Chapter 276 - Taste Synesthesia Activated

Translator: CinderTL

Chef + Stablehand

Gained additional buff: Human-Horse Harmony

Human-Horse Harmony: Allows the creation of highly nutritious, easily digestible meals tailored to the tastes of non-human companions (such as mounts, war pets, or animal companions). Consuming these meals grants the target companion significant stamina recovery and accelerated wound healing. When the chef and a specific mount or animal companion they have long cared for or share a deep bond with simultaneously consume the chef's cuisine (which need not be identical), a temporary "life link" is established between them. A portion of any healing or buff effects received by one party will be shared with the other. Furthermore, when one party is in a state of extreme fatigue or pain, the other can faintly sense their general condition and location.

"So..."

Roland's eyebrows arched slightly as he carefully read the description.

"Any traits or buffs related to the Stablehand class invariably revolve around mounts."

As he pondered this, his thoughts drifted to Black Wind, his old companion who had accompanied him on recent outings.

While Black Wind was already an exceptional mount among ordinary horses, the steed was clearly struggling to keep pace with Roland's rapidly advancing strength.

Even with the knight's squire trait or other enhancements, Black Wind struggled to adapt to high-intensity combat environments.

Its primary use now seemed to be daily transportation.

"Perhaps... I should start looking for information on a mount that matches my current strength," Roland mused.

"Combining such a mount with these class traits and enhancements would undoubtedly significantly boost my overall combat prowess."

Chef + Fisherman

Gained additional enhancement: Tidal Blessing

Tidal Blessing: When preparing dishes using rare or magical aquatic ingredients (such as moonlight trout, thunder clams, or abyssal octopus tentacles), the consumer gains a temporary environmental adaptation buff related to water or the ocean, in addition to the dish's inherent effects. The duration of the buff depends on the chef's cooking skill level.

"This enhancement is similar to the others, but..."

Roland's eyebrows twitched as he noticed the recurring phrase at the end of the description.

"Unlike the traits and enhancements I've obtained before, the duration of this resonance-generated buff from the chef class seems largely dependent on my cooking skill level?"

His gaze slowly shifted upward, settling on the skill panel.

There, the Basic Cooking skill, which had already reached level three, now lacked the "MAX" indicator signifying maximum level.

"Does this mean... there's still room to improve my Basic Cooking skill?"

"Perhaps... the classes related to Basic Cooking aren't limited to the basic class, Chef?"

Just as Roland was deep in thought, a clear, lively voice called out from the courtyard.

"Roland!"

The elf girl's voice was as energetic as ever.

"Is it ready yet? I'm starving!"

"Almost done! The last dish is coming right up!"

Hearing the impatient call, Roland temporarily suppressed his speculations and quickly picked up his cooking tools, busying himself at the stove.

In no time at all, a stir-fried venison dish, radiating a rich meaty aroma, was ready.

As he gazed at the dish's enticing color and mouthwatering fragrance, Roland's eyebrows lifted slightly.

Whether it was his imagination or not, he felt...

This dish, prepared after he had officially become a Chef, seemed to possess an indescribable, subtle glow on its surface, unlike his previous creations.

This sight...

For some reason, it reminded him of a certain anime he had watched as a child.

Shaking his head to dismiss the far-fetched association, he quickly grabbed the plate and hurried out of the kitchen.

Pop!

With the crisp sound of a cork being pulled, the lavish dinner officially began.

The long table was laden with a sumptuous feast.

Avril could barely contain her excitement, her eyes sparkling as she stared at the steaming, glistening stir-fried venison at the center of the table.

Theresa sat quietly beside her, her long silver hair shimmering softly in the candlelight.

Galvis, meanwhile, surveyed each dish with keen interest, his fingers unconsciously tapping the table as if searching for the rhythm of the meal.

When Roland placed the venison, its surface shimmering with a subtle radiance, at the center of the table, Avril immediately cheered and eagerly forked a large piece into her mouth, her eyes closing in satisfaction.

"Wow! Roland, this venison! It feels..."

The elf girl frowned, chewing thoughtfully for a moment before speaking, her voice tinged with confusion.

"It feels like my body... has become lighter!"

Theresa gracefully sampled a piece as well. Her usually serene eyes widened slightly, and a hint of warmth seemed to melt the coldness in her expression.

She set down her fork and gently clenched her hand, feeling the surge of strength coursing through her fingersโ€”more potent than usual.

When she reached for her wine cup, she momentarily misjudged her grip, inadvertently cracking the thick ceramic vessel with a faint, hairline fracture.

The Silver-Haired Woman paused slightly, a faint blush coloring her ears.

"Hmm?"

Galvis, keenly observing the subtle changes in Theresa and Avril, thoughtfully cut off a small piece of venison and savored it carefully.

"The meat is unbelievably tender..."

As he chewed, his gaze gradually sharpened and cleared.

"And... strangely, the usual clamor of daily thoughts in my mind... seems to have been smoothed away by some invisible force. My thoughts are clearer and more resolute than ever before."

Seeing his companions' reactions, Roland immediately understood.

This was the temporary attribute boost granted by the Wild Gift and the Steadfast Morale effect bestowed upon the trio by Shared Fate.

"I'm glad you like it," Roland said, raising his wine glass with a smile. "Eat heartily tonight. There's plenty for everyone."

"Then I won't hold back!" Avril chirped, eagerly responding first.

For a moment, the courtyard was filled only with the soft clinking of cutlery and the sounds of food being enjoyed.

In mere moments, the lavish feast that had adorned the table was completely devoured.

Roland stood up and stretched his limbs.

After assigning the dishwashing duties to Galvis and ignoring the poet's mournful gaze, he exchanged a few brief words with Avril and Theresa before turning and returning to his room.

As the door softly closed, the outside clamor was instantly silenced.

Roland exhaled deeply, quickly washed up, and then, bathed in the bright moonlight streaming through the window, retrieved two potions from the pouch at his waist:

The Negative Energy Protection Potion and the concentrated nutrient potion.

He gently shook the bottles, confirming that the liquids remained clear and showed no signs of spoilage, before uncorking them and pouring the icy potions into his mouth.

The liquids slid down his throat, first the Negative Energy Potion's characteristic bone-chilling bitterness, followed by the concentrated nutrient potion's gentle, life-pulsing warmth and lingering sweetness.

Yet, the instant these two contrasting flavors mingled on his tongue...
