Chapter 168 - The Shadow Legion

[Ding! The host is currently standing above Malekith's head and meets the check-in requirements. Would you like to check in?]

"Check in."

[Checking in. Countdown: 10 seconds... 10, 9, 8... 3, 2, 1. Check-in successful. Congratulations, Host! You have obtained the Shadow Legion from the world of Jackie Chan Adventures.]

[Shadow Legion: 108 members. Tireless, powerful, and absolutely loyal, they can move unhindered, making them the finest servants and the most terrifying opponents.]

[The Shadow Legion soldiers of each corps are utterly devoted to their master. They move with incredible speed and possess excellent close-quarters combat skills. They are sometimes equipped with ninja weapons such as shuriken, katanas, and staffs, while at other times they use different equipment. They can conceal themselves within shadows and ignore terrain while fighting.]

[Would you like to claim the reward?]

Hearing the system notification, Han Shaoqing was fairly satisfied.

Although the Shadow Legion was only slightly stronger than ordinary humans—in terms of physical constitution, they were even inferior to the average Asgardian—they made up for it with unwavering loyalty and tireless dedication.

Forget the standard 9-9-6 work schedule. Even 7 a.m. to 3 a.m., or working around the clock without a single day off, wouldn't earn so much as a complaint from them.

Receiving the check-in reward also meant that Malekith had outlived his usefulness.

No...

To be more precise, his death still had some value.

Han Shaoqing drew the Spear of Eternity and thrust it through Malekith's heart, completely shattering the Dark Elf's final hopes.

Lifting Malekith's corpse high into the air on the spear, Han Shaoqing shouted,

"Whoever dares invade Asgard, no matter how distant they may be, shall be slain!"

"Long live the King!"

Esdeath appropriately led the cheer.

"Long live the King!"

"Long live the King!"

The Asgardian warriors who had arrived with them shouted in unison.

What they had witnessed was their king—Loki—personally slaying the leader of the invading enemy.

To an Asgardian, there was no greater honor.

As a result, King "Loki's" position became more secure than ever. No one questioned his legitimacy anymore. Instead, they respected him even more.

Even if Thor were to return now, chances were no one would pay him any attention.

After all, Thor hadn't been present when the Frost Giants invaded.

Nor had he been there when the Dark Elves attacked.

It was entirely under the wise and heroic leadership of King Loki that they had achieved victory after victory, preserving the glory of Asgard.

They believed that under King Loki's rule, Asgard would only continue to prosper—perhaps even surpassing the era of Odin himself.

With the battle over, it was time to clean up the battlefield and collect the spoils.

The Dark Elves' technology had plenty of merits.

Their small aircraft, for example, were made from incredibly durable materials. They could crash directly through meteors while in flight and slice through buildings with ease.

Han Shaoqing also collected the Dark Elves' dark-energy weapons and black hole grenades, intending to equip the Shadow Legion with them.

In addition, he planned to provide every Shadow Legion soldier with a Vibranium combat suit.

Once fully equipped, every Shadow Legion warrior would instantly possess combat abilities comparable to Earth's top-tier superheroes. Combined with their assassination techniques and black hole grenades, they might even be capable of catching and eliminating beings at the Sub-Skyfather level by surprise.

After the chaos had settled, Han Shaoqing—still disguised as Loki—reached an unprecedented level of prestige throughout Asgard.

The rewards had been considerable.

But managing Asgard itself held little interest for Han Shaoqing.

A few days later, the guardian in charge of the Bifrost informed him that the dwarves had finished crafting the mold for the new weapon and could begin forging at any time.

Upon receiving the news, Han Shaoqing brought Esdeath back to Nidavellir to observe the process firsthand, while also making sure the dwarves didn't fumble at such a critical moment.

"Let's begin."

As soon as Han Shaoqing and Esdeath arrived, they got straight to the point.

King Eitri wasted no time and immediately ordered the dwarven craftsmen into action.

The forge roared to life.

The iris mechanism opened.

The six enormous star rings began rotating before eventually aligning into a single straight line, overlapping one another.

Nidavellir radiated astonishing heat as golden-blue flames erupted.

The energy gathered in the central core condensed into a beam of light that shot directly into the forge, striking the Uru metal along with several rare metals from across the universe.

These had originally been the materials Eitri intended to use for forging Stormbreaker.

Now, they were being used instead to reforge the Asauchi.

After roughly ten minutes of smelting, both the metals and the Asauchi melted together.

The molten alloy was poured into a mold engraved with magical patterns.

Immediately afterward, Eitri personally smashed open the mold.

A crimson-hot katana appeared before Han Shaoqing and Esdeath.

The only thing still missing was its hilt.

Han Shaoqing took out a branch from the World Tree and used it as the hilt before saying to Esdeath,

"Gather your soul power."

Without hesitation, Esdeath condensed her spiritual power.

Under Han Shaoqing's guidance, that soul power flowed into the blade.

Then something astonishing happened.

The blazing-hot blade rapidly cooled.

At the same time, it began radiating terrifying cold.

Moisture in the surrounding air instantly froze into countless snowflakes that drifted gently downward.

A divine weapon possessed a spirit.

The reforged Asauchi flew into Esdeath's hand of its own accord.

The moment she grasped it, she closed her eyes, as though she had suddenly understood something.

Within her consciousness...

She found herself standing amid endless snow-covered peaks.

Boundless white snow blanketed heaven and earth.

The icy wind howled relentlessly, chilling her to the very core.

Standing atop the highest mountain, Esdeath gazed into the distance.

As far as the eye could see...

There was nothing but a frozen world of ice and snow.

The bitter wind endlessly circulated between heaven and earth.

It felt as though only an instant had passed...

Yet it also seemed as if she had witnessed eternity itself.

Something appeared to be calling to her.

She wandered through the snowy mountains, leaving no footprints behind, until a flawless snow spirit appeared before her.

She looked like a girl of twelve or thirteen.

Her skin was as smooth as jade.

Her snow-white hair was purer than winter itself.

Her crystal-clear white eyes seemed capable of reflecting one's very soul.

"Hehe~"

With a sweet, melodious laugh, the snow spirit leaped into Esdeath's embrace.

In an instant—

The dream shattered.

Esdeath opened her eyes.

Within her memories now existed a clear understanding.

That had been the Shikai dream.

The force that had drawn her forward within that dream was none other than the spirit of her Zanpakutō residing deep within her soul.

At that moment...

The Asauchi gained a name of its own.

It had transformed into a true Zanpakutō.

More accurately...

It had become a unique existence that surpassed even the limits of the Bleach world itself.

The once ordinary blade now resembled crystal, nearly transparent.

Faint snowflake patterns shimmered across its surface.

Its hilt had been carved from a branch of the World Tree, while iridescent patterns adorned the blade near the guard, creating a beauty that was both breathtaking and mournful.

"Command the World's Armies—Qingxue!"

Esdeath completed her Shikai.

An overwhelming wave of spiritual pressure instantly engulfed Nidavellir.

The very heavens and earth seemed to freeze in place.

The shadow of death descended upon every dwarf present.

It felt as though, in the very next moment, each of their heads would be severed from their bodies.

Fortunately, Esdeath exercised restraint.

The terrifying pressure vanished as quickly as it had appeared.

She sheathed her sword.

"I can feel it..."

A captivating smile spread across Esdeath's face.

"Power unlike anything I've ever known."

The enhancement granted by the divine weapon had dramatically increased her strength.

She even felt that, if she wished, she could freeze the entirety of Nidavellir solid in an instant.
