With Jieming's current shield level, it was still too difficult to withstand attacks like "spatial cutting."
However, in that previous strike, the mysterious creature had likely focused most of its power on offense to maximize its destructive force, compromising its concealment.
For a fleeting moment, its entire body revealed a faint, indistinct outline.
Its qi inevitably leaked slightly as a result.
"Just a second-tier creature, yet it can manipulate the power of 'space'?! This is... absolutely perfect!"
Far from being afraid, Jieming couldn't help but lick his lips in excitement.
Even in the Void Domain Plane, where wind elements were abundant, none of the various creatures he had encountered during his exploration over the past half-month possessed even a trace of mastery over "space."
This included several powerful third-tier beings.
Even for a special race like wizards, most only begin to delve into the mysteries of space after advancing to the third tier.
Yet this creature had already mastered the power of space at the second tier...
Whether captured for research or sold directly to wizards specializing in space studies, its value would be immeasurable!
"This thing... I want it!"
Jieming gazed at his fully healed arm, the avarice of a wizard burning in his eyes, barely contained.
He began to rapidly strategize how to capture this invaluable creature.
Knowing its ability to manipulate space, Jieming had already formed a theory about its method of concealment.
Under normal circumstances, wizards below the third tier lack the soul-level capacity to effectively detect spatial abilities.
Even if they spent vast sums on spell artifacts inscribed with relevant spells, their minds—still lacking the qualitative transformation of higher tiers—would be unable to truly comprehend the complex information returned by such spells.
Fortunately, Jieming wasn't a typical wizard in this regard.
"Thank you for that 'loan,' Wizard Roland..." he murmured inwardly.
If he hadn't spent those grueling decades studying the knowledge of "space gaps" in order to repay Master Roland's debt, he might have truly capsized in this gutter today.
In the next moment, Jieming activated the "Universal Eye."
As the spell activated, countless intricate runes flashed through his eyes.
The dense white mist surrounding him instantly cleared from his vision. Using the Universal Eye's composite vision—which included energy vision, elemental vision, and soul vision—he clearly perceived the flow of microscopic energies within a two-meter radius around him.
Thanks to the spatial knowledge he had acquired during his recent advancement and subsequently "loaded" into the Universal Eye, Jieming quickly detected the residual energy trails rippling outward from his body like concentric waves.
"This range is too small..."
The current range of the Universal Eye was too limited; Jieming still couldn't pinpoint the enemy's hiding place.
Gritting his teeth, Jieming made a reckless decision.
He retrieved a magic potion from his internal space, one that could heal soul damage, and downed it without hesitation.
Then, he abruptly expanded the Universal Eye's reconnaissance range from a mere two meters to hundreds of meters in all directions!
Buzz—!
Though Jieming only pushed the Universal Eye to its limit for a split second before forcibly deactivating it, the overwhelming and chaotic flood of information still surged into his mind like a dam bursting, nearly burning his brain to a crisp!
Fortunately, his body tempering method had granted him exceptional physical resilience, allowing him to endure the strain.
Fueled by the magic potion's medicinal power, his damaged soul rapidly recovered as he frantically sorted through the torrent of information he had glimpsed in that fleeting moment.
And then, he saw it.
He saw the enemy that had been lurking beside him all along.
The creature's form resembled a grotesque fusion of a spider and a snake.
It possessed a serpentine body, lithe and elongated, yet its head bulged grotesquely, resembling a spider with a snake's tail.
The two cone-shaped, razor-sharp forelimbs that had attacked Jieming earlier belonged to this creature.
The reason Jieming had been unable to locate it was because the creature had been using its innate spatial abilities to completely conceal itself within the surrounding space fold.
In essence, it had been operating outside the same spatial framework as Jieming.
Consequently, Jieming's conventional detection methods had proven utterly ineffective.
Now, the spider-snake lurking in the shadows had keenly sensed Jieming's sudden, inexplicable weakening.
Though it couldn't understand the cause, the overwhelming vitality radiating from Jieming's body, combined with its own bloodline-driven hunting instincts, compelled it to strike again.
It leisurely swam through the mezzanine of the space fold, gliding behind Jieming's unguarded back.
The creature aimed its hardened forelimbs precisely at the center of Jieming's spine.
Then, it struck!
At the moment of contact, the creature, guided by its combat instincts, abruptly deployed the space fold attached to its limbs.
In that instant, the sudden expansion of the space fold not only allowed its limbs to reach the enemy in the real world from the other space, but the unfolding space itself unleashed a terrifying spatial cutting effect on the material realm.
Given the prey's previously demonstrated impenetrable shield, the creature instinctively detached a larger portion of its body from the space fold, temporarily amplifying the force of its strike.
As expected, after effortlessly shattering the outermost layers of energy shields like slicing through tofu, the creature's two razor-sharp limbs plunged deep into the prey's back.
Success!
Now, it simply needed to withdraw as usual, fully re-enter the space fold, and vanish without a trace.
Then, it would patiently await the prey's inevitable demise.
The creature instinctively tried to withdraw its limbs, but suddenly realized that the pair embedded in its prey's body were locked in place, as if clamped by some impossibly strong material.
In that instant of confusion and unease, Jieming's head snapped around 180 degrees, his neck twisting violently as he stared directly behind him.
A pair of mocking eyes met the creature's gaze at point-blank range. Jieming grinned, baring his teeth in a predatory smile.
"Got you!"
Having captured the creature's true form and learned its abilities, Jieming had no shortage of ways to deal with this second-tier entity.
After a fierce but utterly one-sided "suppression," Jieming meticulously sealed the creature using dozens of different methods, layer upon layer, before casually tossing it into his internal space.
Only then, as if just remembering, did he glance down at his chest.
Over his heart, two bowl-sized, transparent holes offered a clear view of the landscape behind him.
On anyone else, such gaping holes would undoubtedly be fatal wounds.
Yet, astonishingly, not a single drop of blood flowed from the terrifying orifices.
Even more remarkably, the interiors of the holes revealed no internal organs, blood vessels, or any other bodily structures.
Instead, the inner walls of the cavities were unnaturally smooth, lined with skin as if Jieming's body had naturally grown this way.
As Jieming subtly activated his willpower, the two holes in his chest began to slowly close inward.
The process resembled his entire body being composed of a special, skin-colored liquid.
"Combining the body tempering method with extreme body activation is proving unexpectedly effective..."
Jieming gently rotated his neck, which he had just twisted 180 degrees, eliciting a series of crisp bone-cracking sounds. He couldn't help but sigh in genuine admiration.
At Jieming's current realm of body tempering, he could effortlessly accomplish feats that would seem utterly unimaginable to ordinary people.
Like twisting his head 180 degrees just moments ago...
Combined with his second-tier wizard's body and soul, which had undergone extreme activation, Jieming's control over every inch of his muscles and every drop of his blood had reached an almost inconceivable level.
Under normal circumstances, even he could only manage simple shifts in his internal organs and bones.
But now, with the synergy of these two factors, Jieming could locally reshape his body like clay, altering its form at will.
The reason Jieming appeared unharmed by the attack was that the moment he sensed his opponent's intent, he preemptively manipulated his body to create two internal cavities in the areas about to be struck.
The creature couldn't withdraw its limb because Jieming had clamped down on its joint with tremendous force.
Rather than having two holes pierced through his body by the spider-snake creature, it would be more accurate to say that the creature had voluntarily thrust its precious limb into the "hand" Jieming had meticulously prepared for it!
Having claimed this unexpected "jackpot," Jieming departed contentedly, continuing his flight toward the ship plane.
