In Hell's Kitchen, a longtime local chatting inside a tea restaurant told Qin Xiao that the small building once belonged to a British baron named Ikaris.
Before Hong Kong's return to China, the man's family had conducted trade business there, and the building in the photo used to belong to them.
The old local's parents had once worked for Baron Ikaris.
The photo itself had come from his parents.
After Hong Kong's return, Ikaris and his family moved back to England, leaving the building vacant ever since.
A few years ago, however, a massive typhoon struck and tore the roof off the top floor.
The Ikaris family contacted the old local's still-living father and sent him money to repair the building.
That was why the circular glass window on the top floor no longer existed.
Pretending to be especially fond of that window, Qin Xiao casually asked where the building was located.
After listening to the old man ramble on about old stories for quite a while, Qin Xiao finally left and headed over to inspect the building himself.
Although he was already mostly certain Ancient One's guess had been correct, he figured:
"Well, since I'm already here…"
The building stood at a Y-shaped intersection.
It was a standard triangular standalone structure—narrow in the front and wide in the back.
The window layout and exterior walls had clearly been heavily altered compared to the old photograph.
The front entrance consisted of wooden double doors, protected by a metal security gate.
Several thick iron chains were wrapped around the gate in a messy tangle, secured by a palm-sized lock.
Following the principle of "since I'm here, might as well take a look," Qin Xiao casually grabbed the lock and twisted it off the chains with one hand.
After pushing open the wooden door and stepping inside, he discovered there was none of the moldy odor one would expect from an abandoned building.
The floor was spotless.
He reached out and touched the wall—clean, no dust whatsoever.
That obviously contradicted the old local's story.
According to him, the Ikaris family wasn't short on money at all. They had simply left the building unused, with no intention of selling or renting it.
So why was the place so clean?
Thinking about it got him nowhere.
Qin Xiao lifted his leg and headed up the stairs toward the second floor.
The staircase was an old-fashioned style: one broad staircase leading upward before splitting into two sides at the landing.
Just as Qin Xiao reached the corner—before he even had time to turn—
The wooden handrail beneath his hand suddenly rippled like waves.
Then, right before his eyes, the wooden railing transformed into a massive metallic sword.
With a sharp whistle through the air, it swept horizontally toward him.
Qin Xiao instinctively ducked low, narrowly avoiding the slash, then lightly leapt backward several steps down the stairs.
Using the corner wall to jam the giant sword's movement.
"What the hell is this?"
The thought had only just flashed through his mind when the connection between the staircase and the wall began rippling as well.
The stairs separated from the wall, and the wooden steps transformed into a gigantic iron hammer that smashed straight toward him.
This time there was nowhere to dodge.
Qin Xiao crossed his arms in front of his head and took the blow head-on.
Boom!
Using the impact force, Qin Xiao sprang backward and escaped the staircase area entirely.
"Quit hiding and playing tricks!"
Standing several meters away, Qin Xiao watched as the staircase slowly returned to normal.
"If someone's here, come out and talk. Otherwise I'll tear this whole building apart."
He stared toward the staircase landing as he spoke.
After transmigrating into the Marvel universe, Qin Xiao had already seen all kinds of bizarre people and abilities. Two strange attacks weren't enough to scare him away.
Still…
The ability to alter matter so casually was extremely impressive.
For a moment, Qin Xiao even wondered whether this timeline also contained the X-Men.
Mutants.
But he quickly dismissed the thought.
Because as soon as his words fell—
A figure slowly appeared around the corner.
A black-haired, black-eyed woman with yellow skin.
She looked no different from an ordinary Chinese woman.
Except her hands glowed faintly with golden geometric patterns.
Circular symbols intertwined with curved lines.
Qin Xiao's first reaction was:
A sorcerer from Kamar-Taj.
But he immediately denied it.
Kamar-Taj magic carried an orange-red energy that looked violent and explosive.
The energy around this woman's hands was different.
Pure golden.
Calm and restrained.
If one didn't look carefully, it was hard to even notice it was energy at all.
The moment Qin Xiao saw that energy and those patterns, they felt strangely familiar.
Then suddenly—
Three words popped into his mind:
The Eternals.
Compared to Qin Xiao's shock, the woman didn't waste a single word.
She raised her hand immediately.
Golden energy wrapped around two nearby chairs.
With a flick of her arm, the chairs transformed into two massive hammerheads the size of watermelons.
Driven by the golden energy, they whistled through the air like chained meteor hammers straight toward Qin Xiao.
Qin Xiao dodged aside in a flash, avoiding both attacks.
But the instant he stepped forward—
Five or six swords of varying shapes suddenly slashed toward him from the front.
The blades covered nearly every angle around his body.
Almost instantly, Qin Xiao drew his Tang saber.
Enhanced by his Intermediate Weapon Mastery, he spun countless blade flowers with one hand.
Metallic clashes rang continuously through the room.
The Tang saber struck each flying sword with astonishing precision, knocking them away one after another.
Five or six swords couldn't even delay Qin Xiao for a full second.
But the moment he knocked them aside and stepped forward again—
This time, more than ten swords surrounded him from every direction.
Blocking them all with pure swordsmanship was unrealistic.
So Qin Xiao simply swept his Tang saber horizontally.
Several obstructing swords were sent flying immediately.
Ignoring the other blades attacking from different directions, he charged directly toward the woman.
Passive defense had never been Qin Xiao's style.
The instant he moved—
He opened his mouth and unleashed a blazing pillar of fire straight at her.
For the first time, surprise finally appeared in the woman's calm eyes.
