The first shot came from the eastern side of the village.
Kaguya moved before the sound reached the chapel.
The bullet passed through the space where her head had been and struck the stone wall behind her, throwing fragments of concrete across the floor. A second round followed from the north, then another from the south.
They had surrounded her properly.
Not with nervous soldiers scattered behind vehicles, but with layered positions, controlled distance, and overlapping lines of fire.
Kaguya stepped backward into the chapel as automatic fire tore through the entrance. Wooden benches shattered. Dust filled the air. The cracked statue near the altar lost half its face beneath a burst of rifle rounds.
Outside, Marcus Graves watched through his optic.
"Target inside."
"Team Two shifting left."
"Team Three holding the western side."
"Drone feed partially blocked."
Marcus stayed behind a collapsed wall opposite the chapel.
