The Lost Vampire System Chapter 25 - The Stalker
Jareth was walking down the street, admiring everything that the game was displaying: all the lights, different technologies, and the clothes that people were wearing. A couple of minutes later, he arrived at the bottom of the billboard, which was a small building with a huge door that looked like a blue portal. Jareth approached the blue portal and stopped in front of it. There were a couple of signs, and at the top, in big letters, it said, "This is a safe zone. While in this part of the game, if you die, your stuff will stay with you."
"Well, that's good," the Half-ling said as he entered the portal.
As soon as he entered, he appeared in a white room with a screen in front of him.
"Welcome to Evolved Dominion," the soothing female robotic voice said as another message popped up.
"Since NYXIS notices that you have no money, you may only play the basic game with level 1 to level 2 Evolved. The game does not consider whether you have more than one Evolved power or not."
A screen popped up showing the game called "Basic" with all the other games, but they were darker with various prices to join the farther down you went. Jareth tapped on the game and hit the confirm button. The white room dissolved as he looked at a loading screen that showed two people fighting.
"Hint," the message that popped on the screen started to say. "Remember that while in battle, your stamina and Evo cells are not infinite."
"Good for training," Apollo said.
Another message popped up. "Hint: Pain while in Evolved Dominion will be felt at 20% compared to the rest of NYXIS, which is at 40%."
"I was wondering how much it would hurt," Jareth muttered.
Right after Jareth said that, the loading screen vanished, and Jareth found himself standing in sand in the middle of a huge coliseum-like arena. The huge stadium around him was completely empty with nobody in it. The sky was clear with the sun shining high overhead. Across from Jareth on the arena floor stood another individual who looked like he was wearing a witch costume.
"Nice gang outfit!" Jareth's opponent shouted as a 10-second timer appeared in the sky.
"Don't forget, Jareth," Apollo warned Jareth. "Do not use your Vampire skill or skills in the future."
"Nice… witch outfit!" Jareth shouted back while also acknowledging what Apollo said just before the timer hit zero.
A buzzer sound went off, and dark energy surrounded the opponent, but not in a wide shape. Jareth looked to his right, and he could see a billboard that showed that both of them had one Evolved power with a level one. He turned to look at his opponent and immediately leapt to the side as a ball of purple energy went past his head. He rolled onto his feet and charged forward, thrusting the palm of his hand forward.
"Skill activated," the Draven system said. "Sun Pulse. Minus 10 solar points."
A ball of light shot out of Jareth's hand, speeding towards his opponent. The opponent leapt out of the way, but he was too slow as the attack still hit him.
"Ow!" he yelled as a burned mark appeared on his clothes.
Was that a fire or some sort of Light Evolved power? The witch thought this as he got up, swirling his level 1 physical dark desires in his hands. He leapt up off the ground and fired a couple of dark balls at Jareth's direction.
Jareth activated his sun control skill, which formed a shield of light in front of him, absorbing the attacks but shattering after the last one hit.
"In-Game Solar Points: 74 of 100," the system stated.
While the two were fighting, an eye icon appeared on Jareth's side as a single individual appeared high up in the stands to watch the fight. This individual was wearing a black set of futuristic armor with glowing green lines around the joints. The individual was also wearing a same-style mask. The individual slouched in their seat as they looked at the battle.
"Someone is blocking me," the voice of a girl said. "I made this game, and now I actually have to come in here on my account instead of watching from my setup."
She sighed as she continued to fixate her attention on CrimsonDawn.
Is his Evolved power like Emma's, except instead of love, it's desires? Jareth pondered as he just decided to get this fight over with as he charged in.
The opponent started to panic as he realized that he ran out of Evo cells. He pulled out a knife from his clothes.
Jareth smiled as he unleashed another Sun Pulse at close range. The witch opponent tried to block it with his knife, but it went right through it, hitting his opponent, whose body went poof after the attack.
"Winner, CrimsonDawn!" the voice of NYXIS said.
"You have defeated an opponent," Jareth's System said. "Plus 10 experience points. Exp: 45 of 80."
Whoa! Jareth thought as his fingers started to twitch in excitement. I get exp for killing an opponent on here. I can do this a couple more times, and I can level up to level 4 and maybe evolve.
Right after that, Jareth found himself in the white room with the "Play Again" button in front of his face. There was a message within the large button that said "2 of 3 Free Uses for today. Resets every 24 hours." There was another message next to it that said "Five gold coins for 1 round."
"Dang it," Jareth complained out loud. "Of course it costs money. I clearly need to find one of the active events with an artifact in it and just loot at the back like what Madison said she did."
He decided that he needed guaranteed experience points, so he hit the Play Again button, and his vision went white.
"Good," the female voice said, wearing the armor. "He's playing again."
