Anton Buchanan's private plane was exceptionally chaotic today.
Across the land, hurricane-force storms raged incessantly. Accompanied by energy turbulence from the distance, every living creature in this plane knew these were the aftershocks of a battle.
Helios, a fifth-tier wizard, had pushed his energy body to its absolute limit, transforming completely into a humanoid blazing sun.
He hovered in mid-air, each wave of his hand unleashing a colossal elemental tide.
Meteor-like exploding fireballs, chain lightning that tore the earth asunder, and soul-freezing cryogenic rays... A barrage of powerful area-of-effect spells rained down without restraint, turning the once-verdant grassland into a hellscape of lava, frost, and scorched earth.
His attacks weren't aimed solely at the Black Giant; they were primarily intended to sow chaos and suppress any potential movement paths Jieming might take.
Meanwhile, the other combatant—a biological modification wizard named Morpheus—had completely shed his human form, transforming into a truly grotesque shape.
His lower body had become a mass of thick tentacles covered in suckers and barbs, propelling his massive frame forward at high speed. From his upper body extended several pairs of metallic-sheened, bony scythe-arms, while his mouthparts continuously opened and closed, spewing acid and neurotoxic gas.
His defensive and regenerative abilities were utterly terrifying. Wounds hard-won on his body would often heal at a visible rate.
Only those areas continuously covered by the time force field saw their recovery slow down significantly.
Jieming stood at the edge of the battlefield, fine beads of sweat forming on his forehead. The Great Light Phase levitated behind him, its ring of over ten thousand rune-imbued magical artifacts spinning at an unprecedented speed. The resulting barrage of projectiles, like a golden rain, did its utmost to intercept and weaken Helios's wide-area bombardment, providing cover fire for the Black Giant Priests charging ahead.
The six Black Giant Priests, like six streaks of black lightning, attacked the two fifth-tier wizards with frantic intensity, their movements amplified by the dual effects of time acceleration and the enemy's deceleration. The black liquid metal on their bodies continuously devoured energy attacks, and their temporal chaos ability made their motions so swift they left afterimages. Their heavy fists, imbued with a monstrous strength that seemed to tear space itself, repeatedly smashed against the enemies' shields and bodies.
Two of the Black Giant Priests had already sustained severe injuries, their arms severed at the shoulder, with black energy flowing from the stumps like blood. This was the price they had paid to shield Jieming from one of Morpheus's cunningly executed surprise attacks.
The space across the entire combat area seemed filled with invisible cement, heavy and viscous.
This was the [Spatial Anchoring Force Field], deployed at all costs by Helios and Morpheus after they discovered Jieming's incredibly troublesome spatial abilities.
By locking down the space, they completely eliminated Jieming's ability to use Phase Shift or Spatial Slash for surprise attacks and evasion.
Jieming could only rely on the overclocked reaction brought by his Acceleration Rune Artifact and the Black Giant Priests' time manipulation to barely dodge and weave through the gaps in the fifth-tier wizards' attacks.
"I have to take one of them down first!" Jieming thought urgently.
The energy reserve of the Great Light Phase was being rapidly depleted. Although the Black Giant Priests were fierce and brave, their injuries and energy consumption continued to mount under the combined counterattacks of the two fifth-tier wizards.
He himself was like a dancer on the edge of a blade. Helios's occasionally condensed Solar Rays and Morpheus's sudden, paralyzing poison-tipped tentacles thrusting from the ground forced him to dodge with all his might.
Even the mere aftershocks of their attacks required him to instantaneously stack over a dozen layers of energy shields to withstand the impact.
If not for the powerful physical body and various adaptive resistances granted by the Body Tempering Method, he would have been severely injured by the battle's aftershocks long ago.
Meanwhile, the two fifth-tier wizards were also in dire straits.
They had already been severely injured by their own battle, and it was only by sheer luck that Jieming's spatial slash sneak attack had failed.
But the relentless barrage of attacks was causing their wounds to worsen, forcing them to retreat time and again.
Both knew all too well: once the space blockade ended, their defeat would be sealed.
Therefore, they had to end the battle before the blockade lifted!
Suddenly, due to the intensity of the combat, Jieming's Great Light Phase overheated from high-frequency discharge, causing a momentary lag.
"Now's the chance!" Helios roared in a mental surge.
His blazing sun incarnation violently contracted, then erupted in a thunderous explosion!
A ring-shaped pulse of pure destructive energy rippled outward, instantly blasting back the Black Giant Priests who were besieging him.
Even with their innate talent for absorbing energy, the sudden, overwhelming impact caused the black liquid metal on their bodies to boil violently, clearly inflicting significant damage.
Almost simultaneously, Morpheus seized this fleeting opportunity with perfect timing.
His massive form, covered in tentacles and bone blades, burst through the now-thinned barrage of attacks with agility that defied his size.
Several of the thickest tentacles, like siege rams, tore through the air with a piercing shriek, lunging straight for Jieming—whose mental power was now hyper-focused on controlling the Great Light Phase and the Black Giants!
The tips of the tentacles shimmered with a ghostly light designed to shatter energy defenses. This was clearly his trump card!
"I was waiting for you to act out of desperation!" A fierce glint flashed in Jieming's eyes, but he showed no panic.
At the critical moment, a colossal figure, over fifty meters tall and resembling a black mountain, materialized before him. It was one of the two Level 5 Black Giant Commanders!
The Black Giant Commander appeared at the perfect spot, intercepting Morpheus's lethal attack right in front of Jieming!
"ROAR!!!"
The Black Giant Commander, already prepared, let out a world-shaking roar.
It neither dodged nor parried, allowing the mountain-shattering tentacles to slam brutally into its obsidian chest!
Its formidable body, capable of withstanding Sixth-Tier attacks, was instantly riddled with holes. High-temperature "blood" sprayed everywhere, yet its massive frame stood immovable, a loyal bastion.
And at the exact moment the tentacles struck—when the old force had spent and the new had yet to build—Jieming issued a cold, ruthless command through the soul contract:
Self-destruct!
Inside the Black Giant Commander's massive body, it was as if a black sun had been ignited.
Destructive energy surged to its limit within a hundredth of a second, and then—
BOOM!!!
A terrifying energy storm, comparable to Helios's previous explosion, erupted violently with the Black Giant Commander at its center!
The black, destructive energy, mixed with the commander's torn flesh, formed a devastating shockwave ring that instantly swallowed Morpheus, who was standing right beside him.
The shockwave then rapidly expanded, sweeping in Helios, who was still catching his breath after unleashing his ultimate skill.
The space, which had been frozen solid as an iron plate by the [Spatial Anchoring Force Field], groaned under the impact of this cross-grade destructive energy, becoming twisted and unstable.
The moment Jieming issued the command, he had already bolted like a startled rabbit, darting behind a Black Giant Priest who had just been blasted into the air right next to him.
The loyal Priest immediately turned, shielding Jieming completely with his body.
The black liquid metal on the priest's body flowed, forming a defensive posture that withstood the core shockwave of the self-destruction head-on.
Even so, the terrifying force still sent them flying, smashing into a distant hill.
The aftershocks of the explosion had not yet fully subsided, and towering dust and energy turbulence were still raging.
"Cough, cough..."
Jieming crawled out from under the Black Giant Priest, his face covered in dust. He coughed out several mouthfuls of dusty saliva, but his eyes remained as sharp as an eagle's.
He didn't even bother to check the results of the attack. Through the soul contract, he could clearly sense the positions of the other Black Giant Priests who had been blasted away.
Without hesitation, he immediately issued the final command to all remaining Black Giant Priests, including the one who had protected him:
Charge! Close in on the survivors! Self-destruct!
The next moment, several black figures, like moths drawn to a flame, threw themselves resolutely into the still-swirling, destructive energy dust.
Guided by the energy fluctuations emitted by the two fifth-tier wizards, they charged toward the possible locations of their targets.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Four more massive, devastating explosions rocked the dust-choked air.
After issuing his orders, Jieming didn't even glance at the blast site. Instead, he threw himself to the ground.
His hands flared with the light of alchemy. Like a mole digging a burrow, he clawed frantically into the earth, instantly carving out a tunnel thousands of meters deep. He dove inside, seeking refuge from the secondary shocks and energy backwash that could follow the chain of self-destructions.
Moments later, the chaos finally subsided.
Jieming cautiously poked his head out from the scorched, smoldering ground.
The scene before him was apocalyptic. A colossal crater, several kilometers in diameter, had replaced the original landscape. Its rim was a ring of vitrified soil and twisted spatial scars.
Following his soul sense, he quickly located the energy crystal cores of the Black Giant Priests and Commanders that had survived the blasts and retrieved them.
Then, he saw the two figures in the center of the crater, barely holding their forms.
Morpheus's once-vaunted biologically modified body was now a tattered wreck, most of its tentacles blown off and its bone blades shattered.
A massive hole gaped in his core, writhing sluggishly as it tried to mend, but the progress was excruciatingly slow, and his aura had dwindled to a mere flicker.
Helios's energy incarnation had also grown dim, flickering like a candle in the wind.
The chain of self-destructions had clearly inflicted severe damage, leaving him struggling even to maintain a stable energy form.
Seeing these two fifth-tier wizards—who had only been "merely" wounded after such a terrifying onslaught—Jieming couldn't help but grit his teeth, a phantom ache throbbing in his jaw.
So damn... durable! he cursed inwardly.
As their tier increased, a wizard's vitality truly became more and more "inhuman."
At the bottom of the pit, Morpheus and Helios also spotted Jieming peeking over the edge. They exchanged a glance, seeing only helplessness and bitterness in each other's eyes.
Struggling to their feet, they spoke almost in unison, their voices weak yet clear: "We... concede."
The moment the words left their lips, their figures vanished from the pit as if they had never been there.
Jieming's pupils constricted at the sight.
"So this is the true power of an eighth-tier wizard..." he murmured softly.
The spatial anchoring force field was still active all around them, yet Wizard Noren had managed to teleport away so effortlessly, without leaving a trace.
Jieming couldn't fathom how he'd done it, but one thing was certain: ordinary space blockades were utterly useless against an eighth-tier wizard.
He quickly put the matter aside, brushing the dust and scorched ash from his wizard's robe. He gazed up at the cloudless sky, cleared of all clouds by the shockwave, and sighed helplessly.
Though he had won, the cost was staggering. The Black Giant Legion within his internal space had been nearly decimated.
He took a deep breath of the acrid air, his gaze sweeping across the desolate wasteland, the twisted hills, and the still-swirling energy turbulence.
Suddenly, Jieming spoke, his voice ringing out over the silent ruins.
"Come out. You've watched the show long enough. It's time you showed yourselves."
