Chapter 259 - Space Distortion Region

Translator: AnubisTL

When Jieming arrived at the agreed meeting point on time, he found Senior Jack standing there with eleven other wizards. Their expressions varied, but their qi levels were generally weak.

"Senior Jack," Jieming greeted him.

Jack's face lit up with a smile. "You're here! Perfect timing."

After exchanging greetings, Jack shook his head with a hint of regret. "Sigh, after searching for so long, this is all I could find."

Jieming nodded understandingly as he glanced at the eleven wizards behind Jack.

It was clear that forming a party to collaborate on missions was particularly difficult at this stage.

After all, the entire Void Domain Plane was seen by most wizards as a vast, untapped treasure trove.

Why waste time venturing into the unknown depths of the "distorted space" to complete a rescue mission with fixed rewards and considerable risks?

It would be far more profitable to follow the example of other wizards and fly to more distant regions in search of abundant, easily obtainable resources.

Apart from Jieming, who had his own ulterior motives, Jack couldn't find any other wizards of significant rank.

Based on the qi Jieming sensed, most of these wizards were first-tier.

Moreover, judging by the unstable qi emanating from their bodies, they had likely advanced to this tier recently and were still relatively weak newcomers.

Due to their limited power, these wizards had likely chosen this seemingly low-risk mission to earn rewards more safely.

This explained why Jack had been so visibly delighted when Jieming, a second-tier wizard of considerable strength, had agreed to help.

After all, in terms of the number of soul contracts they could deeply control, a single second-tier wizard was equivalent to ten first-tier wizards.

Jack and Jieming's conversation drew the attention of the others, but none of the wizards present seemed inclined to introduce themselves.

Even Jack shared this sentiment. After greeting Jieming and confirming that everyone had arrived, he decisively stood up, led the party out of the camp, and flew toward the pre-marked direction in the distance.

Jieming and the other eleven newly recruited wizards silently followed behind Jack as they left the camp.

The group flew at high speed through the featureless white world for six days before finally reaching an area that appeared identical to its surroundings.

As they approached, Jack, the team leader, cautiously stopped.

He turned to address the group, warning, "The 'Space Distortion' area lies ahead. Stay close behind me and do not stray from the formation."

Jieming's expression turned serious.

He carefully scanned the vast expanse of empty space before them, but found nothing amiss.

To put it bluntly, the area appeared completely normal. Even the drifting white mist seemed no different from anywhere else.

There were no signs of anomalous energy, and neither his senses nor the detection spells he had cast in advance yielded any useful feedback.

It wasn't until Jieming cautiously activated his "Universal Eye" again, narrowing his observation range to a narrow, fan-shaped area just a few meters in front of him, that he finally glimpsed something: faint, almost imperceptible ripplesโ€”traces of distorted space flowing like water.

"The danger of this space distortion... far exceeds my expectations..." Jieming couldn't help but sigh inwardly.

Without specialized reconnaissance methods, ordinary wizards could stumble into this place and die without ever understanding how they met their end!

At that moment, Jack pulled out a spell artifact from his robeโ€”a metallic bird-like device.

He channeled a surge of mental power into it and gently released it into the air.

As if imbued with life, the bird-shaped artifact transformed into a streak of light and vanished into the dense fog ahead.

After a brief, puzzled wait, Levin Mills suddenly materialized several hundred meters ahead of the group.

His appearance was utterly seamless, as if he had been standing there all along.

Jack visibly relaxed at the sight. He turned to the newly recruited wizards beside him and gave them careful instructions:

"Remember the exact area where that wizard appeared. It's currently the only stable point we've found that allows safe entry into the interior of this space distortion point."

"Moreover, to enter, we must strictly adhere to a specific flight trajectory, and we must retreat along the same path."

Jack led the group forward.

He approached Levin Mills' position slowly, following a peculiar "S"-shaped flight trajectory.

As Jieming followed, he noticed small, faintly glowing orbs hidden within the dense fog. These appeared to serve as markers, similar to signal beacons, providing reference points in this featureless region.

He silently memorized the complex flight trajectory and the relative positions of these reference orbs.

In fact, he wasn't the only one doing this; the other hired wizards were silently doing the same.

"Levin, what's the situation inside?"

Having finally reached Levin Mills, Jack immediately greeted him.

Levin Mills nodded politely to the newcomers, including Jieming, before giving Jieming a specific nod as a formal greeting.

Hearing Jack's question, Levin Mills shook his head regretfully. "The space distortion is more extensive than we anticipated. The internal area is far larger than we initially estimated, and the search region keeps expanding. Our first batch of reconnaissance modified beast is nearing the limit of their control range, yet we've found nothing."

He glanced at Jieming and the other wizards behind Jack, frowning slightly. Clearly, he wasn't satisfied with the newcomers' strength or numbers. "Is this all you could recruit?"

Jack recognized his dissatisfaction but felt helpless. He sighed wearily. "Most wizards are busy exploiting the abundant resources of the Void Domain Plane. No one has time for this. Finding even these few was a stroke of luck."

Levin Mills nodded, resigned. He understood the current state of affairs in the plane and said no more. He gestured for the group to follow him into the space distortion area.

To the newcomers, Levin Mills and Jack merely flew forward a short distance, as if moving through ordinary space.

Then, as if erased from a painting, their entire bodies vanished abruptly!

Watching Jack and Levin Mills glide effortlessly into the area, the remaining wizards exchanged hesitant glances.

Jieming had already scanned the region with his Universal Eye, confirming it was relatively safe.

Undaunted, he was the first to fly forward.

Reaching the spot where the two had disappeared, he cautiously extended a hand to touch the air.

Suddenly, the scene before him shifted dramatically!

The figures of Jack and Levin Mills reappeared out of thin air right in front of him.

This is the "space distortion" area?

There's absolutely no sensation during the spatial jump!

Does this mean that if a wizard stumbled upon such a place in the wilderness, they wouldn't even realize they were trapped and lost?!

Jieming felt a chill run down his spine.

Then he noticed something was off.

In his vision, Jack and Levin Mills appeared to be standing upside down.

Jieming also felt a powerful pulling force emanating from above his head, as if trying to yank him upward.

He immediately realized what was happening.

They weren't falling backwardโ€”he was flying "upside down"!

Moreover... this "space distortion" area actually had gravity inside?!

Seeing the other two standing steadily on thick, cloud-like masses of mist, Jieming quickly adjusted his posture and carefully descended.

He discovered that the seemingly soft mist beneath his feet was actually solid!

However, the mist wasn't particularly firm. Stepping on it felt slightly ethereal and sinking, like treading on fluffy cotton.

While it didn't seem capable of supporting his entire weight, this cloud-formed earth definitely provided sufficient gravitational pull!

The other wizards had now entered the area as well, equally bewildered by its strangeness.

Levin Mills, noticing their confusion, smiled and explained:

"This is the most peculiar aspect of this 'space distortion' region. Because a massive amount of matter, likely drawn in from elsewhere, has converged in this area, it has reformed a rare phenomenon in the Void Domain Plane: 'gravity'."

"However, you'd be wise to remain airborne. These cloud formations that serve as 'ground' are saturated with pure wind element, and they likely contain numerous undetected, small-scale 'space distortion point'."

"If you were to sink into these clouds, you might, with luck, be randomly teleported to another part of this region. But if your luck fails you, the chaotic spatial turbulence could tear you apart in an instant!"

"Still, it seems the concentration of wind element around the periphery of this space has created the 'distorted space' itself. Above this 'ground,' the spatial stability is surprisingly high. You can fly here without excessive worry."

Jieming had been idly testing the cloud formations with his foot. Upon hearing Levin Mills' warning, he instinctively rose higher, mirroring the reactions of the other newly arrived wizards.
