Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Man of ultra

ANTARCTIC STRATOSPHERE

The world is silent beneath a blanket of white. The wind does not whisper.. it dies. The air is so still it feels like the planet itself is holding its breath.

Then..

CRACK.

The sound barrier fractures like glass.

The sky splits. A green comet streaks through the atmosphere, leaving a trail of radioactive emerald fire in its wake.

Ultraman vanishes.

A heartbeat later..

He reappearsdirectly in front of Miru.

His eyes glow not with heat, but with the sickly, pulsating light of Kryptonite radiation. His belt splits open. Inside, shards of raw, glowing green Kryptonite float like cursed stars. He inhales. The shards disintegrate into vapor, swirling into his lungs, his cells, his very being.

The air distorts. The sky twists. The horizon bends as if reality itself is recoiling from the poison now coursing through Ultraman's veins.

ULTRAMAN:"You think I didn't notice?"

His voice is a blade wrapped in velvet, smooth and lethal.

"You're not human. Not Kryptonian. Something else. I don't like unknown variables."

His veins pulse with green fire. His muscles swell, grotesque and powerful, as the radiation storm warps the space around him. The Kryptonite doesn't just fuel him.. it rewrites him, pushing his body beyond its limits, beyond sanity.

ULTRAMAN:"Let's see how long you last."

He vanishes again.

Miru barely turns his head...

BOOM.

Ultraman's fist connects with Miru's jaw. The shockwave tears the clouds apart for miles. The atmosphere screams. Miru is launched like a bullet, his body puncturing the stratosphere, the thin blue line of Earth's atmosphere shattering around him.

For a moment, there is only silence.

Then..

Orbit swallows him.

Miru tumbles through the void. No sound. No air. Only the cold, indifferent black of space and the blue marble of Earth rotating below him.

His cheek is bruised. His lip is bleeding. He steadies himself, fingers flexing, aura flickering.. blue-white, threaded with gold.

A voice echoes in his mind.

Dad said… don't underestimate him.

His ribs ache. But they are not broken. His defenses hold. The Kryptonite-enhanced strike did not shatter him. It tested him.

Below

A green streak rises toward him.

Ultraman.

Still smiling.

From the upper atmosphere, Dura hovers, arms folded. His senses flare outward like invisible radar, dissecting the battle, the energy, the truth of what is unfolding.

DURA (internal):Ultraman… base output fluctuating at roughly 2.1 billion units. Post-Kryptonite absorption… 3.8 billion. Volatile. Cellular instability rising. He's pushing himself too hard. The radiation is eating him alive.

He shifts focus.

Miru.

*DURA (internal): Miru… 2.9 billion at full restraint release. Defensive adaptation increasing. Saiyan biology responding. Growth rate accelerating. He's not just fighting back... he's evolving.

Dura's eyes narrow.

DURA (internal):Good. He's learning.

Ultraman slams into Miru mid-orbit.

They grapple, two meteors locked in a dance of destruction.

Punches land like artillery shells. Each strike detonates pockets of frozen oxygen, miniature suns exploding in the void.

Miru blocks.

Counters.

An elbow crashes into Ultraman's ribs.

The Kryptonian laughs, a sound like cracking ice.

ULTRAMAN:"You're getting stronger. That's annoying."

He headbutt Miru. Stars burst behind Miru's eyes. Pain flares but something inside him shifts. Something awakens.

Miru's pupils narrow. His breathing deepens. His aura thickens, compressing into a dense, electric storm. The pain fuels him. His Saiyan DNA ignites, not with rage, but with purpose.

Damage detected.

Threat level escalating.

Adapt.

His power climbs.

3.1 billion.

3.3.

3.6.

Ultraman's grin falters.

ULTRAMAN:"That's not possible."

Miru drives a knee into Ultraman's gut. The force spirals them both downward, a comet trail of fire and fury, hurtling back toward Earth.

POV SWITCH — OWLMAN

GOTHAM PRIME — EARTH-3

Deep within a cathedral of black steel and cold glass, Owlman stands in shadow. A telescope device unfolds from the ceiling like a predatory flower, its lenses humming as they zoom in on the battle raging over Antarctica.

Two figures tear the sky apart. Energy signatures spike, clash, evolve.

Owlman studies Miru's aura, his movements, his adaptability.

He cross-references the data, his genius-level intellect processing the impossible.

Then he zooms further.

Finds Dura.

Watching.

OWLMAN (softly):"So that's the anomaly."

His fingers dance across a holographic keyboard. Energy readings scroll. Not Kryptonian. Not Lantern. Not magic.

Alien.

Unknown.

And stronger than Ultraman.

Owlman's mask tilts.

"Interesting."

He attempts to trace the earlier planetary scan anomaly. The signal loops.Redirects.Ghost signatures flicker, slipping through his digital grasp like smoke.

He frowns.

"Someone is shielding them."

His systems fail to penetrate Mia's encryption lattice. For now.

BACK TO ANTARCTICA

Miru crashes into the ice. The continent fractures.Ultraman slams down seconds later, his boots carving craters into the glacier.

They rise from the wreckage, blood staining the snow. Ultraman wipes his lip, his eyes burning with radioactive fury.

ULTRAMAN:"I don't lose."

His radiation spikes again.. 4.1 billion. His cells scream, the Kryptonite corroding him from within. He's overdosing, but he doesn't care. Victory is all that matters.

Miru exhales. His aura shifts, electric threads flickering through the teal fire. 3.9 billion. Growing.

He smiles faintly, blood on his teeth.

MIRU:"You hit hard."

Ultraman rushes him.

They disappear into blurs. Every impact creates new glaciers.

Every miss sends tsunamis roaring beneath the ice shelf. The fight grows dirtier. Miru takes a punch to the gut, coughs blood, but grabs Ultraman's arm flips him. Drives him headfirst into the crust.

Dura watches with still intensity, his presence a silent storm.

DURA (internal):Miru's growth curve is surpassing projections. He may overtake Ultraman within two minutes.

But he also sees something else.

Ultraman's instability. His cells degrading under Kryptonite overdose. The radiation is killing him, but his pride won't let him stop. Desperation creeps in.

That makes him dangerous.

Ultraman roars.

His belt shatters fully. The remaining Kryptonite fuses into his bloodstream, his skin glowing bright green, his eyes radiating like twin suns.

Power spikes 4.5 billion.

He teleports in front of Miru.

Punches him into the upper stratosphere again.

Miru stops mid-air this time.

Bleeding. But smiling. 4.4 billion.

Growing.

POV SWITCH — MIA

SECRET BASE

UNKNOWN LOCATION

Holographic displays surround Mia, streams of data flowing around her like rivers of light. She frowns.

"Someone is probing the outer cloaking layer."

She sends counter-signals.

Quantum scrambling.

False star maps. The intrusion halts.

But she can't identify the source.

"Whoever you are… you're intelligent."

She increases defensive protocols. Her eyes narrow.

"We may not be alone in this world's shadows."

Back in the sky

Miru vanishes.

Ultraman turns

Too slow.

Miru appears behind him.

Elbow to the spine.

Crack.

Ultraman screams. Miru follows with a rapid flurry hundreds of blows per second. Each one stronger than the last. 4.6 billion. 4.8.

Ultraman's power dips. 4.3. 4.0. His body is failing.Miru grabs his face. Drives him through a mountain range. The continent splits.

Ultraman claws out of the rubble.. enraged. Fear creeps in.

DURA STEPS IN

Ultraman launches one final, unstable charge at Miru

But Dura appears between them.

No aura flare.

Just presence.

He catches Ultraman's punch effortlessly. The air stops moving. The world holds its breath.

Ultraman's eyes widen.

Dura's voice is calm.

"Enough."

He punches Ultraman once.

Not flashy.

Not dramatic.

Precise.

The shockwave ripples across the globe. Ultraman vanishes sent hurtling across oceans, across continents, crashing into the eastern seaboard of America.

POV SWITCH — AMERICA (EARTH-3)

WASHINGTON PRIME

Government bunkers tremble. Monitors flash red. A green meteor crashes outside the capital.

Ultraman lies in a crater.Broken. Bleeding. Alive.

Government officials stare in horror.

Their God has fallen.

And something stronger exists.

Whispers spread.

If Ultraman can lose

Power is shifting.

And predators are watching.

Ultraman recovers in silence.

Humiliation festers.

He contacts Owlman.

Then Superwoman. Then Power Ring. Johnny Quick. Deathstorm.

Modern. Calculating. Not chaotic. Strategic.

If unknown gods are arriving

Earth-3 must consolidate.

The Crime Syndicate forms earlier than history intended.

Not out of conquest.

Out of fear.

FLASHBACK — THE TRUE HISTORY OF EARTH-3

Long before Dura arrived

Earth-3 was never meant to survive.

In the multiversal weave

It is the inversion world.Where morality is reversed. Heroes are tyrants. Hope is weaponized.

Kal-Il did not land to inspire . He landed to rule.Thomas Wayne Jr. did not seek justice. He sought control. Diana was not a warrior for peace. She conquered Themyscira and reshaped it.

This Earth evolved differently. Trust died centuries ago. Institutions became power pyramids. Strength dictated law. The weak worshipped. The strong devoured.

But something deeper lurked beneath it all.

Earth-3 is unstable in the multiverse. It resists entropy by producing apex predators. Every generation births monsters to prevent collapse.

Ultraman.

Owlman.

The Syndicate.

Now

Dura.

Miru.

Outsiders.

Variables.

The planet feels it. Storms increase.

Seismic activity rises. As if reality itself prepares for escalation.

BACK TO PRESENT — ANTARCTICA

Miru lands beside Dura. Breathing heavily. But proud.

"I almost had him."

Dura nods.

"You did."

Miru looks toward America.

"He'll come back."

Dura's eyes darken.

"Yes."

Above them

The sky feels thinner.

Watching.

Elsewhere..

Owlman stands before a massive board of possibilities.

Photos of Dura. Miru. Energy breakdowns. Probability trees.

He pins a new thread across them.

"They're not conquerors."

"They're training."

He tilts his head.

"Which means… something worse is coming."

He smiles faintly.

"Good."

On Earth-3

When monsters prepare

It means a greater predator approaches.

And somewhere in the deep multiverse

Something ancient shifts.

Watching Earth-3 grow unstable.

Waiting.
