The Fortress rose from the earth like a dark mountain shaped by human hands, its walls built from black stone blocks so massive that each one looked as if it had been cut from the bones of the mountains themselves.
The walls towered nearly forty meters high, stretching from one side of the valley to the other and sealing the passage so completely that they seemed to declare to every traveler, like a stern gatekeeper standing at a palace door, that if you wished to pass, you would first have to earn permission.
From a distance, Montenegro Fortress looked imposing enough to make one's breath catch.
It was like an iron shield planted in the throat of the valley.
Yet when one drew nearer, the illusion of perfection began to crack.
