The 'The Place Abandoned by Gods' of Monsa.
Una held a large blade, scaring off those who saw her house had no door and wanted to come in to'stay' for a night.
She hurried to speed up the repair of the door, skillfully using some small tools to fix the door back onto the frame.
As the sky grew slightly dark, she finally finished repairing the door and breathed a sigh of relief.
"I finally fixed it before dark. If I hadn't..."
Una shuddered; she knew the consequences. If it hadn't been fixed by then, some of the homeless people outside would have desperately tried to Impact her place.
Although she had the advantage of a weapon, there was no guarantee those people wouldn't risk their lives; if just a few of them piled on, she might not be able to handle it.
Fortunately, the repair was complete, allowing her to safely pass what she considered the second darkest day of her life.
The first darkest day was the day she was driven here. If it hadn't been for the help of her late uncle, she might have died here on the very first day.
Una was originally an ordinary resident of Monsa. Her family had lived in Monsa for many years, and they were just a normal family.
First, good news arrived: her older brother had performed well in a hunt and was allowed to drink the divine water. After drinking it, he passed the tests and qualified to join the Guard.
This immersed her whole family in joy, cheering for the arrival of better days.
Having someone in the family gain great power after drinking the divine water would make their status much higher than before and could even make life better.
But during the three days her brother went to meet the High Priest, they didn't see him return.
Then, on a morning three days later, Guard surrounded her former home and brought terrible news.
Her brother had died suddenly after drinking the divine water. The High Priest was furious, considering it a desecration of the gods, and directed that anger toward the family members.
Except for her, because of her young age, and her uncle, who was already seriously ill, the two of them escaped with their lives, while all other family members were executed.
Una took a deep breath, telling herself not to think about the past anymore; it would only make her sadder.
She stood up and began the next step of her work, moving things to block the door and strengthen the entrance's defense... but just then, a sound of someone touching the door came from outside, followed by a voice of confusion.
"I remember it was right here! Why isn't this door broken?"
Una was very familiar with this voice; it was the two people who had broken into her house this morning.
Her hair stood on end, and she immediately shouted loudly:
"Don't break my door, I'll open it myself!"
She knew the door couldn't stop those two, so it was better to open it herself and save herself from having to repair the door again.
---
Una hid in a corner, watching the two of them clear off a table and set out some small utensils. These were things Furan had picked up from a resident's house along the way; she also needed a bottle to make the potion.
"Grind these plants into powder and then just give them to me."
She directed Weilin Te to assist on the side, then poured some liquid from a bucket into a wooden bowl herself.
Furan frowned as she looked at the scene before her. Ever since she started making money from crafting potions, she had never used such crude equipment.
However, she still had confidence in creating a true dragon transformation potion.
She poured the powder Weilin Te had ground directly into the bowl and then began to use her Spiritual Power to fuse them.
After reaching her current level of extraordinary Pharmaceutical Studies, she had discovered long ago that as long as she used her powerful Spiritual Power to fuse the materials, she didn't need to worry about steps; she could still create a perfect quality potion.
While those steps could help the materials fuse more naturally and better bring out their effects, they were a bit of a waste of time for Furan.
The effect of the potion she fused directly was no worse than one made using proper steps, with only some minor differences.
Furthermore, she actually had no idea what the recipe for the dragon transformation potion was, so naturally, she didn't know the specific steps and could only fuse them directly.
Weilin Te watched as the liquid in the wooden bowl began to glow, knowing a potion was being made, but... she hesitated, ultimately keeping her thoughts to herself.
She had actually seen other Apothecaries make potions before, and their methods were much more elaborate.
Things like pouring in one-third of the materials first, fusing half of it, then pouring in the rest, flipping the potion up and down without letting the liquid spill... whereas Furan's methods before her seemed a bit crude.
She watched Furan fuse halfway, pour in some material, use Spiritual Power to fuse again, then pour in more material, and fuse again... In reality, Furan didn't know the exact proportions; if there was too much red liquid, she added powder; if there was too much powder, she added red liquid... back and forth, until she finally got closer and closer to the correct ratio.
A flash of white light suddenly emanated from above the wooden bowl, and then the liquid in the entire bowl turned orange and began to bubble.
"Is it finished?" Weilin Te asked impatiently from the side. She saw Furan had maintained this posture for a long time, and her Spiritual Power was no longer fusing the potion in the bowl, so she was a bit anxious.
She couldn't help being so anxious; this potion was linked to whether she could pass this Spirit World Trial, and she desperately wanted to know if this bottle of potion was a success.
"It's finished," Furan replied. She had actually finished it a while ago and was just observing the details of the potion.
Because she had repeatedly interrupted the fusion and added materials, the quality of this bowl of potion was naturally not perfect. In her estimation, it was likely a step away from perfect quality.
But while observing this bowl of potion, she discovered something extraordinary.
Normally, the amount of different potions required to achieve the full effect varies. Many potions only need one-third or one-fourth of a dose to work fully; drinking more just extends the duration.
But for the bowl of potion in front of her, the amount required to achieve the full effect was lower than Furan had expected.
By her estimation, this one bowl of potion could be effective for a full six people. And just by glancing at the materials she had on hand, she realized she had enough to make this potion for hundreds of people.
This wasn't right. If such a small amount counted as one dose, why was the red liquid in that well so depleted? She felt that there weren't many people in Monsa, maybe a hundred thousand at most.
Furthermore, not everyone could drink the divine water. Calculating it this way, where did all those materials go?
"Lai Yi."
This was Weilin Te calling out several times when she saw Furan dazing off, before Furan finally snapped back to her senses.
Furan placed the bowl on the table and said slowly:
"I've made the potion, but I'm not clear on its specific effects. Do you want to drink it first?"
Weilin Te frowned. There was no helping it; they didn't have the recipe, so naturally, they didn't know exactly how it should work.
But she had a sudden idea and looked toward Una in the corner.
Una blinked her eyes, staring at the glowing liquid in the bowl.
