It was monday again
The moment her alarm rang, she hide her face into her pillow and seriously considered skipping school.
Half an hour later, Irene walked into the kitchen wearing her jean and baggy top
Her mother was already preparing breakfast.
"Morning."
"Morning,"irene greeted back
Her father looked up from his coffee.
"You look excited for school."
"I'd rather fight a lion.", irene said
Irene rolled her eyes and sat down.
The smell of toast, eggs, and tea filled the kitchen.
Normally, she would've enjoyed it,But her mind was already thinking about school.
As if on cue, immedetely when she reached school , mia rushed to her from beside her "GOOD MORNING BESTIEEEE", mia yelled
" You sound so happy, what's up", irene asked looking at her sispiciously
Mia danced around in front of her "Did Ralph text me first?"Yes,Am I happy? Also yes,Am I going to tell you every detail? ,Absolutely
Irene laughed softly" I knew he picked your number on my phone yesterday"
"That's so sweet of him", mia blushed
The two girls laughed as they headed toward their classroom.
Students passed them from every direction,
Some heading to class.
Others standing around talking before the bell.
Then Irene noticed lucian, Standing near the lockers across the hallway,Talking to a group of friends.
For some reason, her steps slowed slightly.
Mia immediately noticed."Oh?"
"Oh what?", irene tried to pretend
"You saw him.", mia smiled teasly
Irene looked away immediately." I saw alot of people"
Before Mia could tease her further, Lucian looked up,and their eyes met.
Lucian gave a small nod,as a simple greeting.
Mia was still laughing when the first bell rang,Saving Irene from further embarrassment.
As the girls entered the classroom, Irene dropped into her seat with relief.
Maybe today would finally be normal, A normal school day, Normal classes, Normal lunch, and normal people
Lucian sat two rows behind her today,Neither of them spoke much yet
But every now and then, Irene could feel his gaze on her.
Whenever she turned around, he looked away.
And whenever he looked at her again, she feel her blood boil
At lunch break, students poured into the courtyard.
The weather was beautiful.
Bright sky, Cool breeze, Perfect weather.
Irene sat beneath a large oak tree near the sports field.
Mia was busy talking about Ralph for the hundredth time.
Lucian sat nearby pretending not to listen,Which meant he was listening.
Then A single silver feather drifted from the sky
The feather landed directly on Irene's lap.The moment her fingers touched it, A vision flashed across her mind, A forest,
Silver trees with snow and Glowing rivers.
A pair of golden eyes watching her from the darkness.
The vision vanished instantly, Irene gasped.
Then the feather disappeared.
"Irene?"Lucian was suddenly step beside her,
"What happened?", he asked corcernly
She looked at him, then at her empty hands.
"I...", She wasn't sure herself.
For a brief moment, Lucian grabbed her hand for minite, But it felt much longer,Long enough for Irene's body to forget how to function.
Neither of them pulled away immediately,
Then Mia appeared between them,"Oh."
Lucian immediately released Irene's hand.
Mia's grin widened.
A few minutes later, they left the courtyard and walked toward the far side of the school grounds.
There was a small garden behind the library that students rarely visited during lunch.
Tall hedges surrounded the area, blocking most of the noise from the school.
It was quiet,and Private.
Neither of them spoke for a moment, before Lucian leaned against a nearby tree,"What happened back there?"
Irene looked down at her hands, Then she told him everything,The silver feather, The strange vision, The forest, The glowing river,And the golden eyes watching her from the darkness.
When she finished, Lucian remained silent.
Not because he didn't believe her, but because he did
"You think I'm going crazy too, don't you?" Irene asked quietly.
Lucian immediately shook his head,"No."
"Then what was it?", irene asked
"I don't know.", he answered
The wind moved gently through the trees around them.
For a sec neither of them spoke, Then Lucian stepped closer, "Hey."
Irene looked up.
"If you saw it, then you saw it.", he counciled
"But nobody else did.", she said
"That doesn't mean it wasn't real.", he replied
His voice was calm and Steady.
The kind of calm voice that somehow made everything feel less frightening.
Irene laughed softly,"You always sound like you know what you're doing."
Lucian smirked,"I do"
"You're lying."irene continues" You don't have brain"
"Maybe a little.", lucian laughed
A small breeze brushed past them, and a strand of hair fell across her face.
Without thinking, Lucian reached out and tucked it behind her ear.
The movement was simple and gentle
Yet Irene's body immediately forgot how to behave.
neither of them moved,neither of them looked away,before irene can't stand the contact and turned to leave
"Irene.",he callled
She stopped and before she could walk away, Lucian stepped in front of her.
Her back lightly touched the wall behind her,His hand rested against the wall beside her head.
"No thank you?" he asked quietly.
"Thank you for what?",irene asked her body feeling hot by the tension
"For my help",lucian teased
"For what help"irene said
"For your hair and for this..."he said before he helped her to clean the dirt in the corner of her mouth
At first irene thought he's going to kiss her but he helped her to picked up dirt
"Why the f**k did I think is gonna kiss me?",irene said in her mind
"Hmmm,I got to go",irene said before the left
It's closing time in school,Students immediately began packing their bags,The classroom filled with noise,Chairs scraping,
Conversations starting.
Irene quickly passed her belongings and headed toward the hallway
As Irene stepped into the hallway, she heard footsteps behind her,she thought it was a random person until she heard her name
