Harold had chosen this small mountain for several very practical reasons. 

First, the price was low. 

One hundred gold coins had been enough to purchase not only the manor itself but also the entire hill upon which it stood. 

Second, the location was close enough to Casa City to be convenient. Even an ordinary carriage could travel from the manor to the city in only two days, meaning a round trip would require merely four days. For transporting radishes and conducting business, such a distance was entirely acceptable.

Third, and perhaps most importantly, the place was remote. Under normal circumstances, almost nobody would pay attention to a forgotten estate hidden among the hills.

The mountainous region surrounding Casa City contained many similar properties. 

Nearly every estate in the area belonged to some aristocrat or wealthy merchant who used it as a holiday retreat.
