Nobody moves. A guard finally speaks "Your Majesty... we know almost nothing about them. Another guard continues "ARE YOU INSANE... If we release them everyone here could maybe." The king laughs quietly not because it's funny but because he's already accepted the outcome "Maybe I am insane." He looks back at the city "But it's either we all die today." He turns... "Or we gamble everything." Silence... the guards slowly salute all at once they go "YES, SIR!" They sprint from the room.
As everyone leaves a small boy (11 years old) steps from behind one of the pillars. Lucian has been listening the whole time he looks frightened. "Dad..." The king immediately softens he kneels to the ground to be at Lucians level. Lucian grips his sleeve "This is going to kill us... I don't want to die." The king hugs him. A long pause "Don't worry you're safe with me." Lucian hugs him tighter the king closes his eyes. For just a second the king doesn't believe his own words.
Deep beneath the castle rows of glass tubes inside each one black liquid moves on its own. Scientists quietly observe them one whispers, "They're reacting again." Suddenly the laboratory door bursts open. Guards rush inside "Release them!" The scientists stare "... What?" Another guard grabs a scientist "THE SERSIAN EMPIRE HAS BROKEN THROUGH RELEASE THEM!" A scientist says but we know nothing about them a guard angrily shouts, "THE KING SAID TO RELEASE THEM SO DO IT THE SERSIANS ARE GETTING CLOSE WE HAVE NO TIME... WE ARE BETTING ON A GAMBLE RIGHT NOW BUT THIS IS OUR LAST HOPE!" A scientist calmly says "Very well then... We'll release them."
