"No, this isn't right!"
"What's going on?!"
As they gazed at the massive spatial rift stretching across the sky, all the experienced wizards present, including Jieming, simultaneously wore expressions of utter bewilderment.
Something was wrong!
Terribly wrong!
This sequence of events deviated entirely from the established protocols of planar warfare.
Typically, during their voyage across the chaotic void aboard the "ship plane," Dionysius Spencer, the seventh-tier archwizard commanding this planar war, would allocate time to brief the assembled wizards on the target plane's fundamental characteristics.
Even when intelligence limitations meant these briefings were rudimentary, such information remained crucial for planar wars, where casualties were invariably high.
At the very least, it allowed wizards to prepare for completely unfamiliar enemies, preventing them from being caught off guard.
But now... what was this?
Why had the wizard Dionysius Spencer opened a spatial channel to the target plane so abruptly, without providing any useful information?
Moreover, there was an even more unsettling question: why was the other plane so eerily silent?
The fundamental structure of the wizard world differed significantly from the purely material world Jieming had known in his previous life, particularly in the nature of certain fundamental concepts.
In Jieming's previous scientific understanding, "space" and "time" were essentially nonexistent.
At their core, these concepts were merely constructs created by intelligent life as "units of measurement" to quantify the motion of fundamental particles in the universe.
They were abstract concepts, lacking any concrete, objective reality.
But in the wizard world, space and time were actual, tangible entities!
While the specific elemental structures composing these fundamental entities might vary across different planes, the general principle remained consistent: "time" was primarily constructed from the "water element" and its variations, while "space" was primarily built from the "wind element" and its variations.
Because the fundamental materials of their composition differ, subtle variations in time and space naturally exist between different planes.
This is especially true for time. If a plane remains undetected by external observers, its internal time flow operates at a unique, independent pace.
Fortunately, the wizard world's time adheres to the Observer Uniformity Principle.
In simple terms, regardless of a plane's original time flow before being opened, once it connects with other worlds and is "observed" by outlanders, its time flow is forcibly synchronized with that of the outlanders' world.
It is thanks to this special temporal principle that the wizard civilization, despite conquering countless planes, has never experienced chaos due to differences in time flow rates.
Conversely, if a plane's internal time flow becomes completely disconnected from external observers, its internal time flow rate becomes unpredictable once again.
Normally, when another plane "approaches" a sealed plane, the gravitational attraction between the elements of the two planes would inevitably accelerate the time flow within the sealed plane.
Under normal circumstances, what appeared to the wizards as a spatial rift that could be successfully connected in just a few breaths might have manifested as various Heaven and Earth Anomaly-like omens months or even years in advance within the invaded sealed plane.
For this reason, every time the wizards fully connected a spatial channel, they were invariably met with a long-awaited, frenzied assault from the plane natives.
But now...
The other side of the white mist before them was... unnervingly quiet.
The wizards waited cautiously for a moment, but detected no energy fluctuations or signs of biological attack from the other plane.
This excessive stillness left the wizards, who had been eagerly anticipating their first bloody battle, utterly bewildered.
Even the ferocious bioweapons beside them, which had been primed for slaughter, wore blank expressions due to their limited intelligence.
Cautious wizards had already begun deploying small, expendable scout units from their storage spaces.
They intended to send these units to collect samples of the eerie white mist emanating from the spatial rift, hoping to determine if it contained any unknown toxins or pathogens.
Just then, two concise streams of information, accompanied by a psychic wave, simultaneously flooded the terminals of everyone present.
It was the belated intelligence from Seventh-Tier Archwizard Dionysius Spencer:
1. Preliminary reconnaissance indicates that the highest-tier lifeforms currently observable in this world do not exceed Fifth-Tier.
2. No intelligent lifeforms have been detected in this region.
As Jieming finished reading these brief messages, he suddenly sensed a subtle yet terrifying shift in the atmosphere around him.
He turned to look and saw that after a moment of stunned silence, the wizards' faces had transformed into expressions of greed, manic joy, and bloodlustβa mixture of excitement and cruelty.
An indescribable, pure desire for slaughter erupted from the wizards present, radiating with frenzied intensity.
It was the predatory aura of a creature standing at the apex of the food chain, discovering a defenseless, bountiful ranch and knowing it could plunder at will.
This terrifying and palpable shift in aura even caused the bloodthirsty bioweapons surrounding the wizards to emit low, fear-filled whimpers under its oppressive weight.
With a faint, inexplicable sound, the more than one hundred thousand wizards across the ship plane, their suppressed desires now unleashed, seemed to be jolted awake. In perfect unison, they soared into the air!
Like streaks of pitch-black meteors tearing through the sky, they hurtled toward the colossal rift in the heavens with piercing shrieks and dazzling trails of fire.
The bioweapons, originally intended to serve as cannon fodder in the early stages of the planar war, were now largely abandoned by their masters, save for a few flying individuals who followed their masters into the fray.
After a moment of stunned silence, Jieming snapped back to his senses.
Without the slightest hesitation, Jieming accelerated alongside the swarm of wizards, charging toward the massive spatial rift like a locust plague.
The five Black Giants flanking him immediately responded to his command.
Violent flames erupted from the soles of their feet, propelling their colossal bodies forward like five pitch-black missiles, surging upward in tight formation behind Jieming.
The moment Jieming passed through the spatial rift into the opposing plane, he sensed something was wrong.
Spatial rifts typically form in regions where the planar energy barriers between two planes are thinnest.
In most cases, these regions correspond to the stratosphere or higher altitudes of both planes.
Therefore, when wizards traverse spatial rifts, they usually experience a distinct sensation of gravity suddenly shifting direction.
But... this world was different!
As soon as Jieming burst through the rift, he realized the gravitational pull from the "ship plane" behind him had vanished completely.
Yet simultaneously, he felt no downward force in this new world either!
He glanced at the other wizards who had charged through the rift alongside him.
He noticed that the other wizards, like himself, had instinctively adopted flight postures upon entering, but their movements now appeared somewhat distorted and clumsy.
Jieming pondered for a moment, then made a bold decision: he deactivated the flight spell maintaining his body.
To his astonishment, his body remained suspended in its original posture, drifting silently through the blinding white air.
Now, it was confirmed...
A tidal wave of shock crashed through Jieming's mind.
This plane... had no gravity!
In the wizard world, one of the fundamental laws governing all existence was: "Mass generates gravity."
Gravity, or rather gravitational force, ultimately stemmed from matter itself.
And the vast majority of matter in the wizard world was composed of the solid and weighty earth element.
This plane had no gravity.
This simple fact instantly led Jieming to a staggering conclusion: the earth element in this plane must be exceedingly scarce!
The dense white mist permeating heaven and earth, though visible to the naked eye, might still use particles of the earth element as condensation nuclei.
But I fear the overall proportion of earth element will be shockingly low!
If that's the case, it means that in this world, all spells related to "matter manipulation" and most "force field" spells will be significantly weakened!
"However, conversely, the fire element reserves in this world are likely substantial. The birth of a plane must be based on either matter or energy, so energy-based witchcraft should be more effective..."
Jieming began rapidly analyzing these implications in his mind.
At the same time, a ball of light composed of wind, fire, and water elements flickered, coalesced, and dissipated in his palm.
He was using this simplest method of energy model construction to quickly verify his earlier hypotheses.
"As expected..."
Repeated tests confirmed his suspicions.
In this world, constructing force field spell models was exceptionally difficult and highly unstable.
Such a unique world must have given rise to equally rare life forms and ecological characteristics!
