Chapter 273 - Chapter 273: You Did It on Purpose? So Did I~

The scene of Hamura's temple rising from around the lunar palace and flying straight toward the gigantic stone statue drifting in space did not escape Rei's current perception and eyesight.

And as he watched the enormous Hamura statue expand at an even faster speed after merging with Hamura's temple, Rei, who had just broken through one wave of meteor rain, turned his head toward Obito Uchiha.

Obito was being beaten down by Rei's Bone Clones, who had activated Six Heavens Vajra, and did not dare release his intangibility for even a single second.

With a somewhat regretful tone, Rei asked,

"Do you know what you are doing, Obito Uchiha?"

"I do not."

Obito Uchiha clearly knew that Rei's question was not referring to the utterly obvious matter of their current battle.

So he gave an extremely direct answer in a tone that could be called resolute.

"You do not?"

Rei could not help raising his brows.

"Then did you deliberately bring Black Zetsu here, or… were you unknowingly deceived by his words and brought him up here?"

"Of course…"

Looking at Rei's suddenly focused gaze, Obito Uchiha tilted his head.

On the right half of his face, which had once been crushed under a giant boulder, an ugly smile appeared.

"I did it on purpose."

"Even you would not have imagined that I still had this move to play, would you, Rei Kaguya?"

"A reckless move where even you do not know what subsequent developments will occur can still be called a move?"

Rei asked back in a pitying tone.

"No matter what Black Zetsu truly is, no matter what Black Zetsu intends to do, at least on the matter of killing you, there is an absolutely unquestionable tacit understanding between us… And since we have reached that consensus, this step can naturally count as a move I placed."

The gray bone blade in the Six Heavens Vajra's hand slashed sideways, cutting Obito Uchiha's phantom image at the waist.

A sharp and surging sword wind howled out, striking heavily against the crystallized earth and turning into a huge crack that continuously spread outward.

But Obito Uchiha's figure returned to normal at that moment, without suffering even the slightest injury.

"Ah, so that is how you are thinking… I cannot exactly say you are wrong. After all, I am indeed an enemy Black Zetsu cannot avoid if it wants to achieve its goal. Relying on that consensus, before I am completely defeated by the two of you, you and it can indeed work together wholeheartedly and cooperate with perfect sincerity."

Rei glanced with his Byakugan at the rapidly expanding hole that led directly into space, and at the end of that hole, Hamura's stone statue whose body was continuously growing larger while attempting to launch an even larger-scale meteor shower.

Then he shook his head and said to Obito Uchiha,

"But is that all?"

"Aside from seizing the body of an Otsutsuki clansman, then letting Black Zetsu use this temporarily stolen body to control the Otsutsuki clan's Giant Tenseigan and the Hamura statue that moves by relying on the Tenseigan's chakra… are there no other backups?"

As Rei spoke, the new round of meteor rain strengthened by the Giant Tenseigan was already dragging long flaming tails behind it.

It howled as it tore through the atmosphere covering the moon and descended toward the area where Rei stood with unstoppable momentum.

But in Obito Uchiha's eyes, that dazzling firelight did nothing more than illuminate Rei's pure white skin until it looked like porcelain.

It failed to make him show even the slightest trace of wavering or hesitation.

It was as if that meteor rain, which was enough to turn dozens of miles into a sea of hellfire, was merely a splendid burst of fireworks blooming outside a window.

Gorgeous, but harmless.

Boom, boom, boom, boom…

Huge shockwaves surged from the crystallized ground.

After Black Zetsu became increasingly adept at using the Giant Tenseigan's power, the meteor rain it created also became far more formidable.

The crystalline earth that had originally been able to fully withstand the impact and explosions of falling meteors was blasted apart by this round of bombardment, sending crystals scattering in all directions.

Rei's figure himself was completely swallowed by billowing smoke and flame—

Yet even so, Rei's unhurried, perfectly composed voice still entered Obito Uchiha's ears with incomparable clarity amid the chaotic noise of meteors striking the ground, a sound that should have been enough to make anyone go deaf.

"Just now, I was waiting. Waiting for Black Zetsu to show power worthy of being called your trump card. Waiting for those dangerous people who might have appeared early because I disrupted history's original course, and who might just so happen to have been found by you…"

"But now, it seems that waiting was a little self-indulgent on my part."

"Still, that does not matter. If I cannot wait for enemies from the future, then taking this chance to resolve another historical problem hidden on the moon is not bad either… Since Black Zetsu has already reached the point of controlling the Giant Tenseigan, that fellow should no longer be able to continue restraining himself, right?"

And so, Obito Uchiha froze.

Not merely because of the composed, certain-of-victory attitude Rei displayed.

It was also because of the secret intelligence revealed in his words, and his utterly unconcerned attitude toward it.

He suddenly realized that in this battle on the moon, he seemed to have become the person who possessed the least information.

Otsutsuki Shinya, who held the Otsutsuki clan's accumulated knowledge and intelligence passed down over thousands of years.

Black Zetsu, who had disguised itself as the incarnation of Madara Uchiha's will, but actually possessed intentions completely different from Madara's Eye of the Moon Plan.

And Rei Kaguya, who had grown at a speed beyond imagination to become the strongest in the shinobi world and whom Obito regarded as his greatest enemy…

All of them possessed information that he had no way of knowing.

And as someone who had received Konoha's systematic shinobi education, Obito Uchiha's instincts told him that if, in a war involving multiple factions, one side was at an absolute disadvantage in intelligence, then that side would inevitably be the first to fail and leave the board.

In other words…

Have I already been eliminated?

Obito Uchiha truly, truly, truly did not want to admit that.

But when he saw Rei leisurely create another Bone Clone within the firelight and dust, letting this Bone Clone that had inherited a portion of his chakra fly alone toward the hole in the sky, while Rei's main body used the cover of smoke and dust to merge into the crystalline ground and rapidly head toward the Boundary Lake constructed by Otsutsuki Hamura, which connected the shinobi world and the moon—

Obito Uchiha, whose only remaining trump card was Kamui, finally realized the laughable position he held in this lunar battle.

It was as though he had merely been counted along as an extra.

"You cannot… You cannot treat me like this! Aaaaaaahhhh!"

Obito Uchiha released a roar no one cared about and chased after Rei's main body with all his strength.

But under the difference between the Six Paths and a mortal, before he could even rush a hundred meters, Rei's figure had already vanished from his sight.

And the four Bone Clones that had released their Six Heavens Vajra forms during the explosions of the fallen meteors closed in at that moment, following him like shadows with mocking smiles.

"You may go this far, but no farther."
