Chapter 157 - chapter 94.5

A navy soldier went towards the dead body of the right-hand man of Davina Jones.

His boots crunched against the blood-soaked wood, each step bringing him closer to the broken form that lay among the wreckage. The body was still, lifeless, a testament to the battle that had raged across the Infinite Sea.

He kicked the body.

It rolled like a ball of meat, its limbs flopping, its head lolling, its eyes empty, white, blind staring at nothing. The soldier's face was hard, unfeeling, cold.

"Huh." He looked around. "Tch."

He shouted out loud, his voice at its heights.

"THE PRINCESS OF THE SEA IS NOT HERE!"

The words echoed across the water, carried by the wind, reaching the ears of every soldier on the ships.

"SHE HAS BEEN LOST!"

As he said it out loud, he looked around to see if she was anywhere around him. His eyes scanned the bodies, the wreckage, the blood. He searched, turning his head left and right, his gaze sweeping across the deck.

He turned his head immediately to a particular side.

An arrow flew into his head.

SHLIK!

The shaft pierced his skull, splitting it into two. The head exploded bone and brain and blood spraying across the deck. His body stood for a moment longer, then crumpled.

One of the navy soldiers on the ship was looking at the entire thing that happened. His eyes widened. His mouth opened. His heart stopped.

As soon as he saw it, he shouted.

"AMBUSH!"

His voice was a scream sharp, desperate, terrified.

"WE HAVE AMBUSH FROM AN ENEMY WE CANNOT SEE!"

He turned, ready to run. Ready to flee. Ready to survive.

An arrow hit him.

It pierced his throat, cutting through flesh, severing his windpipe, ending his life in an instant. He fell like a sack of grain, his body crumpling, his blood pooling on the deck.

Now there was a silent killer on this sea.

A great sniper had arrived.

in the space between the screams and the silence, between the announcement of the ambush and the death that followed.

The navy soldiers froze.

The sniper watched.

And the sea roared.
