I looked at him, watching the way his towering rage disintegrated into ashes of fear. It was sweet, really, how easily the threat of my absence could turn a dragon into a beggar.
"Maegel, I am polyandrous by nature," I said, each word a cold, hard stone falling on his chest. "If I want a man in my bed, I will have him. Whether it is a lion, a dragon, or a wolf."
I placed my palm flat against his chest, feeling the frantic, erratic thud of his heart as it raced beneath the silk of his jacket. I leaned in, my voice dropping into a lethal, fierce tone that gave no room for argument.
"If you cannot handle sharing the space I give you, I'm giving you the chance now. Leave me alone. Walk away, rescind the proposal, and don't look back." My golden pupils shimmered with a flash of genuine violence. "But know this: I will not give you a second chance after this. So, think about it wisely."
