MIREYA POV
I could hear my pulse roaring in my ears.
"No…" I whispered again, shaking my head harder. "Jax, you don't understand—"
"Then make me understand." His voice was calm. Waiting
That scared me more.
"I can't go there," I said, my voice breaking. "I just… I can't."
His grip tightened slightly around my wrist. Not enough to hurt… but enough to stop me from pulling away again.
"Why?" he asked. His eyes searched mine waiting for an answer
My throat closed up.
Because I couldn't answer that.
Not without destroying everything.
"I just—" I swallowed hard. "I don't feel right. Something is wrong with me."
His eyes flickered slightly at that.
"I know," he said quietly."I can see that honey."
That made my chest tighten.
Because there was no anger in his voice now.
Just a concern.
"And that's exactly why we're going," he added.
Panic rushed through me again.
"No!" I pulled back harder this time. "Jax, please—"
