"You did well, little dragon," I whispered, my voice returning to its silken, dangerous calm. "Did you enjoy the dessert?"
Maegel didn't move. He simply tightened his hold, his arms a cage of muscle and bone. "Yes, I enjoyed it quite well. Maybe too much," he said, his eyes closed in total, blissful defeat. "What about you, my queen? Did I feed you to your satisfaction?"
He lifted his head, his eyes opened as he looked into my golden eyes for my reaction.
"Yes, I did. I enjoyed the meal."
Hearing this, he dropped his head back on my shoulder, gripping my waist.
"I am relieved." He said.
I smiled into the darkness.
"You should be," I murmured, my hand sliding through his sweat-dampened hair. "Not everyone gets a second helping, Maegel. But then again, you did prove yourself to be quite the... efficient eater."
