Chapter 172 - Chapter 172: Circumstances Force One's Hand

"Host accompanies Yūhi Kurenai for a drink, receives reward [Magic: Tree Binding Kill]."

Magic: Tree Binding Kill: The user first disappears, trees grow from the ground under the opponent and bind them, and the user attacks by emerging from the trees.

Neji paused for a moment, then walked out with Kurenai. Ordinary techniques were no longer very useful against him.

Soon, Kurenai led Neji to a rather unremarkable apartment building and knocked on one of the doors.

"Anko, open up."

"Sister Anko?"

Mitarashi Anko opened the door and saw Kurenai, who had a kind smile on her face, and Neji, whose expression was as calm as still water. She was slightly surprised and her eyes sparkled brightly.

This pairing… I love it.

"Sister Anko, Neji, what's going on between you two?" Mitarashi Anko immediately showed her signature silly, sweet smile, her pretty face brimming with curiosity.

"Neji, spit it out, when did you two get together?" Mitarashi Anko boldly threw an arm around Neji's neck, completely disregarding any sense of propriety between a man and a woman.

In reality, like Kurenai, she had subconsciously let down her guard around Neji. Otherwise, no matter how outgoing she was, she wouldn't have acted this way.

"Anko, you've misunderstood. Kurenai-sensei and I just..." Neji thought he should probably explain, but before he could finish, Mitarashi Anko interrupted him.

"What did you call me?" Mitarashi Anko looked at Neji excitedly, her eyes hazy, overjoyed.

"Anko?" Neji said tentatively.

Mitarashi Anko burst into laughter upon hearing this, her cheeks flushing red all the way to the roots of her ears. Her heart pounded wildly, and she felt incredibly delighted.

"Neji, you're really quick-witted," Mitarashi Anko murmured, her words a little slurred, "For that, I'll tell you about Sister Kurenai's habits too."

"For example, when she sleeps, she likes to roll up the sheets and wrap herself inside. What's more, she's completely naked under there," Mitarashi Anko said with her silly, sweet smile. "Meaning, if you were to sneak into her room, Sister Kurenai wouldn't..."

"Ahhh! Anko, what are you talking about!!!" Kurenai shrieked, frantically covering Anko's mouth without regard for her appearance. Her face was so red it looked like it could drip water. She secretly wondered why she had such a goofy best friend.

But, would Neji really come?

Kurenai thought shyly. Snapping back to reality, she quickly chided herself. How could she think that? He was just a 16-year-old kid.

However, Neji was too mature, so everyone found it hard to see him as a child.

"What are these two up to?" Neji wondered inwardly, completely bewildered.

At this moment, Kurenai was undeniably incredibly cute. Her baby-like oval face was like a perfectly ripe apple, making one want to take a bite.

Fortunately, he had strong willpower and remained unmoved.

After a bit of playful roughhousing, Mitarashi Anko finally understood the real reason Neji and Kurenai were there. The atmosphere instantly turned silent. Orochimaru was the person she least wanted to see in her life.

On one hand, he had taught her, but on the other hand, he had betrayed Konoha, putting her in a very awkward position and making her life difficult over the years.

That's why during the Chunin Exams, she had wanted to die with Orochimaru.

But now, they actually wanted to use the cursed mark on her neck to revive Orochimaru. It was as if heaven were playing a cruel joke on her.

Neji knew he was asking a lot, so he waited quietly.

"Hey, Neji, do you really need to revive Orochimaru?" Mitarashi Anko spoke up then, her eyes hazy, her teeth gently biting her lower lip, her earlobes tinged with red. She quietly waited for Neji's next words.

"Yes," Neji replied. "But I'm absolutely confident I can subdue him and make sure he doesn't cause any trouble."

"I believe you."

Just as Neji was about to say something else to reassure her, Mitarashi Anko spoke with her signature silly, sweet smile, then pulled down her outer robe, revealing her fair, smooth, and incredibly tender skin… no, it was the black cursed mark on her neck.

"Come on, Neji," Mitarashi Anko said softly.

"Okay, thank you," Neji said, then formed a series of strange hand seals and pressed them onto Mitarashi Anko's neck.

"Evil Sealing Technique! Release!"

And so, visibly, a white object resembling a large tumor slowly emerged from Mitarashi Anko's cursed mark, like a thick branch. It then gradually grew larger, and finally, Orochimaru slowly crawled out from within.

"Ugh..." Intense pain caused beads of cold sweat to trickle down Mitarashi Anko's face, and she couldn't help but let out a faint groan, swaying unsteadily.

"I never expected it would be you who revived me, Neji." Orochimaru licked his lips, his pale face showing surprise. He looked at the boy who had recently turned him to dust and ash, now reviving him, and a thousand questions flooded his mind.

First kill, then revive. Who would be so bored?

If Neji had told him he was just bored and wanted to have some fun, would he have gone berserk?

"I assume you know what's happening, so I won't say much more." Neji carried Mitarashi Anko to the bed and looked coldly at Orochimaru. "I need you to do something for me."

"You need someone's help sometimes?" Orochimaru said sarcastically.

"You don't have a choice. We killed you once, and we can certainly kill you a second time. Do you want to cooperate willingly or be beaten by me and then cooperate unwillingly? Choose."

Neji's strength had reached an unimaginable level, and he no longer took Orochimaru seriously. Therefore, he couldn't even be bothered to explain, directly resorting to threats of physical violence.

Orochimaru was furious. Did he really think he had no pride?

"Hmph, you threaten me like this? I'm one of the Sannin, you know. This kind of thing… Alright, what is it?" Orochimaru conceded. There was no help for it; circumstances forced his hand.

Yūhi Kurenai: "..."

Mitarashi Anko: "..."

They had expected to see a battle between shadow-level figures. This would have been hugely beneficial to them. They hadn't expected Orochimaru to agree so readily and were left utterly bewildered.

"Break!"

Neji said softly. Instantly, the cursed mark on Mitarashi Anko's neck slowly shattered and then turned into flying dust, disappearing.

This was the power of spoken words. As long as one's strength was sufficient, it was truly like "what is spoken becomes reality."

Orochimaru's serpentine eyes narrowed, his heart churning. This only strengthened his resolve to avoid confronting Neji unless absolutely necessary.

"What do you want me to do?"

Neji shook his head gently. "Don't look at me like that. Even if I didn't ask you, you would have done this eventually."
