Chapter 56 - { CHAPTER 54: AN UNEXPECTED WELCOMING GIFT }

I asked out of curiosity:

-"What specifically are those lucrative rewards you mentioned?"

Xi Yong'an rested his chin on his hand, thought for a moment, and then explained:

-"That depends on each player's capability. For instance, 'Symbiotes' will receive potions to control the demons inside their bodies, or items that help extend the duration of their skills. As for ordinary people like us, the rewards will be tools capable of countering and dealing with demons. Of course, they are limited to rank SS and below."

A barrage of new information coming all at once left my mind a bit overloaded. Especially the phrase "Symbiote" - this was the first time I had ever heard of this concept. But based on what Xi Yong'an had just analyzed, I secretly guessed that they must be people capable of fusing with or borrowing the power of demons to fight.

I silently memorized that crucial information in my head.

Seeing the dazed and confused expressions on our faces, Xi Yong'an knew full well that the knowledge just now was a bit too overwhelming to absorb immediately.

Right at that moment, a clattering knock sounded at the door. It was the bodyguard outside bringing in juice and pastries for us. Looking at the delicious plate of food laid out on the table, I couldn't even lift a finger. I had overeaten just a moment ago, so looking at the pile of pastries before my eyes now put me in quite a dilemma. Fearing we would waste the host's kindness, Yashu and I could only laugh helplessly, looking at each other as we forced ourselves to nibble on it bit by bit.

A moment later, Xi Yong'an stood up and walked into the inner room. When he came back out, he unexpectedly brought out two phones that still looked brand new, tossing them straight into our laps:

-"A gift for the two of you, consider it a welcoming present to get to know each other."

-"Ah! How can we?!" - Yashu flusteredly spoke up in surprise. "We just came over to visit. You've already treated us to so many delicious pastries, and even thoroughly shared classified information with us. Accepting this on top of that, we really don't dare to."

-"There's no need to be so polite." - Xi Yong'an nonchalantly leaned back on the sofa. "Back when I first started the company, our reputation wasn't big enough and we had few employees, so I had to handle all sorts of things by myself. The phone kept ringing constantly, and with business data and documents saved on it, the storage would completely run out, so I had to replace them constantly." He paused slightly, waving his hand with a chuckle:

-"Those two devices are just sitting in a corner unused now anyway. I've already wiped out all the random previous information, the storage is completely empty, and they run very smoothly. Leaving them idle would be a waste, so just take them. Consider it my introductory gift."

-"If you've put it that way... then we shall accept it." - Yashu replied hesitantly, her hand timidly picking up the device.

Even though I felt a bit awkward, I had to be thick-skinned and accept the phone. Well, having a means of communication at this time was still the most important thing. I spoke up:

-"Thank you."

Xi Yong'an dropped his playful demeanor from earlier, his expression suddenly becoming serious:

-"But I must admit this 'TRAVEL TOGETHER' app is really bizarre. Every single time I switch to a new device, the old phone will automatically wipe out the app along with all my personal data inside."

Hearing him say that, I curiously turned on the screen of the newly gifted phone. Right before my eyes, an unfamiliar app was automatically running an installation bar at a breakneck speed. Its icon was none other than... "TRAVEL TOGETHER".

I lightly tapped my finger on that icon. An interface with a deep green tone appeared, accompanied by a large, prominent line of text right in the middle of the screen:

[ WELCOME TO TRAVEL TOGETHER, ZHAO TIANXIA. ]

A shiver suddenly ran down my spine. This diabolical app actually knew my name. I tried to press and hold to delete it or tap to stop the download, but the screen completely froze up against my actions. It seemed to have deeply embedded itself into the system, completely inviolable.
