The Dragon-Ruling Ye Clan
Naturally, the pride of the Dragon-Ruling Ye Clan lay in their Dragon-type Pokémon.
Though Dragonair and other Dragons hadn't entered the fray yet,
the Fairy-type Gardevoir would be a devastating counter to them all.
Level 43 Slowking.
For the Ye clan to have caught one for Xiaoye was simply overkill.
"Extreme Speed!"
"Lucario!"
Against a slow opponent like this, Lucario was a master of Extreme Speed.
But when Lin Yu saw the mischievous grin on Xiaoye's face, a bad feeling washed over him.
It only grew stronger when he recognized the move she was about to use.
"Slowking, Trick Room!"
Trick Room twisted the battlefield into a bizarre dimension where slower Pokémon moved first.
A huge spatial barrier flared open.
Lucario, once blisteringly fast, suddenly slowed to a crawl, barely able to move.
"Heehee. Slowking, Psychic!"
Lucario's Extreme Speed had turned it into a helpless toy inside the Trick Room, tossed around at will.
By the time the space faded, Lucario was gasping for breath.
Thin streams of Aura and Viridian Power swirled rapidly to heal it.
"Can you still activate it?"
Lin Yu meant World King Fist.
Without it, Lucario could barely hurt Slowking,
let alone break free from its Psychic.
"Lucario!"
Lucario nodded firmly.
The familiar red aura blazed around it again.
"I'm counting on you, Lucario. Use Final Gambit!"
It was a last-ditch, all-or-nothing move.
"Reflect!"
Xiaoye knew the strike couldn't be avoided and ordered a defensive wall.
BOOM!
After the violent collision,
Lucario's arm went limp.
It fainted.
Slowking, though injured, was still standing.
"Recover!"
Slowking used a healing move at once.
But that meant Xiaoye had given up her chance to switch Pokémon.
"Lucario is unable to battle! Lin Yu, send out your next Pokémon!"
"That girl's tactics and Pokémon are both top-tier," Lin Yu muttered.
He felt like he was fighting a boss battle.
"Go, Charizard!"
The towering flame Pokémon soared into the sky, and the entire arena erupted in cheers.
Charizard's dominant performance in the last match had left everyone stunned.
"Light Screen!"
Xiaoye hadn't switched Slowking because she'd guessed Charizard would be next.
She planned to use Light Screen and Slowking's Water typing to wear Charizard down.
Unfortunately, the rain stopped right then.
The sky cleared into bright sunlight.
"Charizard, Fire Blast!"
The raging fiery explosion slammed into the Light Screen, sending ripples across its surface.
"No counter? Charizard, Dragon Claw!"
"Iron Defense!"
Charizard dove downward toward Slowking.
After a few exchanges, Lin Yu saw right through her plan.
"Trying to drain my stamina? Too bad you're facing Charizard."
Charizard hated prolonged battles least of all.
About ten minutes later:
"Slowking is unable to battle! Ye Qingxue, switch your Pokémon!"
"Brother's Charizard really has endless stamina," Xiaoye sighed.
"Go, Inteleon!"
"Rain Dance!"
The familiar rain fell again, but this time it had no effect on Charizard.
And at Level 46, Inteleon was three levels higher than Charizard!
"Water Gun!"
The same trick as before.
But Inteleon's speed was unreal.
Only Greninja and Lucario could have kept up — and both had already fainted.
Charizard fought with wide, powerful strikes and hated fast, slippery foes the most.
But it had area attacks too.
"Charizard, Fire Shower!"
In this enclosed battlefield, Fire Shower was perfect.
"ROAR!"
Dodging Water Gun, Charizard spat upward in a roar. Fire rained down, brilliant fiery flowers blooming amid the raindrops — not a single flame extinguished.
"Hmm… Inteleon, Camouflage!"
Inteleon vanished from its plank as if it had never existed.
Stealth.
Lin Yu blinked. Latias had the same ability.
But against a wielder of Aura, invisibility was useless.
Just as Lin Yu prepared to track Inteleon with Aura,
it reappeared out of nowhere.
She was luring him!
"Water Pledge!"
The calm lake erupted violently. Pillars of water shot skyward from all directions.
Charizard panicked.
It was completely surrounded, with nowhere to retreat.
"Charizard, Flamethrower!"
Lin Yu had no choice.
CRASH!
Fire and water collided, sending thick steam billowing.
The hasty flames were no match for the rising water pillars and were drowned out.
"ROAR!"
Charizard burst from the water with a roar, huffing flames in frustration.
It locked onto a spot below and unleashed a torrent of fire.
"Aura really is too convenient."
Xiaoye's pretty brows furrowed as she watched her Inteleon's stealth fail completely.
Against most Pokémon, her Inteleon could toy with even Master-tier opponents on the Water Field.
But now stealth was useless, tear-gas rain didn't work, and its prized speed was neutralized.
It would have to fight head-on.
"Hydro Pump!"
"Nice one. Charizard, Fire Blast!"
Both Pokémon tensed to unleash their ultimate moves.
But when Lin Yu saw the sly grin on Xiaoye's face, he knew she was up to something.
He decided to play along.
"Gotcha! Inteleon, U-turn!"
"Nice try. Catch it and use Sky Drop!"
She was trying to switch again!
There was no way he was letting that slippery Inteleon escape.
Inteleon lunged forward, only to be suddenly wrapped in Charizard's powerful claws.
Charizard squeezed tight and shot straight into the sky.
Inteleon's slim body stood no chance against Charizard's strength.
Charizard spun it seven or eight times midair before slamming it down onto the lake.
Inteleon's cold eyes went dim.
Inteleon was unable to battle!
Xiaoye pouted as she looked at the smug Lin Yu.
"Inteleon is unable to battle! Ye Qingxue now has three fainted Pokémon. The battlefield is being reselected…
