing the yielding mass, finding the sensation oddly addictive in his half-asleep state.

"Ahn..."

"Hmm?"

Sensing something was amiss, Tatsuya's eyes snapped open. He froze. Miyuki was right in front of him.

He realized he was currently embracing her, his hands firmly kneaded against her breasts, altering their shape under his grip.

"Good morning, Onii-sama," Miyuki whispered, her cheeks flushed a deep crimson.

"Morning..." Stunned, Tatsuya accidentally gave her another squeeze.

"Hngh..." Miyuki let out a soft moan, yet she made no move to pull away. "You may continue, Onii-sama. There is no need to hold back..."

Her voice was velvety and sweet, carrying a strange, almost magical allure that threatened to melt his resolve. Tatsuya felt a surge of heat rise within him; a predatory instinct began to stir in his heart. But before he could act on it, the moment was shattered by a deafening blare.

Riiing!!!

"!"

Both of them jumped. Tatsuya reflexively jerked his hands away. He cleared his throat, his expression uncharacteristically awkward.

"I'd like to take you up on that offer, but it seems the timing is against us."

Miyuki pouted, saying nothing, but her eyes made it very clear that her mood had plummeted. Seeing this, Tatsuya reached out and gently stroked her head. He leaned in close, whispering into her ear with a tone full of affection.

"Let's save the best for later. Don't you agree?"

Miyuki blinked, her face turning even redder as she nodded shyly, a small smile returning to her lips.

"Now, go take a shower," Tatsuya said softly. "We'll head to school as soon as you're ready."

"Yes, Onii-sama!" she chirped, practically glowing as she bounded out of the room.

Tatsuya watched her go with a faint smile before opening his "Chat Group" interface. Luck was on his side today; he gained two thousand points just for the daily login. While two thousand was a modest amount, it was certainly better than nothing.

Noticing the chat was quiet, he logged out and began his own preparations for the day.

There was an important joint meeting today between the Student Council, the Disciplinary Committee, the Club Management Group, and the school administration. Although Tatsuya wasn't officially a member of those organizations, his attendance was mandatory—after all, he was the architect behind the defense plan that had thwarted Blanche the day before.

Besides, there was no escaping it. Mayumi had been quite insistent that he show up.
