Chapter 138 - A Reasonable Giant Dragonite

The energy absorption in the Dragon Pool lasted about ten minutes.

Lin Yu's presence didn't slow down Charizard's absorption at all — the Dragon Crystal beneath simply channeled more energy upward.

Now Lin Yu understood: the pool distributed energy based on how many beings were inside.

That meant he didn't have to worry about Latias draining too much power from Xiaoye.

Still, that girl was something else.

Did she really need to drag Latias away?

That jealous?

He chuckled inwardly,

then focused on the Dragon Master Power growing inside him.

It was steadily becoming denser.

Meanwhile, Charizard's Dragon-type energy was also rising gently.

The changes stopped once Charizard hit Level 45.

The Dragon Crystal cut off the energy flow, and Lin Yu stood up, feeling refreshed.

The experience was like a full-body massage — incredibly effective.

And now he had Dragon Master Power. Once he got back, he could test it out with Latias…

Or maybe Charizard?

Or even the unhatched Gible, still in its egg.

Even though it hadn't been born yet, just imagine it: boosted by Aura, Viridian Power, and Dragon Master Power right from birth.

Come to think of it, the later Pokémon he caught got better treatment.

"Alright, Charizard, the energy's all gone."

Lin Yu walked over and patted its head while it still lingered in the pool.

"Roar~ (It hurt at first, but felt really good later~)"

Lin Yu's forehead twitched.

Why did that sound so weird coming from a Pokémon?

But Charizard looked completely innocent, so he figured he was just overthinking.

Charizard turned to him, fired up.

"Roar roar! (I wanna go to the training chamber and duel Greninja! I'm gonna crush it this time!)"

"Sure."

Lin Yu smiled helplessly.

Charizard and Greninja had always been fierce rivals.

But because of speed and type disadvantages, Charizard usually struggled in one-on-ones, only gaining a slight edge with its Pale Fire.

After the Dragon Pool's baptism, its Dragon-type moves were vastly stronger — of course it wanted to test them on its old rival.

Lin Yu called out Greninja and explained Charizard's challenge.

Greninja accepted eagerly.

He sent both of them into the training chamber, then summoned Gardevoir to tag along and keep the fight from getting too out of hand.

But when he got dressed and stepped outside…

Lin Yu froze.

A pair of slightly murky, yet overwhelmingly intimidating giant eyes were locked onto him.

The mountain-sized body —

it was the colossal Dragonite!

One by one, the Dragonair and Dratini emerged from the mountain.

When they saw the giant Dragonite staring at Lin Yu, they all turned to look too.

Ye Tian and Ye Huo had also just come out.

Their eyes widened at the scene.

This Dragonite was ancient beyond measure.

They'd seen it full of vigor on their first visits.

But now, up close, they could see its age clearly.

In the past, Ye clan members simply left after absorbing the pool's energy.

Rarely did they ever see it again.

Ye Tian had asked the clan elders about it before.

They'd only said: "Don't worry. This Dragonite once belonged to an ancestor. It won't harm you."

Now it had come out on its own?

The two exchanged confused glances, unsure what to do.

Lin Yu felt immense pressure bearing down on him.

Even with his newly gained Dragon Master Power and the energy he'd absorbed,

he hadn't expected this kind of reception.

Thankfully,

through his Aura,

he sensed no hostility from the Dragonite.

It seemed to be searching for something.

[Pokémon: Dragonite]

Ability: Multiscale (Maximized)

Gender: Male

Potential: Level 3 Legendary

Level: 99

Note: Maximizing its size kept it from crossing into godhood, instead burning most of its life force. Once long-lived, it now nears the end of its days.

"Hmm?"

Just then, Ye Qingxue stepped out from behind, with Latias back in her normal form beside her.

Latias immediately darted in front of Lin Yu, tensing up at the sight of the giant Dragonite.

She could feel power even greater than her full-strength self radiating from it.

Xiaoye hurried over.

Lin Yu held out a hand to stop her before she reached him.

"Bro?"

She stared anxiously at the Dragonite above.

"It's fine."

Lin Yu reassured her.

He thought he knew what the Dragonite was after.

And it wasn't his Dragon Master Power.

He sighed quietly — he'd just bought this thing.

Pretending to pull it from his bag, he held up the jade bottle from the pool and called upward:

"Dragonite — you want this, don't you?"

The emerald Life Essence lay sealed inside, giving off no aura at all.

It must have been when he examined it earlier that he'd caught the Dragonite's attention.

"Mm…"

A deep, ancient voice rumbled like it came from the heavens.

Even a simple hum resonated like a bronze bell.

"Human… you are not of the Ye clan…"

Well.

No point denying it.

It saw right through him.

The Dragonite lowered its body, coiling its legs and settling onto the ground.

Even that simple movement from its massive frame shook the earth.

"Rest easy… I hold no grudge. Within this treasure, I sense immense life energy… I need it."

Phew.

Lin Yu relaxed.

So this Dragonite was reasonable.

That made things easier.

But giving away the Life Essence for nothing?

He couldn't do that.

This was an SSS-class treasure!

Its value in the human world was immeasurable.

And it was useful to him too.

"Human, I know how precious this is. I only need… half. In return… among the newly hatched Dratini, you may choose one and form a bond freely."

The Dragonite seemed to sense his hesitation and spoke in a low, rumbling tone.

Ever since it had chosen the wrong path,

its life energy faded with each passing day. It relied on long sleep just to slow the decay.

This treasure gave it hope.

"Deal."

After a short pause, Lin Yu agreed.
